Social and Professional Ethics: Glossary of 25 words.


1. Cutlery eating - utensils with a cutting edge, such as steak knives.
2. Dinnerware - a collective term for plates, bowls, cups and saucers.
3. Glassware - Non-stemmed drinking vessels, such as tumblers and bar glasses; also
glass plates, cups, and bowls.
4. Service plate - This large plate, also called a charger, serves as an under plate for the
plate holding the first course, which will be brought to the table.
5. Ethics -Ethics and morality frequently are treated as synonyms in everyday
conversation. While these terms are closely related, they are distinct.
6.Chronologicalresumestartsbylistingyourworkhistory,withthemostrecent
positionslistedfirst.Becauseitfocusesonmostrecentworkexperiences,itisconsidered
oneofthemostcommonresumestructures.
7.Functionalresumefocusesonyourskillsandexperience,ratherthanonyour

9. Table manners - conventional behavior expected of people while eating.
10. Formal Greetings are the elements of a formal greeting include: What is said Tone of

11. Cover - the space allotted the diner on which tableware is placed.

forks or spoons when used in a general usage it includes all eating utensils

15. Holloware - serve ware with height and depth that is hollow in the center (coffee pot,
pitcher etc)
16. Serve ware - Utility ware used to serve a meal (platters, trays etc)
17. Stemware - A glass with a bowl that rest on a stem anchored by a foot (a long Stem
wine glass)
18. Table ware - an inclusive word for dinnerware, flatware, and glassware, the ware
from which food and drink are taken
19. Culture - the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement
regarded collectively.
20. Cross culture - is a vital issue in international business, as the success of
international trade depends upon the smooth interaction of employees from
different cultures and regions.
21. Written communication - involves any type of interaction that makes use of the
written word.
22. Verbal communication - is the use of sounds and words to express yourself,
especially in contrast to using gestures or mannerisms/non-verbal communication.
23. Nonverbal Communication - has been defined as communication without words.
24. Etiquette - conventional requirements as to social behavior; proprieties of
conduct as established in any class or community or for any occasion.

25. Social and Professional ethics encompass the personal, organizational and corporate
standards of behaviour expected of professionals.
