SUMMARY:
Provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the BAMC -
Logistics Division. Provide maintenance and technical support for medical equipment
and for the users of this equipment. Repair electronic, pneumatic, electro-
mechanical and mechanical equipment to include troubleshooting, identifying source
of problem(s) and replacement of defective printed circuit board(s), discrete
component(s) or other parts as appropriate. Order spare parts and accessories as
necessary to perform repair functions. Document the extent and cost of repairs
using appropriate forms. Compute power and space requirements for installation
medical equipment and install units to manufacturer’s specifications. Prepare and
submit medical equipment reports. Conduct Scheduled Services (Preventive
Maintenance inspections) of medical equipment to include visual inspections,
electrical safety inspections, calibration, and performance verification. Document the
results of incoming inspections using appropriate forms. Set-up and install new
medical equipment systems. Communicate with clinical staff (physicians, nurses,
technicians, etc.) as necessary to provide assistance and in-service training setup,
calibration, operation, and application of medical equipment. Provide technical
training, assistance, and guidance to lower skilled co-workers. Conduct incoming
inspections of new equipment to include receipt, inventory of parts, and accessories,
assembly, inspection, calibration, and performance verification, and parts
replacement. Interpretation of Scheduled Services results to determine whether
equipment is safe and operating within manufacturer's specifications. Perform
Scheduled Services using written test procedures. Develop and document a
Scheduled Service procedure and complete the inspection on new/unique
equipment. Documents the results of Scheduled Services using appropriate forms.
Implement equipment modifications to include researching product modifications with
appropriate regulatory agencies, documents, equipment modifications, arranges for
software upgrades for existing equipment, and designs interfaces to allow for
interconnection of equipment, in conjunction with the Chief/NCOIC, Medical
Maintenance. Investigate equipment hazard alerts, recalls, updates, and incidents.
Consult with co-workers or clinical staff outside normal duty hours to resolve medical
equipment problems.
