theoretical basis description

The following study aims to deal with housing policies, verified by the
topicality of the subject in Brazil. The major focus will be on the
architecture of this classic type - with, however, the necessity of
urban science attention to be given in a complex issue as such.
In the theoretical stage, the starting point was into a historical
context for better understanding of the subject: how housing policies
come up, become priority of governments in some cases - but not
always. This context will be conducting the history of social housing in
Brazil and the development of his concept, mutant today. However, it
will also relate some parallel experiences around the world which it
found necessary for comparison or illustration of how, architecturally,
the subject is treated in different places.
Then was conducted a study on three examples of social housing.
First, will address the housing complex Iceberg, in Denmark, and how
even the collapse of the financial world in 2008 did not cause the
project to lose its architectural quality. Next, we deal with the Jardim
Edite housing Project, in downtown So Paulo, that drew attention for
its experimental character in the Brazilian context. And lastly, the
Projeto Habitao Cidade will be studied, a simulation of Vigglieca &
Associates office, as they would - and do - the redefinition of social
housing.
After studying these examples, the focus will turn to Londrina, then
doing an analysis of the housing situation in Londrina, legislation in
vogue that permeates and defines why this is a problem in the city what really caught the attention of the author of this work to do such
research - then leaving for the definition of a program and the
definition of a real situation for the Project exercise of the building
which will be presented in order to contribute to the questioning of
the production of not just the most basic architectural type - the
home - of those who can fewer, so to speak but also the city that is
produced and it wants to produce.
After the explanation of social housing and presented the project,
arrive at the conclusion that the production that is currently follows
unsustainably to the city, to the point of having to increase the urban
edge of the city for people having to dwell. It is noticed a cyclical
movement in Brazilian history theme, building houses at the
periphery at appropriate times, while the irregular housing is a
constant in Brazilian cities, including young cities such as Londrina.
Also it was noted that such housing projects has rooted in itself
spatial segregation - that occurs with a supposed economic purpose,
but which can be overcome if it's planned to to have a real city
project that is - perhaps - more dense but also with greater diversity

of uses, most turned to itself, which in accordance, finally, on a

sustainable system.
Finally, cite the poet Augusto de Campos, by remembering that every
abstraction is an idea, and here there is always a minimum of
purpose, to say that we have permanent rights to the failure of
utopia.

2. projectual description

The project is conceptually grounded in two precepts:

This idea was formalized in the project in a square joining the housing
and the city, being open to it, and the movement is bounded in a
subliminal way mostly.
Also is made reference to the other elements of informal construction
and design decisions to be mentioned below, such as the facade of
ceramic elements arranged in 45.
The second aspect that conceptually determined the project is the
modern Brazilian architecture of collective housing, which has always
sought architectural quality in a practical way, yet emotional.
Where modulation and large-scale production were not creative
constraints, but impellers, either the repeating structural using, for
example, a poetry form or overcoming technical difficulties in favor of
architectural quality
In addition to protection from direct sunlight in late afternoon, the
brise soleil denote the housing for those who observe the building
from the downtown area. In the west block, despite the openings,
confrom an enclosed, massive volume.
The openings are positioned so as not to interfere in the privacy of
the residents, generating sights in circulation; their position is also in
a way so that they do not create barriers for ventilation - which could
even cause the need for a reinforcement brace.
The eastern faade of the east block differs from the previous by
being more permeable on aiming inside the assembly in order to
ensure that anyone using it always be in sight, even within the
building.
a child may think that some parts of this brise facade unleashed up
its structure and were used to make the bank around the square next
to the playground, as well as they were running out the pieces to the
north block
The aesthetic continuity - or the share of it - occurred in order to
preserve the denotation of subliminally functions - even not fulfilling
the function of protection from the sun, for being a southern facade.
Alfredo Villi, Brazilian concretism painter, were inspirational in the
design of brise soleil-soleil, being contemporary to modern Brazilian
architecture - sharing, therefore, certain principles. However, these
forms in Volpi's paintings drew attention for its simplicity and complex
geometric content.
