Gabrielino is a very good school! There's a waiting list to get into this school because of its academic reputation and it's small size. There's a lot if parent involvement
which gives it a private school feel without the additional cost. Students are successful and have many opportunities to excel in business, art, science, music, sports,
speech etc. my children attended and were very well prepared for college (UC campus). The staff take pride in their students and their school. Our community takes pride
in Gabrielino. Come by and visit and you'll feel the Tongva spirit!

Gabrielino is an excellent school. The students are motivated, the school grounds are safe and clean, and the students are challenged academically. The principal
appears to be setting a great example, as I have seen her and her staff at several events (academic events, Speech and Debate, sporting events, etc.) It's clear that the
entire school community (administration, counselors, students, teachers, coaches, staff, parents) all work closely and take pride in this educational environment. As a
parent whose children have attended San Gabriel Unified schools since kindergarten, I can say that even though SGUSD may be small, it is mighty. And "Gab", as the
pinnacle of their experience, is a great way to end this experience as they prepare for their futures. Gab is still one of the Best HS in the US (Silver) by US News and
World report. (156th best in California, 769th in the Nation) Go, Eagles!

Gabrielino seems to be proud of the 246th US News HS ranking. Look closely, it is not that impressive knowing other HS in the region mostly ranked higher. Although it
is unfair to compare with SM, Arcadia, SP, or TC, still Gabrielino comes behind SGH, Alhambra, Arroyo, Monterey Park with the same demographic characteristics,
making GHS one of the lower ranking HS in the region. Also notice that a handful of Gabrielino graduates actually go on to descent colleges. I don t think the school is
bad. The members that sit on the SGUSD school board just have to do a better job to ensure Gabrielino stays competitive and strong. Some board members are
incapable and some are career politicians that don t have a vision or clue of how to make a better school. Hope the election will bring in some fresh blood to flush out the
system.

I would like to say that this school's learning environment is very nice. There is not really anything in the school or classrooms that can negatively affect how the students
learn. Some teachers are better than others, but most of them are pretty good at teaching and have a lot of patience. This school is extremely competitive, academically
and in athletics. Being in a sport in this school will teach you many things and provide an unforgettable experience. Some say that for a high school, Gabrielino is tiny,
but I see this as a positive attribute on Gabrielino. This allows students to bond and know people more easily and we get to feel more like a family, than just random
people. This school is still kind of new and is constantly growing. What I'd really like to see added into this school is a swimming pool. Oh, and the food is important.
Sure there are snacking stores available for students to buy at for lunch, but the lunch that they serve is not the greatest. Gabrielino recently changed their pizza, and
after trying it for myself and hearing it from a lot of people, it tastes like cardboard. Their best lunch, in my opinion, is the teriyaki bowl. It usually never dissapoints.

This school does such a good job at making students a unique individual and not just another number. The teachers are great who teach with enthusiasam and not just
because it's thier job. This school also has great school spirit.

Staff seems genuinely committed and involved - it's nice to see them at extracurricular events! Lot's of parent involvement! I see a lot of the same people volunteering, and
I wish I could do more, but maybe it goes back to the 80-20 Rule. The PTA is ALWAYS asking for volunteers so it's not for a lack of trying. The PTA is huge at this school
and provides a lot of funds for programs, supplies and events. I don't know all of the Board Members personally, it seems like a pretty diverse crowd (age & race wise), but
again, it'd be nice to see some new faces and maybe a couple dads. Some of the parents seem to have a sense of entitlement; to the point of thinking they can request
certain teachers. This is a public school - you get what you get and you don't get upset. It is interesting to note, that over the years I've seen at least 3 families pull their
kids out to go to private school and then come back a year or two later, proclaiming that private school wasn't all that they thought it would be. At times, I think some
parents are annoyed that they aren't at the school district a mile north, but can't afford the extra taxes, housing costs that moving there would entail.

Coolidge is an amazing school! The principal, teachers, staff, and PTA impress me every day with their dedication to the students. There are so many engaged parents. I
would highly recommend this school. I like having my children attend a school where I can feel so comfortable talking to the principal, teachers, and staff. They care and it
shows.

***xxx*** Coolidge has been a great school for years. The climate of the school has been warm, inviting, friendly, and you just got a sense that this was a great place to
send your kids to school. For the past few years the school seems to be changing, and I am afraid to say, it has been for the negative. Before I go on, I need to say that
the community surrounding Coolidge is great. It has low crime, an educated population, good sports and extra curricular activities. Concerns: The transparency between
the administration and parents is getting blurry. The school is starting to go down the path of doing what s best for the administration/staff and not what s best for the kids
and the community. There is a growing concern, among current parents, about the conflict of interest, in the number of substitutes that are parents of current students,
who are very active in the current PTA, even though they might be qualified to be a substitute. Positives: Coolidge has a great PTA who supports the school by funding
instructors for PE, Art, and Music. The top 3 annual PTA functions for the kids are: the end of year talent show, spring festival, and the student spirit sticks. Updates to
come.

I have two children who attend Coolidge, and we absolutely love it! The principal is fair, professional, and knowledgeable. The staff is enthusiastic and kind. I have found
that the teachers, as well as administration, work as a team with the parents for the children. My kids are excited about school and learning new things- this is a
testament to the entire staff. We have been a part of the Coolidge family for several years and are very impressed!

at their jobs..

As a parent of a student to Jefferson Middle School, I think that the schools's one of the best middle schools I have ever seen. For starters, although not all, most
teachers are very passionate about learning, are very engaged with students, and really want their students to succeed. Along with that, the school has integrated
common core, and even my son, a bright 8th grader, wrote several poems about science, math, and an arts program in Honors, or AP English class. In his Honors
History class, his teacher had him write an essay (Language Arts) about his own take on certain debates. The school is also extremely fortunate that it still offers multiple
electives and arts programs, for example, JMS offers 2 levels of Art, 3 different levels of Orchestra, Band, an award winning Mock Trial team, rigorous computer courses,
and my personal favorite, the Speech and Debate team. A nationally ranked team, it's practically built up it's own dynasty. In fact, recently my son informs me we took
home almost every trophy for several categories! The coach is an amazing and wonderful person. Personally, Jefferson is an excellent school to attend.

I am very happy with my experience as the parent of a sixth grader last year. He did not end up with all the great teachers. There was one particular teacher I would have
changed if I could. But that IS how life is. I wanted him to learn to live with and work with a "difficult" teacher. And it worked out really well. So, in addition to academic
knowledge he had some real life lessons. He will be starting grade 7 this fall and we are looking forward to it.

I think Jefferson is great! The campus is nice, and it's teachers are really great. Jefferson has computer classes, an orchestra and a band, and many classes that you can
choose from. It's mock trial won the California Championship in 2011 and it's Robotics won 1st place a few years back, and 3rd place just two years ago and continued to
Championship Opens.

Some teachers really cared for their students acchievements, some teachers didn't at all. But if your kid is lucky they will have caring teachers.Or maybe after reading
this review, you might want to pick and choose your teachers, is that possible? My 8th grader was here for 3 yrs, now graduating in June, had great caring teachers.Gave
him alot of support and always had me in the loop with what was happening to him academically. But unfortunately for my 6th grader, right from the first open house, after
speaking to his teachers, I knew that the teachers were not as caring as the other groups of teachers. He had light homework and hardly any projects, but he was doing
okay, til 3rd quarter, failed one subject, but I didn't found out til report card came to my home, his teachers never notified me for a parent conference. Teacher didn't return
my call til weeks later. To make things worst, he got picked on by other students, shoved onto the floor and gotten hurt. If I sound like an overly protected parent, Nope,
very strict with both my boys and neither one of them are trouble makers. Just one more week of school, my only ? is will we be back for 7th grade, probably not.

I went to jms from 6-7th grade and absolutely loved it. It was like a big huge family that always supported, helped you through everything. The teachers were kind and
caring. In my experience it is a very supportive and caring environment. The teachers are the best part there the people who make it happen.
