Schools Matter: The trouble with Alexander Russo

The irony is that Russo suggests we critics have been

successful because WE are coordinating ourselves!
And the "reformers" ought to do the same! We are
seeing the most coordinated, sustained and
systematic campaign ever mounted in public
education.

A clear response to these vicious accusations should be in order. The Parent
Trigger is one of the most reprehensible tools in the neoliberal privatization
and austerity toolkit. For the corporate education reformers to make this
about the teachers instead of Austins poverty pimping NPIC is outrageous.
Russos piece also mentions a UTLA meeting about the trigger. Sad UTLA

trigger and those associated with it.
I have no problem with reactionaries Jamie Alter Lynton and Alexander

Its rare to see sympathetic voices on any of the mainstream networks. One
usually sees reform hacks and carpetbaggers.
Some guy Alexander Russo, who comments hither and thither on
education, seems obsessed with an education activists recent appearance
on MSNBC. And I say some guy because, to me at least, Mr. Russo could
be classified perfectly as such; in our little world, just some guy, some dude,
unremarkable, who types some stuff and crap.
In any event, man, hes going ape ass crazy over the fact that the guest was
not identified as someone with a very close alliance with AFT, who indeed
just finished a tenure there in communications.
I agree with that guy: she should have been identified because it clearly
seems like her appearance was indeed that of second fiddle to Ms.
Weingarten. We have to hold both sides of this debate to the same
standards in terms of identifying connections. I would ask the same of
someone taking Gates Foundation money, for instance.
All of this is really some inside baseball, unimportant. Its funny to me,
though, how that guy is really going off on this. Might he have a little crush
here?
More importantly, I wonder why folks like Chris Hayes and others cant seem
to invite real educators on their shows, ones that are actually still in the
classroom. Lots of people on both sides speaking FOR educators, but I
never see any speaking for themselves. Why all the consultants, advocates,
and activists, union representatives and journalists?
No ones got an educator in their contacts list that they can call?
