February, 2010

Sand Painters Art Guild Newsletter

http:/www.schemmerstudios.com
Our February meeting will be Tuesday, February 23, at Cherry Hills Estates, Valentine, NE.
We will meet at 6:00 p.m., CT, for a light supper. During this time we will share works in progress or completed and
have a business meeting. Here are Anita’s instructions for the meeting:

Items needed: BYOP (bring your own print, photograph) It can be an inkjet print; we just
have to coat the print prior to manipulation.
acrylics, oils, brushes any painting texture mediums, glazes.
I use a varnish to cover my prints. First this allows the paints to flow easier across the
prints. "Anything" you might use to paint with. Come with your mind wide open. This
is easy for me since I am not a painter and don't know what all the stuff is usually used
for which allows me to slop on stuff and see what happens.----Anita

MEMBERSHIP DUES ARE DUE!

There are several members who have not paid their 2010 dues and
I must have them by the end of the month to send into the state
for our membership status. Please remember, the more paid members
we have the more pieces we may select to compete at state.
Please send your dues to Nancy Blumenstock, 222 W 2nd St., Valentine
Ne 69201, $25.00 for full membership and $15.00 for supporting members.

Thank you,

extra bonus for the next 4 meetings, we will give everyone present
a chance to win. This is not a fund raiser. These are just to be
gifts as a thank you for including her in some of the Sand Painter
events.

Club Challenges
Challenges that are due at the February meeting include a white piece, your daily
journal/sketch book, and a finished shrinky dink.
Hey all---get a sketchbook--any sketchbook---and get ready to use it this year. Carry it with you at all times and
have some fun drawing supplies to go with. A zip lock bag works really well to hold supplies. Upcoming will
be an Internet link to ideas for sketchbook/journal entries. (The sketchbooks can be very simple and inexpensive
or more elaborate---you decide.)

I have a web site that has instructions on how to do about anything...there are many art instructions...you will
want to check it out...this is the address for a very simple roll up pencil pouch...great to go with your
sketchbook.

---if you need a sketch/field bag for you or for a youth---check out this great idea---recycling a pair of jeans.
Neat idea.
