Except Pitamaha, Kasyapa and Narada — 3hrigu preceded all Hindu Astrologers. Parasara, Jaimini and Garga belonged to last part of Satya Yuga or early part of Treta Yuga. Even by the most conservative estimate he belonged to 5000-6000 3.C. 3hrigu preceded Sri Rama 3hrigus son Parasuram was a contemporary of Sri Rama. Pitamaha had the superiority in mathematical astrology. Kasyapa and Narada had superiority in mundane astrology. But credit goes to 3hrigu to lay down a strong foundation of Hindu Hora Sastra. There have been four well-known schools of Hindu Astrology namely. Parasara School. Jaimini School. Yavan School and Jain School. 3ut even moreancient has been 3hrigu School off Astrology. We have reasons to believe that Bhrigu Sutram is the compilation of original works of Sage 3hrigu. Predictive Astrology began with the study of sign-wise and house-wise positions of planets. We find a reflection of the same in Shrigu Sutram. We, therefore, have incorporated Shrigu Sutram dealing with effects of planets in various houses in Part One of this book on a priority basis. In Part Two of the look we have discussed effects of twelve house-lords in twelve houses of a horoscope as delineated in authenticated 3hrigu Samhita. The book : 3rigu On Predictive Astrology is quite a useful book. We have tested many of these rules in several cases and found them to be amazingly true. As astrological rules indicate various alternate probabilities and also as actual results are in consonance with our Karma Phalas unknown to us, all predictions cannot be true at a time. There are many surprising things in Shrigu which cannot be found out else-where and yet they are amazingly true. We. therefore.have deemed it proper to publish this book on 3hrigu for the benefit of readers. It is said that even Lord Vishnu had to bear the curse of Sage Shrigu. Lord Krishna uncarrnated as Lord Sri Rama had to bear pangs of separation from his beloved wife only to fulfil the curse of Sage 3hrigu. Even Lord Vishnu had to pay the price for his wrong deeds. 3othShrigu and Lord Vishnu upheld the majority of Law of Karma. Sage 3hrigu and his son 3hargava Parasuram were great Saivites. The native may have more appetite. He may be bereft of knowledge and sons. He may have sharp intellect. He may be speaking less. He may be wandering. He may even go abroad. He will be happy. The Sun in Aries will give good name and fame. If the Sun is aspected by strong planet, the native may be scholarly. The sum in Libra may make the native brilliant but poor, one-eyed and enemical to knowledge. Benetic aspect on the Sun may, however, ward off evil results. The Sun in Leo sign or Leo Navamsa may make the native a lord. The Sun in Cancer may make the native learned but may give him diseases, boils, wounds etc. "The Sun in Capricorn may give heart - disease". The Sun in Pisces may make the native hen-pecked. The Sun in Virgo may give daughters. The native may lose wife. He may be ungrateful. The Sun in Leo or the Sun conjoined with benefics gives a healthy mind and a healthy body. The Sun conjoined with malefics in enemical or debilitated sign may give some serious fever at the age of three years. Benefic aspect, however, may be saving one from such evils. Note: - Satyacharya and Varaha Mihira have held Aquarius sign to be the abode of heart diseases. For these reasons presence of an afflicted Sun in Capricorn or Aquarius sign may cause heart diseases. In the 2nd house: - The Sun in the 2nd house may14 Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology give disease in the mouth. It may cause loss of wealth by fine at the age of 25 or onwards. The Sun in Aries or Leo may not cause any loss. Ifthe Sun is conjoined with malifics, it may cause eye-trouble. It may give ill health and little education. Benefic aspect on the Sun may make the native rich. He may not have aforesaid sufferings. The Sun in Aries or Leo in the 2nd house may make the native quite wealthy. The Sun alongwith Mercury, however, may make one faltering in speech. The Sun as the 2nd lord in its exaltation may make one good in speech, learned and high positioned with good eyes. In the 3rd house: - The Sun in the 3rd house makes one wise. It gives physical trouble at the age of 4th, 5th, 8th or 12th year. It does not give younger brother. Elder brothers may die. Afflicted Sun may make one cruel in deeds. The native may be brilliant, brave and famed. He may have two brothers. He may enjoy his own wealth, as he is a self-made man. The Sun conjoined with benefic gives own brothers. The 3rd lord conjoined with strong planets makes the brothers long-lived. The Sun conjoined with or aspected by malefics may cause loss of brothers. Benefic aspect on the Sun may make one, wealthy and happy. Note: - Mere presence of the Sun in the 3rd house is not enough to cause loss of brothers. In the 4th house: - The Sun in the 4th house may cause loss of or injury to some limb. It may make one proud or a rebel. It may give a bilious temperament. Body may be hot. The native may feel unhappy. At the age of 32 he may have quite a favourable turn in his life. He may have much fame, success in endeavors, high post, pelf and power and also good education but may not be so wealthy. If the 4th lord is combined with strong planetsBhrigu on Predictive Astrology IS or if it occupies its own sign ina quadrant or a trine, the native may have vechiles. 4th lord afflicted by malefics by conjunction or aspect and also if ill placed may give poor conveyance. The native may not have his own house and may always well in house of others. In the Sth house :- The SUn in the 5th house may give poverty bulky body and danger to father in 7th year of the child. The native may be wise but may have few issues. If the 5th lord is conjoined with strong planets, it must give sons. The Sun in conjunction with Rahu or Ketu in the 5th house may cause loss of the Son through cause or serpent Devata. Sun-Mars combine in the 5th house may cause loss of Son account of enemies. Benefic conjunction or aspect on the Sun, however, may word off such evils. Strong planets in similar position may also give sons. In the 6th house: - The Sun in the 6th house may give birth in a family of lower strata. It may give economic prosperity but may also increase enemies. It may cause eye trouble in the 20th year. Ifthe Sun is conjoined with or aspected by benefics, such evils may be warded off. Such a native may easily cross hurdles in his way. He may get fame but may have a worried mind. He may have ill health and hot body. If the 6th lord is combined with some benefic, it may give sound health but many enemies in his own caste or relations. If the 6th lord is weak, enemies may be vanquished but father may be weakened. In the 7th house: - The Sun in the 7th house may cause delay in marriage or it may give conjugal unhappiness. It may either give two wives or one may love other's wife. One may go abroad at the age of 25th year and may eat prohibited food there. He may be playful but deceitful to his wife. He may have destructive bend of mind. The Sun in Leo or otherwise strong may give one16 Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology wife. The Sun in conjunction with malefics or the Sun aspected by malefics, enemical and debilitated planets may cause conjugal unhappiness or give more than one wife. In the 8th house: - The Sun in the 8th house may give few sons. It may cause eye-disease. It may give wounds in head in the 10th year. If conjoined with or aspected by the benefics, evils may be warded off. The Sun in the 8th house gives little wealth. It may cause loss of cattle. It may always give physical trouble but will also give fame. If the 8th lord is combined with strong planets, the native may have desired lands. The Sun in exaltation or in own sign, however, may give long life. In the 9th house: - The Sun in the 9th house may give devotion towards the Sun, Shiva and other Devatas. It may make one virtuous and a bit fortunate. The native may not be on good terms with his father. If the Sun be in Leo or Aries, the native may have wife and sons. His father may be long -lived. The native may be quite wealthy. He may be devoted to Devatas and elderly people. The Sun in Libra or enemical sign or in malefic sign or the Sun conjoined with or aspected by malefics may cause loss of father. Benefic conjoining or aspecting the Sun may make the father long-lived. In the 10th house: - The Sun in the 10th house gives distinction in the academic field at the age of 18th year. The native may also eam wealth at quite young age. Ifthe Sun is aspected by three planets, the native may have government patronage. He may enjoy power and position. The Sun in Aries or Leo gives fame and position through social, virtuous and developmental activities. The Sun in malefic sign or the Sun conjoined with or aspected by malefic may cause hurdles in work. It may make one an evildoer. The native may commit undesirable things.Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology 17 Note: - The Sun in the 10th house is held to be Digabali. In the 1!th house: - The Sun in the 11th house makes one quite wealthy. The native may have conveyance in his 25th year. He may earn money skillfully. He may suffer from severe fever. He loves subordinates. Malefics conjoining the Sun may make him extravagant and bereft of conveyance. The Sun in Leo and Aries may make him quite powerful. The Sun in conjunction with the 4th lord may give vehicles, wealth, property and high incomebut otherwise it may make one less fortunate. In the 12th house: -The Sun inthe 12th house may give tumors or spleen enlargement at the age of 36th year. Such a native spends money on wrong objects. He is a fallen person. He causes loss of wealth. He lives abroad. If the 12th lord is combined with some strong planet, the native may have Siddhi of some Devata or comforts of bed. Malefics joining the Sun in the 12th house may cause ill spending. Jt may make the native devoid of happiness and comforts of bed. The Sun in conjunction with the 6th lord may give skin diseases. Benefic aspect on or benefic conjunction with the Sun may not give any serious disease. Malefic associations may aggravate diseases.Moon f Lagna: - In Lagna the Moon gives handsome face, fickle mind, diseases and fear from water. The native may always be on legs. The Moon in Aries, Taurus and Cancer signs makes one proficient in Sastras, wealthy, happy, a benefactor, brilliant, sweet in speech, tender-bodied but lacking in wisdom. Benefic aspect on the Moon makes one strong, wise, healthy in body, wealthy and hypocrite in speech. If the ascendant lord is weak in strength, one may have weak health. If some benefic aspects the ascendant lord, one may be healthy. In the 2nd house: - The Moon in the 2nd house makes one handsome, wealthy and a bit contented. He may be an army officer at quite young age. The Moon joining some malefic may make one bereft of learning. The Moon Joining benefic may make one wealthy and proficient in various branches of learning. Full Moon in the 2nd house by itself may make one wealthy and learned in various branches of knowledge. In the 3rd house: - The Moon in the 3rd house may give sisters. It may give windy complaints. It may make one poor and less fortunate. It may cause loss of wealth by fine. It may make one meritorious. It may also give brothers. In the 4th house: - The Moon in the 4th house gives tuling power, wealth, dairy produces and a sickly mother.Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology 19 Full Moon in Cancer may give long-lived mother. A weak Moon in conjunction with malefics may cause loss of mother and vehicles. Moon in conjunction with strong planets and the 4th lord in exaltation may confer vehicles and conveyances. In the Sth house: - The Moon in the Sth house may give a beautiful wife who may be of short temperament. The native may please women and Devatas. He may have a son. If the Moon is conjoined with or aspected by benefics, the native may be kind-hearted. If the Moon is conjoined with or aspected by some malefic the native may have a wicked disposition. Full Moon in Sth house may give charitable disposition, good fortune etc., good knowledge and high position. In the 6th house: - Moon in the 6th house may give poor health and poor body. Moon joining malefic may make one a sinner. Rahu or Ketu joining the Moon may make one bereft of wealth and brothers. The native may have formidable enemies. He may have loss of appetite. He may fear from water. Weak and afflicted Moon may cause such evils. If the Moon be strong and joined with benefic, the native may be free from diseases. In the 7th house: - The Moon in the 7th house may make one soft in speech. It may give marriage at the age of 32nd year. The native may have a fickle partner and may suffer on that account. The native may suffer from tumours, wounds and weapons. He may have gains from the government. Weak Moon may cause loss of wife. Full Moon or exalted Moon or the Moon joined with strong planet may give one a good wife. In the 8th house: - The Moon in the 8th house may give few vehicles or conveyances. Waning Moon may give medium life. In the 9th house:- The Moon in the 9th house makes one religious, virtuous and philanthropic. It may give for- tunate sons Full Moon in conjunction with strong planets may make the native very fortunate. His father is long-lived. The Moon in conjunction with malefics or in malefic sign may make one unlucky and lose his parents. In the 10th house:- The Moon in the 10th house may make one learned and wise, kind-hearted, famous and righteous in deeds. If the Moon or 10th lord joins or is aspected by benefics or strong planets the native may have success in deeds. If the Moon joins or is aspected by malefics, the native may have hurdles in his job or he may be engaged in wrongful deeds. In the 11th house :- The Moon in the 11th house makes one benevolent. The native may have belated sons and gains of various kinds. The Moon along with Venus in the 11th house makes one very fortunate endowed with vehicles, learning, house and comforts. 11th lord combined with strong planets confers immense gains. Ifthe 1 Ith lord is weak, the native may spend lavishly. In the 12th house:- The Moon in the 12th house may give anger, quarrels, misspending and bad food. One may earn wealth only by dint of hard labour. Malefic and enemical influences may give bad end of life whereas benefic and friendly influences may give good end of life.MARS L the Ist house :- Mars in the Ist house gives wounds or injuries to the body It gives strong or stout body, big navel and irresistible desire to be prominent. In some cases it may give one thievish or criminal bend of mind. It may make one short tempered or wicked. It may give one strange disease. It may make one wealthy but may also give ficklemindedness, The native may be brilliant but of angry disposition. He may sometimes act quite foolishly. Mars in Capricorn, Aries or Scorpio may give a strong, stout and healthy body. It may confer long life and favour of the government. If Mars is combined with malefic and enemical planet, it may cut short life, it may give few sons, it may give colic pain or it may give bad mouth. Exalted Mars in Lagna may make one wealthy, learned and free from eye-trouble, Mars in conjunction with malefic or in malefic sign or being aspected by some malefic may give eye-disease. In the 2nd house:- Mars in the 2nd house may disrupt education but may give wealth. Mars in conjunction with malefic may give eye-disease. Benefic aspect on Mars, however, may save from eye-disease. Mars in Aries, Scorpio or Capricorn may give good learning and good eyesight. Mars in conjunction with malefics or Mars in malefic sign or Mars aspected by some malefic may give eye-disease. In the 3rd house :- Mars in the 3rd house may not22 Bhrigu on Predictive Astrolog give young brother. It may give an uncontrolled wife. Benefic aspect on Mars may ward off all such evils. It , may cause loss of wealth. Mars in conjunction with Rahu or Ketu may make one of loose morale and unhappy in life. The native may have few brothers or he may be on enemical terms with his brothers. Evil conjunctions with or evil aspects on Mars may cause loss of brothers whereas Mars in Capricorn, Aries or Scorpio in conjunction with benefics may give one long-lived, valiant and brave broth- ers. Mars in friendly sign may give endurance. In the 4th house:- Mars in the 4th house may make one quarrelsome. In the 8th year of the native, his father may experience evil results. His mother may be sick. The native may live in the house of others if Mars is conjoined with some benefic. He may be healthy but bereft of wealth and lands. He may live in a dilapidated house. But Mars in exaltation, own or friendly sign in conjunction with benefics may give lands and vehicles. It may make the mother long-lived. Mars in Cancer or Mars in conjunction with malefics or 8th lord may cause loss of mother. Mars in conjunction with benefics may —Gonfer vehicle and integrity. Malefic conjunction may cause enmity with brothers. The native may abandon his native place. In the 5th house:- Mars in the 5th house gives poverty and displeasure of the government. It may give loss of son or may cause barrenness. It may make one go astray. The native may have fear from weapons at his young age. He may live in bad locality. He may have sharp intellect, good learning and gentle behavior. He may be skilled in speech. Mars in exaltation or own sign gives sons and ruling power but sometimes it may also give troubles from the enemy side. Mars in conjunction with malefics or Mars in malefic sign may cause loss of sons, loss of memory or insanity. In the 6th house:- Mars in the 6th house makes one famous and capable. He gets victory over enemies. He gets sons. In his 27th year he may have daughter or conveyance or success over enemies or success in endeavors. Mars in malefic sign or in conjunction with malefics may give wonderful success over enemies & hurdles. It gives success in jobs connected with control of crime or diseases or enemies. It may give one colic pain. Mars in sign of Mercury may give skin diseases. Benefic aspect on Mars may ward off such evils. In the 7th house :- Mars in the 7th house may give a sick wife (partner). Mars in a malefic sign or also in own sign conjoined with malefic may cause loss of wife (partner). Mars in conjunction with benefic may give one foreign travel or say, one may earn his livelihood by some travelling job. Mars in exaltation, own or friendly sign or in conjunction with benefic may moderate evil results. Mars in malefic sign, in conjunction with or being aspected by malefics may make one perverse in sex-matters, a drunkard, a debauche and a criminal. Mars - Saturn or Mars-Ketu combine in the 7th house is more unwelcome. Benefic aspect on Mars may ward off such evils. In the 8th house- Mars in the 8th house may give eye trouble. It may half or cut short life. It may cause urinary troubles or rectum troubles. It may cause evil to father. It may give few sons. It gives colic pain. It gives happiness from wife (In case of female Mars in 8th house gives widowhood though in case of male it does not make one a widower). Mars in conjunction with benefics, however, may give good health, good longevity and also prosperity. Mars in malefic sign, conjoined with or aspected by malefic24 Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology may cause consumption, gastric trouble or urinary trouble, piles- fistula or diseases of rectum. It may give middle life. (Afflicted Mars in 8th house mostly gives sudden and violent end of life) If 8th lord is combined with strong or benefic planets, it confers long life. In the 9th house:- Mars in the 9th house may cause evil to father. It may make one unlucky.(Mars in enemical or debilitated sign or Mars in affliction may give evil results) If 9th lord is combined with strong planets, brothers may be long-lived. The native may be very lucky. He may be devoted to God, preceptors and elders. In the 10th house:- Mars in the 10th house makes one a popular leader. Mars in conjunction with malefics causes hurdles in endeavors. Mars in conjunction with benefices or Mars in benefics sign gives success in all endeavors. It gives name and fame, power, position and wealth even at young age. The native may have strong and stout body. He is capable of doing any work. If Mars in the 10th house is combined with the 9th and 10th lords, the native may be endowed with ruling power. Mars- Jupiter combines in the 10th house confers vehicles and landed property. It makes one very fortunate. Mars in conjunction with malefics in a malefic sign may cause professional hurdles or it may induce the native towards some evil deed. (Mars in the 10th house is Digabali) In the 11th house:- Mars in the 11th house may make one wealthy. The native may be proficient in various endeavors. He may quickly profit by his merits. In the 12th house:- Mars in the 12th house may make one bereft of wealth. It may cause windy and bilious complaints. Mars in conjunction with malefics may make one hypocrite. Mars in the 12th house is found to be causing eye trouble confinement, hospitalisation, loss of limb, accident, sudden or violent end of life, kidnapping or drowning etc.Mercury n Lagna:- Mercury in Lagna makes one learned and well read in Sastras He will be married. He may travel many lands. He may be always on legs. He may be a Mantrik or a Tantric or an expert in witchcraft capable of warding off evils caused by spirits. He may be sweet in speech, scholarly, kind at heart and pardonable by nature. He may visit religious shrines at the age of 27. In his 27th year he may have numerous kinds of gains. If Mercury occupies some malefic sign or if it is conjoined with some malefic, it may confer a pale and diseased may give healthy body. It may cause jaundice, hepatitis and liver trouble. Mercury in a benefic sign or in conjunction with a benefic body. He may be proficient in astrology. Afflicted Mercury may cause eye trouble or loss of limb. There may be family feud at the age of 17 or the native may be cheated. Mercury in Virgo or Gemini may give full brotherly affections. Afflicted Mercury may cause eye trouble( mental trouble too). The native may be a worshipper of evil Devatas. Mercury in conjunction with benefics oP aspect of Jupiter on Mercury may make one wealthy happy, healthy and learned in various subjects such as armoury, mathematics astrology, logic (and also science, economics, commerce, finance, accounts, journalism etc.) Note:- Mercury being Karaka of intellect and education in a way rules over all kinds of education. Mercury in Lagna, 4th, 5th, 6th, 12th and 7th house may influence mental health adversely if it is afflicted in more than one way.Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology 27 In the 2nd house :- Mercury in the 2nd house may give prosperity to sons. The native may be talkative but very learned. He may be a man of strong determination to fulfil his ends. He may be wealthy. He may be meritful. He may display his abilities in various branches of learning even at the age of 15. He may have various gains. Mercury in conjunction with malefié or Mercury in debilitated or enemical sign may make the native devoid of learning. The native may have a wicked disposition or cruelty in nature. He may have gastric or windy complaints. Benefics in conjunction with Mé€reury or beneficial aspect on such Mercury may make him both rich and learned. If Jupiter conjoins or aspects such Mercury, the native may be proficient in mathematics. (Commerce, Banking, Accounts, Auditing and Economics etc.) In the 3rd house:- Mercury in the 3rd house gives brothers and happiness. It may give son at an early age. It may confer wealth and virtues of many kinds. A strong 3rd lord confers long life and endurance. It may also give long-lived brothers. Afflicted 3rd lord may cause troubles to brothers. In the 4th house:- Mercury in the 4th house may make one happy and learned. The native may always be moving his hands. He may have beautiful eyes. He may have parental happiness and vehicles. If Mercury is combined with Jupiter, Venus and Saturn or if 4th lord is combined with strong planets the native may have a number of vehicles. Mercury-Saturn-Rahu or Ketu in 4th house may deprive one of vehicles, lands and happiness. He may have domestic quarrels too. In the 5th house:- Mercury in Sth house may give happiness from mother. It may make one wise and sweet in speech. Such a native may be intelligent. He, however,28 Bhrigu on Predictive Astrology may have some kind of progenic trouble. If 5th lord is conjoined with malefics or is otherwise weakened, it may cause loss of sons or the native may adopt a son or the native may bea sinner engrossed in Tantric Abhichars. In the 6th house:- Mercury in the 6th house may cause obstruction in education but it makes one cunning and quarrelsome. The native may have royal favour in his 30th year. As 7th house rules over livelihood, presence of 7th lord in the 10th house may give some govt. job or the native may be in trade. 7th house rules over trade also. Presence of 7th Jord in the 12th house in our opinion may prove to be quite advantageous for those in some foreign assignments or in foreign trade and business.8th Lord According to Bhrigu, 8th lord in various houses may give results as follows :- (1) 8th lord in Lagna makes the native suffer from various diseases. According to him, 11th lord appears to be rather the most auspicious lord because it gives auspicious results in all the houses in more or less degree. Even in the 8th house 1]th lord makes one quite wealthy. Lomasa has also held the same view. As the 11th lord in the 8th house will aspect the 2nd house, it must make one wealthy. It so appears to our mind that Krishna. Murthy who attached so much importance to the 11th house and 1 Ith lord might have taken some cue from study of Bhrigu also.12th lord According to Bhrigu, 12th lord in various houses may give results as follows :- (1) 12th lord in Lagna makes one quite liberal and large - hearted. The native is quite fortunate. He is handsome to look at and wears costly clothes. (2) 12th lord in the 2nd house makes one spend only one's self-earned wealth and income. The native stays for some time in his homeland but spends most parts of his time away from home or abroad. (3) 12th lord in the 3rd house does not confer happi- ness from brothers. It makes one frail in old days. (4) 12th lord in the 4th house gives a little happiness some how or other. Such a native gives trouble to mother in her old age. (5) 12th lord in the Sth house , if not aspected by any benefic, is always troublesome for one's progeny (6) 12th lord in the 6th house destroys enemies. It makes one rich, affluent and learned. The native gets great honour from the govt. lt means that the 12th lord in the 6th house may also make one a high govt. official (7) 12th lord in the 7th house makes the native trouble- some for his wife but it must weaken his enemies. Conclusion After experience of more than thirty years I have arrived at the conclusion that Bhrigu is the real fountainhead of Hindu Predictive Astrology. There are several instances where incidents can be explained only through or better through the help of rules framed out by Bhrigu. It is for this reason that I have authored this useful book.
