ISLA VERDE HOTEL AND COASTAL RESORT

A One Stop Haven for Maritime Science and Technology

PROJECT BRIEF

Resort, proposed here is a commercial tourist resort, which provides hospitality to both internal as
well as external tourism as it cannot depend solely on foreigners, as there is seasonal variance in
incoming tourists.
The resort will be located in Verde Island, that has been declared by the Philippine Tourism
Authority as one of the country's marine reserves, not very far from the core city of Pinamacuan in
Batangas so as it could serve urban people well and be their holiday destination.
This resort will perform multifunction, as it will have Restaurants, Conference Halls, Lodging
Suites, Individual Cottages, Health Club, Marine Museum, Marine Library, Performance Spaces etc.
Besides this, it will have services like Receptions, Plazas, Tourist Information Centre, and recreational
spaces like Swimming Pool, Mini Golf Course, Lawn Tennis, Natural as well as artificial landscapes and
Space for Artists, Writers etc. If we see the present scenario, we cannot find all these activities in single
resort.
The resort will attempt to integrate the socio-cultural aspect of Filipino society with contemporary
spatial demand of resort and create harmony between them, together harmonizing it with site, and
surrounding to fit it in context. Its primary focus is to harness the richness of water resources of the place.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Globalization has narrowed the boundaries between countries and peoples curiosity is dragging
them here and there creating new form of social language: Tourism.
If we stare on present trend, tourism has been an essential part of local as well national economy.
Countries like Switzerland, Thailand, Maldives, China, South Africa etc. well known for tourism industry
whose national economy rely in it. Dubai has forecasted in the year 2030.
In Philippines, Earnings generated from
tourism activities in the first five months of
2015 grew 2.74%, aggregating to Php 93.907
billion from the Php 91.404 billion recorded last
year. For May alone, visitor receipts amounted
to Php 16.77 billion which is 2.40% higher than
the previous years earnings of Php 16.38
billion.

The beauty of the Philippines along with the whole ASEAN region should be promoted and
developed. The other countries may cater more to culture or shopping and the Philippines can offer nature
and adventure. The different countries in the region can complement each other and come up with a more
attractive and unique product, different from what other regional destinations offer. While the Caribbean or
Mediterranean cruises are more for romance and honeymoons, the ASEAN can be for diving and
adventure. The waters in the ASEAN teem with marine life as the Coral Triangle is found in the area.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The main objective of this proposal is to design Re-Creative Coastal Tourist Resort and Hotel.
Emphasizing the Filipino Architecture and exploiting the natural water wonder of the Philippines as a new
way to interact with nature. Specifically the objectives are to:

Provide a recreational environment for the resort through varieties of facilities and functions.
Provide hospitality for both domestic and foreign tourists and promote tourism ultimately
Promote local as well as national economy through the promotion of both internal and external
tourism.
Create an interactive ground for locals and visitors so that there may be interchange of ideas and
cultural demonstration.Provide a space for official meetings and seminars in natural surroundings.Respond to climatic and energy consumption issues raised by present day architecture through
eco-sensitive design.
In addition, there are various objective related to achieving proper functioning built forms, that can
be achieved through literature reviews and research. Thus, the objectives are to

Study about the materials and technology regarding the sustainability in designStudy about energy efficient designStudy about passive solar architectureStudy about low cost sustainable building materials-

Study about spatial organization and areal need of resort programsThe ultimate objective is to attain
unique resort design with all the knowledge and skills that islearned throughout four years of learning. The
final design should be free from all the design problems and should be outstanding from all the prevalent
resort in Nepal.

JUSTIFICATION
In present context, tourism in the Philippines holds a great potential to establish itself as a
significant means of economy. This sector has a great potentiality to generate foreign revenue, which
can bring about immediate socio-economic benefit from small investments.
This project will pay its attention towards the global energy crisis and climate change though it is
aworthless effort to give impact in global scale, but it will certainly create an example andimpact locally as
there is saying, think locally, impact globally. This proposed resort could bethe masterpiece of all resort
that are functioning today and will approach to give it globalidentification.The most important part is socioeconomic impact. The society has changed a lot fromtraditional to modern and still in the stage of
metamorphosis, from modern to post modern andSanskritization through global interchange has not kept
Nepalese society untouched. Theeconomic influence of tourism in Nepal is noteworthy as is has
established itself as a prominent foreign exchange earner. Before 1960s Pokhara was accessible only by
foot, butnow the economy has boosted and people around the country are being pulled there

.. Thus,tourism plays an important to upgrade local as well as national economy so resort proposed
iscommercially acceptable.The creation of unique resort in a built form will be the landmark of valley and
even of Nepalso that, it becomes place to visit. Resort tourism is well flourished in Maldives, and people
gothere just dwell around the resort area. Likewise, this proposed resort will be leisure resort
