With the BAXORTER Vanderlande offers a cost-effective
baggage sorting solution that meets a wide range of airport
demands. The BAXORTER has a capacity of 3,000 trays per
hour and high flexibility in the number of outputs to flights or
destinations. This makes it ideal for many smaller to mediumsize airport applications, where it meets demands for:

Additionally the gentle and predictable sorting principle,
without the need for chutes, enables sorting of bags while
maintaining their orientation, making it an ideal sorting
technology for screening applications where a fail-safe
tracking of bags is essential.

Reduces operating cost

The BAXORTER ensures outstanding levels of reliability

and sort quality. It offers the possibility to reduce
manpower costs and meet increasingly stringent
ergonomic regulations. At the same time it improves
control of the baggage handling process and eliminates
the mis-sorts that frequently happen with manual
handling. Energy consumption of the BAXORTER is at
least 15% lower compared to a conventional carousel
sorter by using an energy-efficient drive for combined
transport and sorting of bags.

Fits small areas

With its compact design the BAXORTER fits into limited floor
areas. Sorting is possible to both right and left sides with a
small output pitch, making optimum use of available space.
Building height requirements are minimised because baggage
is sorted out horizontally.

Flexible for future growth

The BAXORTER is specifically designed to fill the gap in midrange sorting applications. Offering an alternative between highcapacity, high-cost sorting systems and low-capacity carousel
systems, the BAXORTER optimises the baggage handling process
with combinations of pre-sort and final sort, in which a single
system cost-effectively handles all sorting tasks.

Robust design

The robust design of the BAXORTER uses friction drive

technology which is also applied in the proven TRIPLANAR
carousel, of which more than 1,000 units have been installed
worldwide. The friction drive ensures uninterrupted operation
and significantly reducing the need for service. Sustainable
materials are applied, such as the low-noise wheels and ecoeffective, long-lasting bamboo for the tray.

Predictable sorting with controlled baggage orientation

Positive sorting

Sorting is done with divert blades that gently guide

bags into the destination output, with varying sort
orientations to match the angles of the output chutes
or belts. This positive divert action ensures reliable,
predictable sorting, with a low impact on baggage
and high conveyability for baggage of widely varying
shapes and sizes. The closed deck prevents loose
handles and straps from becoming trapped in the
transport mechanism.

Standard controller

Sorting is controlled by a dedicated sort controller,

optionally linked with a SAC (Sort Allocation Computer).
The controller includes functionality for remote
service and diagnostics reporting to external SCADA
and management information systems, allowing
continuous process improvement and performance
optimisation.
