    International trade in agriculture and food products has grown significantly over the years. World food exports show the increasing importance of horticulture, fisheries, meat, dairy, and processed foods. India aims to be a major player in global agriculture markets by 2020, but currently accounts for only 0.5% of world trade in these areas despite being a top producer of fruits, vegetables, and grains. Training farmers and exporters on technical and decision-making skills at each stage of the export process is important to improve the competitiveness of Indian agricultural exports. This workshop provides modules on post-harvest technology, quality management, packaging, regulations, and developing overseas markets and business to boost agricultural exports from India.

    International trade in agriculture and processed food products has


    expanded enormously over the years with world exports. World food exports
    highlight the growing importance of horticulture, fisheries, meat and dairy
    products and processed food products. Vision 2020 envisages that by 2020, India
    will be a powerhouse of Indian agriculture. Agriculture export challenges for
    farmers and newly registered exporters in terms of decision-making and technical
    knowledge. At world level production despite our 2nd position in fruit &
    vegetables & 3rd in food grains our share in global trade is mere 0.5 % and India
    is considered minor player in the global market. Training at each stage of export
    becomes important to boost competitiveness of agricultural exports from India.
