Brigandine: Grand Edition Character Recruitment Guide Ver.1.0
02/08/10
Created by Leland3 (Leland_Cador@yahoo.com)
Hello again, everyone! This is my second attempt to make a FAQ so please bear
with me if you see any mistakes or errors. I'll try to fix and add more
stuffs as I go on. In this guide I'll cover all the recruitable characters
for this game, also I'll give the information about the secret class
"Shadow", as well as how to get Lance class "King", and give you information
about some diffrences in Multi Player Mode.
Email me if you have any comments, questions or found any error in this
FAQ. Please note that in this guide I'll not write about the characters you

start with in each countries, or I'll not write about the characters stat
growth. Just how to recruit the characters you can get on your play!
I hope people will enjoy this game even more with this guide,
and have all characters you can have in your playing. Enjoy ;)

This FAQ was created to help people to know how exactly you need to
do to get one character (I've seen many discussions, almost all of them
are wrong methods some bad people made up to mislead other people
into wasting their time without being able to get the character he
wanted). And also credit me or let me know if you are going to use
this FAQ elsewhere.
Ver. 0.1
For the time being, I just listed method of recruiting characters in
each countries, and how to get all the quest Knights. Also the requirement
to get the secret class "Shadow", how to get Lance class "King", information
about the difreences in Multi Player Mode.
Ver.1.0
Added information about maximum knight numbers for each country.
Added information about knights you will get when you dont choose
Esgares and let it destroys a country. Corrected some information.

1) Intro:
There are four types of charactes in this game: Special event
characters that only a specific country can have, Quest characters
that you get after sending your knight to do quest and complete the
requirements, Waiting Characters that you can do nothing but wait,
Battle Event Knights and Characters that you will get after
one country is defeated.
Special Note: This game is a different game, it's not the same as
Brigandine Legend of Forsena, so don't apply the method in this
guide for Brigandine Legend of Forsena!
In this game, the Enemy countries also send their Knights to do quest,
so if they are luckier than you, they can get the Quest characters.
Important Note: The random rate in this game can be changed by sending
few knights to quest, go to a battle, change the battle formation.
Ex1: If you save in the middle of a battle, Zemeckis has about 100 HP, now
it's your Vaynard move, you can use Vaynard to kill Zemeckis in one attack.
Now if after the battle you don't get what you want, reload, use a weak
monster to attack Zemeckis first to reduce his HP, then use Vaynard to
kill him: after battle it'll be different.
Ex2: If you save in an organization phase of a turn and you send 3 knights

to quest, the next turn you dont get what you want, reload, send 1 more
knight, or 1 less knight, or send different knights... will change the random
rate.
In this game, one month = 2 turns, so one month will be divided into
two part: the first part of that month, and the second part of that
month. Ex: the first part of 5th month year 215, or the second part of
1st month year 217. The only way to know which part of the month you're
in is to save, end the turn, if it's still the same month then you were in
the first part, if it's the next month then you were in the second part.
2) Quest Knights:
You get them by sending your knights to do quest. Esgares can
only get Carmine, Rod.
a. Aldis: Requirement:
- Quest to meet her (1/288 chance, very low)
- After meeting her, reduce your castle numbers to at most 3, have the knight
met her at any caslte (do not send him to quest), don't have
total 140 monsters, she'll come to the castle of the knight
met her and join.
b. Cortina: Requirement: from the second part of 4th month year 215,
1/6 chance
c. Clarence: Requirement: from the second part of 7th month year 215,
1/6 chance
d. Hyude: Requirement: from the first part of 9th month year 215, 1/6 chance
e. Limlight: Requirement: send Hyude to quest, 1/6 chance
f. Rod: Requirement: from the first part of 11th month year 215, 1/6 chance
- After 8 turns, Rod's at one castle (not doing quest), he'll leave
your army temporary.
- After 2 turns of Rod's leaving, send the knight met him to quest,
he'll rejoin.
f. Sheluna: Requirement: from the first part of 12th month year 215,
1/6 chance, the knight to do quest must not have heal spell
g. Dogal: Requirement: from the second part of 1st month year 216,
1/6 chance
h. Sheridan: Requirement: from the first part of 3rd month year 216,
1/6 chance
i. Aaron: Requirement: from the second part of 4th month year 216,
1/6 chance, have at least 12 castles, the knight to do quest must be
a male knight
j. Cathleen & Klauques: Requirement: from the first part of 6th month
year 216, 1/6 chance, the knight to do quest must have heal spell
k. Layoneil: Requirement: from the second part of 7th month year 216,
1/6 chance
l. Almina: Requirement: from the first part of 9th month year 216,
1/6 chance, the knight to do quest must have one of these spells:
Divine Ray, Meteor Doom, Curse, Extra Blast, Fall Berg, Geno Thunder
To make it easy, I'll give a list of classes that has at least one of these
spells:
lv 10--> lv 19: Bishop, Sorcerer, Sorceress, Druid, Mystic
lv 20+: Black Knight, Cardinal, Wizard, Witch, Necromancer,
Paladin, Sage, Saint
m. Neville: Requirement: from the second part of 10th month year 216,
1/6 chance, must not have the highest number of castles on the map
in comparison to all other countries
n. Peryner: Requirement: At the beginning of one of these three turn:
the second part of 11th month year 216, the first part of 12th month

year 216, the second part of 12th month year 216 have both Hyude and
Limlight in one castle (not doing quest), they'll automatically go to quest
together. Peryner will join in the first part of 1st month year 217.
o. Vanessa: Requirement: from the first part of 12th month year 216,
1/6 chance, the knight to do quest must be a female knight
p. Belgar: Requirement: from the second part of 1st month year 217,
1/6 chance, the knight to do quest must have at least 88 Str
q. Balder: Requirement: from the first part of 3th month year 217, 1/6 chance
r. Shiraha: Requirement: from the 2nd turn after Esgares is destroyed,
1/6 chance, the knight to do quest must not be a former Esgares's knight
s. Mira & Millet: Requirement: Your country must destroy Esgares,
from the 2nd turn after Esgares is destroyed, 1/6 chance
t. Rain: Requirement: Your country must destroy Esgares, Mira & Millet
and Your Ruler in the same castle (not doing quest), 1/6 chance
u. Rangunius: Requirement: send Rain to quest, 1/6 chance
v. Carmine: Requirement:
- Advance to Disc 2
- Send both Mira & Millet to quest at the same time, 1/6 chance.
- After 11 turns of meeting him, Mira & Millet at the same castle
(not doing quest), he'll come to their castle to meet them and join.
Note: Mira & Millet quest in this game Brigandine Grand Edition is completely
different from Brigandine Legend of Forsena. In Brigandine LOF, you can
let whatever country destroy Esgares and you can still have Mira & Millet.
In this game, you must destroy Esgares your own in order to have them.
3) Waiting Knights:
(Esgares can only get Helrato)
a. Helrato: Requirement: from the second part of 7th month year 216,
other country sends its knight to do quest and get Layoneil, the next turn
it's randomly that you may get him (if you dont get him, reset, send
few knights to quest, go to battle etc.. so that the random rate change
and you may get him)
b. Kazan: Requirement: from the 3rd turn after Esgares is destroyed,
other country sends its knight to do quest and get Shiraha, the next turn
it's randomly that you may get him (if you dont get him, reset, send
few knights to quest, go to battle etc.. so that the random rate change and
you may get him)
Note: Play in Hard difficulty and the computer will send its knights to
do quest more regularly.
4) Battle Event Knights
(Esgares can only get the Rand family)
a. Schutleis: Requirement: The first country to capture a castle
from Esgares.
b. The Rand family: They are Miguel from Iscalio, Liguel from
New Almekia and Castor from Esgares. If they meet their
sibling in battle without any special conversation
(such as Lance meet Zemeckis in battle for the first time),
they'll chat and one of them may leave his/her country
to join up with his/her sibling.
If Liguel meet Castor in battle, Castor will join up with Liguel.
If Miguel meet Liguel in battle, Liguel will join up with Miguel.
If Liguel & Castor meet Miguel in battle, Miguel will join up with
Liguel & Castor.

If Liguel meet Castor & Miguel in battle, Castor & Miguel will
join up with Liguel.
If Liguel & Miguel meet Castor in battle, Castor will join up
with Liguel & Miguel.
If Miguel meet Castor in battle, Miguel & Liguel are in the
same country, Castor will join up with Miguel, but if Miguel
& Liguel are not in the same country, nothing will happen.
5) Knights you get after one country is defeated
When you defeat one country, you will get:

If the country you defeat has the following Quest Knights, they'll

****Helrato: You can only have him if you dont have Layoneil in your army
*Extra Special Note*: If Esgares destroys the country has Schutleis, Vanessa,
Layoneil, they'll randomly join other countries to get revenge, in this case
Layoneil may join the country has Helrato. If you manage to have Helrato
first, then allow Esgares to destroy the country has Layoneil, then you may

have both Layoneil and Helrato in your army.

When other country defeat one country, it's randomly that
you may get these knights (if you dont get them, reset, send
few knights to quest, go to battle etc.. so that the random

(Esgares can only get Helrato)
Note: If you choose New Almekia or Caerleon and you have not broken the
alliance, when your ally (Caerleon if you choose NA, NA if you choose

*****Shred: To make Shred appear, you need to reduce Esgares's castle

numbers to at most 2 castles, Cador will leave Esgares. Then, from the next
turn, anytime Logres is captured directly from Esgares and Esgares is
not destroyed, Shred will appear in Esgares army.
(it means, after Cador's leaving, if Esgares is not owning Logres,
let Esgares capture Logres, then capture Logres again from Esgares to
make Shred appear)
Note_1: If you choose Nogard and destroy Leonia, Langueborg wont join you
but Charlene will join you. If you dont choose Nogard and let Nogard destroy
Leonia, you may randomly get Langueborg.
Note_2: Raizen and Bagdemagus are two special characters. Any time their
country is defeated by another country (not you), you may randomly get them.
For example: You defeated Iscalio, Bagdemagus joined Nogard, then Esgares
defeats Nogard, Bagdemagus may join you.
*Special Note*: If you don't choose Esgares and let it destroy New Almekia,
Leonia or Caerleon, you may get:
New Almekia

Adilicia

Batercus
Carlota
Caerleon

Cierra
Shast
Jandafar

Leonia

(if his country is destroyed by a country has Helrato
or by Esgares)

Also, when his/her country is defeated, the Rand family

(Liguel, Miguel, Castor) will join the country that has his/ her sibling.
It's randomly whether you defeat his/her country or you let other country

- Esgares may get Liguel, Miguel

then send both Millia and Eloute to quest at the same time.
d. Lecarra: Requirement: Gush has joined for at least 3 turns,
have all Eloute, Gush and Millia in the same castle,
then send all Eloute, Gush and Millia to quest at the same time.
9) Event Knights for Iscalio
None
10) Event Knights for Leonia
a. Baleen & Galowand: Requirement: From the first part of 4th month year 215,
Kiloph is at one castle (not doing quest)
b. Georg: Requirement: From the first part of 6th month year 215,
send a knight to quest, 1/6 chance.
11) Esgares:
Having at least 26 castles (Cador'll leave) will advance you to Disc 2.
a. Carmine: Requirement:
- Advance to Disc 2
- Send both Mira & Millet to quest at the same time, 1/6 chance.
- After 11 turns of meeting him, Mira & Millet at the same castle,
not doing quest, he'll come to their castle to meet them and join.
b. Shred: Requirement:
- Advance to Disc 2
- From the third turn of Disc 2, have Logres, Esmeree is at one castle
(not doing quest)
Note: If you want to keep Soleil, don't let Shred appear by letting the
enemy capture Logres, and make Logres the last castle you capture in
Disc 2, you'll go straight to fight Bulnoil with Soleil in your army and
Shred wont appear.
12) Secret Class Shadow:
It's the Ninja class in Brigandine LOF, now in Brigandine Grand Edition it's
being called Shadow.
When you have Shiraha or Kazan in your country, your male knights with
lvl >= 10, reach the Expert status of the Ranger class, str >= 55 and
agi >= 60 can change into Shadow class.
That means, unlike Brigandine LOF, in this game even if you play as Esgares,
you cannot change any of your knights to Shadow right away, because none of
your starting knights have reached the Expert status of the Ranger class.
If you play as another country, you'll have to defeat Esgares and then get
Shiraha or Kazan.
In this game, unlike Brigandine LOF:
Shadow +5 lvl = advance to Shadow Master, Shadow Master + 5 lvl = Expert
Note: You can train your knights to become Ranger - Shadow - Shadow Master
right after you have either Shiraha or Kazan, you DONT NEED to train
Shiraha/ Kazan to Exprert status or to train them to Shadow Master, it's just
false rumor bad people made to waste your time.
One more thing, if you have mastered the Shadow Master class for a knight
and change him to another class, he wont have the Twice moves (React) ability
like when he's in the Shadow Master class, he'll only have the Hit & Run
ability.

13) Lance class King

Lance is the ruler of New Almekia, he's starting at lvl 1 Prince.
To make his class change to King, the requirements are:
- Esgares is destroyed (any country destroy it would be fine)
- New Almekia has Logres castle.
If you destroy Esgares last, Lance wont become King but you go straight
to fight Bulnoil.
14) Multi Player mode:
Only available for this game: Brigandine GE.
3 Scenarios and a hidden Scenario which will be available after finishing
the game once with Hard difficulty in Story Mode, remember to save when
it asks you to save after defeating the Snake of Chaos.
In Multi Player mode, you can arrange alliance between countries, ex: You
can make Leonia and Iscalio alliance, you can play in Hard difficulty without
time limit.
Basically, Character Recruiments are the same as in Story Mode, just some
differences in Multi Player mode:
For all Scenario: Carmine will never join, as he's a character from Disc 2,
Multi Player mode only take place in Disc 1.
a. Scenario 1:
New Almekia:
- Glauze will never join
- Halley will join whenever any country on the map has at least 14 castles,
and she will never leave.
Caerleon:
- Eloute, Gush, Lecarra will never join
Esgares:
- Cador, Meltorefas, Eniede will never leave
- Shred will never join
Quest Knight:
- Rod will never leave
b. Scenario 2:
Nogard:
- New Knights from the start: Luintail, Morholt, Carlota, Charlene, Chantail,
Clarance, Layoneil, Schutleis
Caerleon:
- New Knights from the start: Millia, Eloute, Gush, Lecarra, Lance, Gereint,
Adilicia, Isfas, Sheluna
Iscalio:
- New Knights from the start: Liguel, Langueborg, Cortina, Sheridan, Dogal,
Helrato
Esgares:
- New Knight from the start: Rod
- Missing Knight from the start: Esclados

- Cador, Meltorefas, Eniede will never leave

- Shred will never join
Quest Knights available:
- Aaron, Aldis, Almina, Balder, Cathleen, Klauques, Neville, Belgar,
Hyude, Limlight, Peryner, Vanessa
- After Esgares is destroyed: Shiraha, Mira & Millet, Rain, Rangunius
Waiting Knight:
- Kazan
c. Scenario 3:
Nogard:
- New Knights from the start: Soleil, Fiel, Ivan, Vanessa
- Missing Knight from the start: Noie
- Nogard's only Quest Knights: Mira, Millet, Rain, Rangunius
(other country can't get them in this Scenario)
Requirements: Just the same as in Story Mode.
Caerleon:
- New Knights from the start: Belgar, Neville, Balder
Iscalio:
- New Knights from the start: Shred, Roecod, Castor, Cathleen, Klauques
Quest Knights:
- Aaron, Aldis, Almina, Shiraha, Hyude, Limlight
Waiting Knight:
- Kazan
Battle Event Knight:
(Nogard can't get this knight)
- Kiloph: Requirement: the first country kills Vaynard in a battle.
d. Scenario 1': It's a secret Scenario.
You can unlock it by finishing the game in Hard difficulty of Story Mode,
save when you are asked to right after you defeat the Snake of Chaos.
On the very first screen, go to the Recollection, select the memory card
you saved above, then go back, start the game and the Scenario 1' will
appear.
This Scenario 1' is the same as Scenario 1, the only difference is in each
country there are high level monsters from the start, such as Loki, Thor,
Lilith, Lucifer, Seraph, Bahamut,...
15) Maximum number of

Knights for each country

Well I've decided to put it here for someone who loves numbers. When you
choose a country that is not Esgares, there are 25 quest knights you can
get, together with Schutleis = 26, and if you make both Helrato and Layoneil
join your country, it'll be = 27.
If you destroy a country, you get:
New Almekia = 2
Nogard = 2
Leonia = 2
Caerleon = 2

Iscalio = 2
Esgares = 3
If you let other country destroy a country, you get:
New Almekia = 2
Nogard = 3
Leonia = 3
Caerleon = 2
Iscalio = 2
Esgares = 2
but if you let other country destroy Esgares in this game, you wont get
5 quest knights: Mira, Millet, Rain, Rangunius, Carmine.
If you dont choose Esgares and let Esgares destroy New Almekia, Leonia or
Caerleon, you get:
New Almekia = 3
Leonia = 4
Caerleon = 3
Also, if you choose New Almekia, Iscalio or Esgares, you will get 2 more
from the Rand family.
For the knight numbers originally from 1 country, New Almekia has
15 knights, one of them is Halley who will join any country before the
final battle against Bulnoil; Leonia has 14; Nogard has 15; Caerleon has 12;
Iscalio has 12, Esgares has 19.
The key to get the maximum number of Knights is: You will only destroy
Esgares and one last country on the map, and you must let another country
do quest to get Layoneil (that country must not be the last country on the
map), and you must make sure the Helrato will join you, if not, reset to
change the random rate. And let Esgares destroys New Almekia, Leonia,
Caerleon to get you more knights.
a. New Almekia:
Maximum knight numbers = 15 + 27 + 17 = 59: the highest knight numbers
in this game.
I spent time to achieve it, here's my save file:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZV33T7GP
How I got it: First I let Leonia destroyed Nogard and get 3 knights. I wait
until Leonia got Layoneil and Helrato joined my army, then I let Esgares
destroyed Caerleon and get 3 knights. Then I let Esgares destroyed Leonia
and get 5 knights (one of them is Layoneil). Then I destroyed Esgares, got
Mira, Millet, Carmine, Rain, Rangunius.
The last enemy country on the map should be Iscalio. Before the final battle
with Bulnoil, I had 59 knights.
b. Nogard
Maximum knight numbers = 15 + 1 + 27 + 15 = 58
1 is Halley.
How to get it: Let Esgares destroys New Almekia, Caerleon, Leonia, then you
destroys Esgares. Make sure you have both Layoneil and Helrato and all quest

knights.
The last enemy country on the map should be Iscalio.
c. Caerleon
12 + 1 + 27 + 15 = 55
1 is Halley
How to get it: Let another country destroys Nogard, let Esgares destroys
New Almekia, Leonia, then you destroys Esgares.
Make sure you have both Layoneil and Helrato and all quest knights.
The last enemy country on the map should be Iscalio.
d. Iscalio
12 + 1 + 27 + 17 = 57
1 is Halley
How to get it: Let another country destroys Nogard, let Esgares destroys
New Almekia, Leonia, then you destroys Esgares.
Make sure you have both Layoneil and Helrato and all quest knights.
The last enemy country on the map should be Caerleon.
Note: For Iscalio, it's various choices, you would change Caerleon for
New Almekia or Nogard, just make sure if you change it for Nogard position,
you must let Esgares destroys Caerleon to get 3 knights.
e. Leonia
14 + 1 + 27 + 14 = 56
1 is Halley
How to get it: Let another country destroys Nogard, let Esgares destroys
New Almekia, Caerleon, then you destroys Esgares.
Make sure you have both Layoneil and Helrato and all quest knights.
The last enemy country on the map should be Iscalio.
f. Esgares
19 4 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 4 = 24
4 are: Cador, Eniede, Meltorefas, Soleil. 1 is Shred. Another 1 is Halley.
3 are quest knights: Helrato, Rod, Carmine
4 are Victoria, Daffy from Iscalio and 2 Rand family knights.
How to get it: You must destroy Iscalio your own in your game play.
Any country is the last country on the map is fine.
However, the maximum number knights in game you can get for Esgares is
25. It's 19 + 2 + 4 = 25.

How to get it:

- Dont get your caste numbers to at least 22 to keep Eniede and Meltorefas.
- Destroy Iscalio, then New Almekia to get 4: Victoria, Daffy, 2 Rand family
knights. The 2 quest knights are Rod and Helrato.
16) Easy leveling tips for you low level knights/ monsters
Easy, simply. When you reduce the castle number of one country to 1, dont
destroy it immediately. Try to trap it in a two ways position, such
as this: Your castle - Its castle - Your castle. Place the knight or
monster you wish to train there, each turn attack the castle, use Halo on the
one you want to train and let him/ it kills off two knights without killing
the Ruler of that country, each turn you would gain about 4000 exp for
your low level knights and he would be at level 30 very soon.
Knights with Halo spell: Cleric - Lector - Saint; Bishop - Cardinal;
Guardian.
Monsters with Halo spell: Pegasus; Arch Angel - Seraph - Lucifer.
