Lab Technician
Position: Lab Technician
Place: Yangon, Myanmar

1/ General conditions
Médecins du Monde (MDM) is a French INGO working in Myanmar in the field of HIV/AIDS
prevention and care activities on high-risk groups, such as drug users and sex workers in
Yangon and Kachin State. In Pyapon Township, Community Health Care program to improve
access to health care for the population in remote areas.
The Lab technician works for a Yangon program team aiming at STI/HIV/AIDS care and
prevention program with vulnerable groups (SW, MSM).The Lab technician’s mission is to
provide the quality on-site laboratory services for diagnosis of STIs, HIV and Opportunistic
infections including Tuberculosis, and testing of CD4.
2/HIERACH
The Lab technician works under the direct authority and responsibility of the Lab supervisor,
to which she has to report.
3/ Duties description
Perform lab procedure for diagnosis
• Conduct basic microscopy diagnostics such as wet preps, gram, Ziehl
Nielsen, India Ink and other common stains, fecal examinations.
• Conduct serological tests for diagnosis of syphilis and HIV, Hepatitis B,
Hepatitis C
• Conduct microscopic diagnosis of Opportunistic infections such as
Cryptococcal, Penicillium, TB, Fungus, etc
• Conduct CD4 testing
4/ Requested skills
• A person with one experience working in INGO lab
• Grade 1 of medical laboratory technician/Higher grade of medical lab
technician
• Proven team working ability
• Autonomy, open minded and flexible
• Fair listening and speaking skills (English/Myanmar)
• Basics Computer Skills (Word, Excel)
• Knowledge of prevention of HIV/STI
• Can work under stressful condition ( from time constraint )
• Respect to MDM policy
• Good interpersonal communication skill
