One of the questioned I asked in my first post when I got to UNCC

is how Ms. Ingram teaches her class. I found her class is more student
pushed than teacher. She allows students to figure answers out for
themselves instead of giving them a set in stone answer to follow. I also
asked if Ms. Ingram ever deviated from here syllabus and Ive found her
never to deviate from, but from time to time she will add more to it. Some
questions I thought of at the time of my post but didnt write down was if I
would ever get tired of walking around the campus. The walking around
campus really isnt bad at all though some days its a struggle to get up the
hill because I might be tired, but I really having my bike in the fall though.
The advice I would give to the new freshmen is to find a favorite place(s)
around campus. For me I have three: The saloon with the piano in the
union, Hechenbleikner Lake next to Rowe, and the table area deep on the
left of Wendys in the Union. I like these areas because how quiet and calm
they are during the day. So the incoming freshmen should find an area(s)
which is right for them.

In working with the key concepts I feel as though I do have a couple

of them down. I believe my critical thinking skills are strong, for I am able
to think of underlying information and give strong support for it. I can also
make strong connections. I can find small relating factors between
different events or works. For example, when I was writing my first
literacy narrative, I was able to connect the speeches; I gave in Civics and
Economics and Coding to my literary growth through high school. Most
people wouldnt consider those classes as adding to a persons literary
skills, but for me they did. In addition, I take strong responsibility for my
own learning because you cant always expect someone else to get you to
where you need to be; you have to work towards it yourself. However, I am
not strong when it comes to getting out of my comfort zone. I do try
different techniques in my paper, but I dont feel as though I go as far with
it as I could. I m also week in providing feedback to my other peers
mostly because it takes me a while to think of what to say before I can
write it. I was wondering if there was a process to go about doing which
would make it easier for me to proof read my peers papers?

C. For my literacy narrative, I wrote about my English literacy and how it

grew and affected me throughout my high school years. My English

literacy in high school was the development of my knowledge in the

written, and spoken words of it, and the passion I had for literature in the
form of books. Through my literacy narrative, I learned I was largely
influenced by the books I read in the past and how passion for reading has
changed largely from each year in high school. It never truly stayed the
same each year. I also reflected on how my knowledge of English literacy
was expanded throughout those four years. The relationship I had between
myself and the power holders of my literature was well known. I knew the
power holders were the teachers who pushed my English knowledge, Mrs.
Knight, Mrs. Hughes, and Mr. Maynard, and the books I read. The power
of literacy from my teachers, were available for everyone no student was
left out from it, but when I came to the book read the power was only
directed towards me. Anyone could have read the books I read if they
wanted to, but the power of the knowledge it had would have received
from different from mine because can never be just one thing which allows
their powers to be different for different people.
D. My academic goals for the second haft of the semester is to work on more
study aids for LBST. The class looks simple like history in high school, but
is harder than it appears to be, so Im going to be working on more study
exercises to help with learning the information. I also plan to expand on
my writing skills in UWRT. I plan on using the different study skills which
helped me in history to assist me in LBST. Mostly when it comes to getting
out of my comfort zone. I want to be able to incorporate more styles and
essay designs into my paper than I had before. I plan on using the
universitys writing center to help me with this goal. In English I plan to
continue to work hard, so I can maintain a good grade in class and not fall
behind in my work. I will do this by not getting distracted from my work
by other people or actions and events going around me. I want to finish
UTOP with a strong GPA when fall starts this year. I can reach this goal by
balancing the workload between my classes, and making sure there done
to the best of my ability.
