Adults on Probation 2
Magnitude of the Problem

Descriptive Discussion

This graph gives you a picture of the total number of individuals Incarcerated, on
2,293,157
Probation, or Parole. In the graph, you can see that there are 4,293,163 people on probation and
2,293,157 people incarcerated. Let’s not forget the people that are on parole, which are 824,365.
There were only a couple of states that was involved in the count of the above data. The states
4,293,16
include: Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Illinois, Nevada, and Washington.

Interpretive Discussion
824,36
The results in the5graph display large number of individuals that are going through the
justice system. There were only a few states involved and all the numbers appear to be larger
than what I expected; therefore I feel that the magnitude of this problem is very severe. The
number of people on probation is the largest amount, causing the number of people incarcerated
to be semi low because people on probation had to be incarcerated before.

Changes in the Problem

Descriptive Discussion

The bar graph states the changes over the years to the people that are incarcerated, on
probation or parole. In 2006 the number of incarcerated people reached its peak to about
2,293,157, when it was only 2,195,863 the number increase at least a 100,000. The number of
people on parole stayed steady throughout the years staying under 900,000.

Interpretive Discussion
The changes over the years of the people going through the justice grew outrageous over
the years. Each number expended in the thousands, clearly stating that over the years people are
continually stayed in trouble. There was no lesson being learned through the years. The number
of people on probation increase each year from 2005-2007. In 2006 the number of people
incarcerated tremendously grew over one year. The

Disparities in the Problem

Descriptive Discussion
1,300,200
The number of males is 6,027,500, which almost having a 5,000,000 difference in
females. In the states that I listed above have more males incarcerated than females.

Interpretive Discussion

The gender represents the disparity shown in the pie graph above. The total number of
6,027,500
males incarcerated is far off then female, no surprise. It is stated just about in records of male and
female population in both prison and jail, the male out beat the females. There are more males in
the street committing crime then a female. Females are often picked up for prostitution, where
males are selling drugs, or even killing people.

Scope of the Problem

Descriptive Discussion
This graph shows the widespread problem of incarcerated adults in different states. As
you can see Washington has the largest number with almost 18,000 incarcerated adults including
both male and females. Massachusetts is not too far behind with almost 12,000 incarcerated
adults.

Interpretive Discussion

This graph describes the scope of the people incarcerated in different states. The problem
is not big as a country whole; in each state the number is very large. This particular fact causes
the problem to be widespread; it’s not only happening in certain places, it’s all over the country.
There are often discussions that involve the future of incarcerated parent’s children.

Summary and Conclusion

In this paper all the graphs connects to the number of people on probation, parole or

incarcerated. Each graph discusses the change, magnitude, disparity, or scope of the problem.

While doing this research, I learned that children with incarcerated parents have a good

possibility of becoming incarcerated. I don’t think that’s true but, I do believe they have a big

impact on their lives. The data you reviewed on the previous pages are raw numbers of adults;

some distinguish whether it male or females. There are large numbers of adults incarcerated

rather than parole or probation. How do they expect their children o grow up without a mother,

father or even both.

There should be more jobs available for these people so that the incarceration, parole, and

probation rate can decrease instead of increasing. The people would focus their self on jobs

instead of being in the streets trying to get things the wrong way,
