1. A product layout has different workplace or workstation depending upon each
product per workstation being operated. While in process layout, the workplace
or workstation together depending to the work, disregarding the product being
performed. Example of product layout, stations for sewing cloth, sewing on
buttons, inspecting seams, wrapping finished garments and boxing them up. In
process layout, multiple sewing stations together for different clothing items in
one area, then locate inspection, wrapping and packaging stations for different
items together in different areas.
2. Plant layout means preparation or arrangement of machines, tools and
equipment to make the movement of the material easy and quickly at low cost
and minimum amount of handling of the product from the receipt of raw material
to the distribution of final product.
3. Selection of materials in manufacturing is important to make a successful
product. Choosing the right material in manufacturing to assure and predict the
life of a product. To make it more economical in the industry. And to be more
competitive in the market.
4. Manufacturing system is making a product that depending in various factors. It
involves how quickly the product needs, the specification, and how much the
product needed.
5. The major classifications of basic manufacturing processes are Lean
manufacture, Flexible manufacture, Just in Time manufacture and Agile
manufacture.
6. The criteria in economical production are the minimal cost of raw materials and
the quality.
7. The understanding of manufacturing processes is essential for better products
because its provide guidance for making a product. It ensures the long life quality
of a product for better use for people. It helps for choosing the right going to use
for a product to make it safe for the human use.
8. There are various factors responsible for plant locations. First is Input and labor
where the plant should locate to the place where the good resources are near
and available. Second is transportation cost, it is to minimize the transportation
cost for delivering raw materials and the finished product being delivered. Last is
based on environmental factors, the nature earth can tell where to place the plant
location. The plant location should away from the strong calamities because its
strongly affect whole plant.
9. Plant layout refers to the arrangement of the equipment and other features of the
plant. The objectives of plant layout are: Being comfortable of the worker.

Improved working conditions. Minimize delay in production and making more


efficient.
10. Plant layout and shop layout is closely the same. It is only differ because of the
size of layout.
11. The difference between joining and assembly processes is that the joining
processes is combining to object in fixed while assembly processes is combining
the part partially.

13. The types of production system are intermittent and continuous production
system. The intermittent production system means its start and stop in irregular
timing or situation while continuous production system operates constantly.
14. Production is means manufacturing goods for their use or sale. Productivity is the
rate at which goods are produced.
