Head and Face Protection

Important safety information

Do you work anywhere that requires head and face protection?
Industrial safety helmets are an essential item in many workplaces
such as building, mining, forestry and factory sites where a workers
head may be struck by a falling object or against a fixed object.
Safety helmets are also used in hot working environments or to
protect against electricalhazards.
Depending on the type of work you do you may
require additional accessories for added protection:

Eyeshield, faceshield, welding shield

A very wide brim for hot climates

Neck flaps for weather protection, molten metal

and other hot substances
Earmuffs

The life of a hard hat shell is generally three (3) years from date
of issue (not manufacture). AS/NZS 1801 recommends that head
harnesses be replaced every two (2) years. Replacement time
is dependant on the use and care of the hard hat. Any hard hat
showing signs of damage, discolouration or weathering prior to
these replacement times should be replaced immediately.

Helmets that comply with the thermal performance requirements

of AS/NZ 1801:1997 Occupational Protective Helmets. Can be used
for hot environments and are suitable for steel-making and similar
industries. An important feature of the helmet design is that all
the edges are smooth and have no sharp protrusions. For general
purpose use, choose white helmets as they provide better heat
reflection and can be seen in poor lighting conditions.
Bump caps are used in factories with overhanging machinery (such
as meat processing). They do not absorb the same level of impact as
the safety helmet and should not be used as a substitute.
For more information on head protection refer to Australian/New
Zealand Standards: AS/NZ 1800, Occupational Protective Helmets
AS/NZ 1801:1997.
Of course, choosing the right head and face protection depends on
the type of environment you work in. For an assessment contact
your local BOC specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.
BOC can also arrange to emboss your company logo on helmets
(minimum order quantity applies).

BOC accepts no liability for the incorrect choice of personal protective equipment. This information is a guide only. It is the responsibility of
the purchaser to ensure they have sought professional advice in relation to the use of products in a particular environment.

Auto-Darkening Welding Helmets (cont)

A welding helmet that breathes

The revolutionary Speedglas 9000 helmet series features four
aerodynamic exhaust vents to remove exhaled air without
letting in welding fumes. For welders who keep their helmets
in the down position for prolonged periods of time, the buildup of carbon dioxide (CO2) is greatly reduced compared to
traditional helmet designs. Users feel more energetic and clearheaded all day long. The 9000s breathability allowed the helmet
to be designed for a close-to-the-face fit, for optimum vision
and reduced neck strain. And the helmet's narrow width makes
it ideal for welding in tight spots.

Speedglas Flexview
Ideal for poor lighting conditions
The Speedglas FlexView has a big 120x90mm clear polycarbonate
plate that is ideal for a precision weld under low light conditions.
The user simply lifts up the spring-mounted Speedglas filter
assembly for weld prep. The spring holds the auto-darkening
filter securely on top of the helmet, giving the welder a
big, clear view behind the FlexView protection plate.
Upgrade Speedglas 9000 helmets to FlexView
Existing Speedglas 9000 helmets can be easily transformed
using the Speedglas FlexView Conversion Kit to install both
the welding filter holder and the clear polycarbonate plate.
Impact resistant
The clear FlexView protection plate conforms to
Australian Standards. The polycarbonate lens is appropriate
for grinding, sanding, cleaning and drilling, as well as the
protected inspection of newly-completed welds.

More windows on the world:

Speedglas SideWindows
The first time a welder puts on a Speedglas 9000 helmet with
SideWindows you can see his startled reaction. The welder
suddenly realises he can still see around himself. Previously,
hidden peripheral hazards (beams, obstacles, other workers)
are now visible through the two shade 5 side filters. Welders
can quickly and safely move around their work areas. Helmets
stay in the safe, down position more often, providing that much
more protection from harmful UV/IR radiation.

Auto-Darkening Welding Helmets (cont)

Speedglas ProTop
A perfectly balanced safety helmet for welders
Speedglas ProTop, a combination of safety helmet, welding
visor and auto-darkening filter, is especially designed for
welders working in areas with overhead hazards, such
as cranes, protruding beams and moving machinery.
The key to the Speedglas ProTop system is the exclusive
pivot mechanism that connects the welding visor to the
safety helmet. Traditional welding safety helmets create a
heavy forward centre-of-gravity when the welding visor
is raised; as a result, the user feels off-balance, and the
leveraged weight puts additional strain on neck muscles.
The ProTop pivot mechanism has two sets of axes; one
to lift the welding visor away from the welder's face, and
another axis tonest the welding visor down low over
the safety helmet in a perfectly balanced, locked-down
position. The welding visor automatically unlocks when the
welder pulls it back down into position over the face.

Introducing the Speedglas

9002 Series
From low-amp inverters to high-amp
welding and cutting
Through comprehensive research and development, we have
combined the low-amp TIG inverter performance of the
Speedglas 9000Xi with the wide versatility and features of the
9000V and 9000X to create the 9002 series.

More user-friendly choices than ever before

Four different user-selectable levels of detector sensitivity
are now available for each of the five dark shade levels. For
example, for a low-amp, stable arc, the filter can be set to shade
9 with a sensitivity of 4. In other situations, you can set the
detectors to be less sensitive, for example when doing MIG
welding with a few welders working close by.
The new detectors increase the welding filter's sensitivity range
for the most reliable switching over the widest range of welding
processes, including extremely stable arcs. This feature excels in
applications where the arc is partially obscured by pipes, tubes
or the welders hands. In addition, the 9002 series has a new
delay function that lets the user decide how quickly the filter
changes from dark to light.

No compromises needed
The new control buttons enhance adjustment of the filters
shade, sensitivity, delay, and on/off functions for personal
settings. By selecting just the right settings for each task, the
welder reduces eye strain and improves the quality of every
weld. All of these options are about user comfort, personal
preference, and having the filter perform exactly the way the
welder wants for each specific welding application.

Safety Equipment

Eye Protection

Important Safety Information

Are you exposed to harmful radiation?

Do you handle equipment that gives off ultra-violet radiation?

Are you at risk of chemicals splashing into your eyes?

Do you spend a lot of time working outdoors?

Are you exposed to flying fragments?

When choosing eyewear protection,

think about the following:

What is the nature of the risk to your eyes?

What are the conditions you will be working in?

What are the visual requirements of the task?

What is your personal preference

(e.g. comfort, look, style, weight, ventilation)?
What is your eyesight like?

Recommended Eye Protection

If you are exposed to a recognised eye injury risk at work, then a
safety program should be introduced. The purpose of such an eye
safety program should be to protect the workers eyes through
either elimination or control of hazards. Where it is not possible
to eliminate or control these eye hazards, personal eye protectors
should be worn at all times.
Low impact safety spectacles provide protection from low velocity
flying particles, with added side shields providing additional
protection against low velocity flying particles and stray radiation
from welding operations.
However, wearing low impact safety spectacles should only be the
minimum method of protection. It is not the design or intention
of low impact safety spectacles to provide protection against
particles of medium or high impact velocity and energy. For greater
protection, it is recommended that the worker wear goggles, widevision spectacles, wide vision goggles, eye shield, face shield or hood.
If you require protection against excessive sun glare or glare from
visible radiation, then a tinted lens should be used.
For more information on eye protection, refer to Australian
Standards AS 1336, AS/NZS 1337 Eye Protectors for Industrial
Applications and AS/NZS 1338 Filters for Eye Protection.
Naturally, choosing the right eye protection depends on the type
of environment you work in. For more information, contact your
local BOC specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

BOC accepts no liability for the incorrect choice of personal protective equipment. This information is a guide only. It is the responsibility of
the purchaser to ensure they have sought professional advice in relation to the use of products in a particular environment.

Hearing Protection

Important Safety Information

Is your workplace noisy?

Do people have to shout at each other at normal speaking distance to make themselves heard?

Do you go home with ringing in your ears?

Do you use equipment or tools that make loud noise?

Your ear is a delicate instrument. Tiny hair cells vibrate when

sounds reach them. Hair cells relay sound to the brain through
the auditory nerve.

Of course, choosing the right hearing protection depends on the

type of environment you work in. For more information, contact
your local BOC specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

Loud or frequent noises damage the hair cells. Over time, excessive
noise may cause the cells to die. Then the auditory nerve cannot
pick up the sound and relay it to the brain.Very loud noises, such as
jet engines and gun-fire, can damage hearing very quickly.

Noise is measured in units called decibels (dB).

Here are some decibel levels of common noises:

Other noises damage only after youve been around them for
hours. A noise that is 85 decibels wont hurt you in the short
run, but if youre around it for eight hours or more, you need
hearingprotection.
An essential part of hearing protection is a hearing protection
program. Details of such a program are found in AS 1269.
For further information, refer to Australian/New Zealand Standards:
AS/NZ 1269 Occupational Noise Management and AS/NZ 1270
Acoustics Hearing Protectors.

Respiratory Protection

Important Safety Information

Do you use chemicals at work?
Respirators are designed to protect the wearer against one or more of the following hazards:

Deficiency of oxygen

Contaminants in particulate form

Contaminants in gaseous form

There are two ways of providing respiratory protection against dusts, fumes and gases.
1. Air Purifying Respirators
These respirators purify the air using filters. The choice of filters
depends on the level of contaminants in the air. Sometimes a
combination of gas and dust filters is necessary. There are two types
of air purifying respirators. One is non-powered and relies on the
wearer to draw in air by inhaling. The other is powered and relies
on a battery-powered motor to draw in the air.
2. Supplied Air Respirator
This method delivers clean air or oxygen from an uncontaminated
source. Types of supplied air respirators include; air hose air
delivered through a hose by natural breathing or a pump; air-line
air delivered through an airline via a compressor or compressed
air cylinders; and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA)
compressed air comes in bottles strapped to the users body.

Knowing what type of respirator you need depends on the nature

of your work. For more information of the correct protection to
use, consult your local BOC specialist or ring the BOC hotline on
0800 723 378.
For additonal information on respiratory protection, refer to
Australian Standards: AS/NZS 1715: 1994 Selection, Use and
Maintenance of Respiratory Protective Devices, AS/NZS 1716:2003
Respiratory Protective Devices, AS 2299 Occupational Driving
Operations, AS 2865 Safe working in confined spaces.

Note: If you are unsure of the extent of the atmospheric hazard,

then respirators should be worn.

BOC accepts no liability for the incorrect choice of personal protective equipment. This information is a guide only. It is the responsibility of
the purchaser to ensure they have sought professional advice in relation to the use of products in a particular environment.

Powered and Supplied Air Systems

Adflo
We've reinvented the powered air-purifying respirator for
welders. Speedglas with Adflo is a light, compact, all-in-one
system. Its exclusive stackable configuration means that the
gas filter can be stacked onto the particle filter for additional
protection from specific organic, inorganic and acidic vapours.
An adaptable system that saves money.
In effect, it is two systems in one, allowing increased user
flexibility to adapt to changing welding applications. And you
can selectively replace either the particle or the gas filter as
needed; you don't need to change both filters at the same time.
Goes into tight spaces.
The Adflo system has no external batteries, no battery cables,
and no sharp corners. Its slim profile is designed to go into
tight spaces. It is the most ergonomically-perfect PAPR available
to welders!

Fresh-air C
For highly-contaminated welding environments or in confined
spaces, you need the Fresh-air C (Compressed Air) system
with a nominal protection factor of 200. The lightweight, beltmounted regulator allows the user to adjust the airflow from
140 to 300 Litres per minute, making Fresh-air C ideal for hot
and strenuous work.

Connects to air hoses

The belt-mounted regulator connects to an approved air hose
with a quick release connector system. The airline supply must
be air of breathable quality, meeting the requirement of
AS/NZS 1716.
Oil mist or water vapour in the airline or non-toxic unpleasant
odours may be removed with a breathing air system.

Respirator standards
The Fresh-air C system conforms to Australian Standard
AS/NZS 1716 for compressed air respirators.

Hand Protection

Important Safety Information

Does your work involve manual handling,
welding, food processing?
Industrial gloves, mittens and gauntlets are selected on the basis
of specific work requirements and hazards. Leather, loop pile and
Kevlar wool gloves protect hands and portions of the arms from
sharp objects, abrasions and heat, whilst synthetic gloves such as
PVC or rubber protect against chemicals, biological agents and
electricity.

5. Chemicals continue to act on the glove whether or not it is being

worn. Temperature can change the length of time you can wear
a glove safely. Heat speeds up chemical reactions. The hotter it is,
the shorter the life of the glove. Do not rinse or otherwise treat
your gloves with other chemicals unless your supervisor tells you
to do so.

The level of protection required varies widely between processes

and industries, so it is essential that you consult the manufacturer
or supplier of the glove before purchasing.

6. If you are unsure about the use of gloves, ask your supervisor.

To find out the dangers of the hazardous materials that you will
be handling, you must first refer to the relevant Material Safety
Data Sheets.

For further information on hand protection, refer to Australian

Standards: AS 2161.1: 2000 Occupational Protective Gloves.
For more information on hand protection contact your local BOC
specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

1. Wear the right glove. They are not all the same. A glove that
offers protection against one chemical may not protect you from
another.
2. Make sure it fits. Gloves must fit the same as shoes. You cannot do
your job well if you are fumbling with gloves that are too big or
your can't move your hands because they are too small.
3. Sometimes you may need to wear one glove over another. Some
chemical-resistant gloves puncture or tear easily. If your work
could cause a rip or puncture you may need to wear a protective
glove over the chemical glove.
4. Check gloves for tears or punctures before you put them on and
while you are working.

BOC accepts no liability for the incorrect choice of personal protective equipment. This information is a guide only. It is the responsibility
of the purchaser to ensure they have sought professional advice in relation to the use of products in a particular environment.

Important Safety Information

Do you need to be seen?

Industrial Clothing

Where your personal safety is an issue and you need to be seen it is

imperative that you wear high visibility clothing.

Industrial clothing is designed to protect you against chemical

hazards, heat and fire, electric shocks, cold conditions and ionising
radiation.

High Visibility Reflective Day/Night Vests

BOCproduces a range of high visibility vests which comply with
the Australian/New Zealand standard for High Visibility Safety
Garments, AS/NZS4602:1999, AS/NZS1906.4:1997

The basic requirements for industrial clothing are:

Workers trousers

Workers shorts

Day or night, BOC vests will provide the visibility required to

prevent workplace accidents.

Bib and brace overalls

Full length and/or sleeveless coveralls

Daytime Use Vests

Dust coats (laboratory coats)

Daytime vests provide enhanced light reflectivity for daytime

applications. The long lasting fabric is designed to be both highly
fluorescent and fade resistant.

Work shirts

Industrial jackets

Day and Night Vests

Day and night vests are made for use in daytime and night
conditions. With the same fluorescent fabric used in the Day vests,
BOC Night and Day vests also incorporate 50mm retro-reflective
tape for evening applications. The tape is both flexible for comfort
and fully waterproof ensuring all light is reflected, no matter what
the conditions.

Generally these clothes should be close fitting around the wrist and
trouser leg and be made of a durable material. For outdoor workers,
long trousers and shirts can be used for protection against the sun
along with a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen.
Other industries, such as welding, timber yards, food industry,
require additional protective clothing that includes protective
aprons, spats, hoods, leather jackets, leggings, aramid sleeves etc.

Always ask for high visibility garments that are compliant

tostandards.

For more information refer to Australian/New Zealand Standards:

AS/NZS 1906.4:1997
AS/NZS 4602:1999 High Visibility Safety Garments, AS 2919 1987 Industrial Clothing,
AS/NZS 3765 Clothing for Protection Against Hazardous Chemicals, AS/NZS 2755 Textile Fabrics Burning Behaviour.
Of course, choosing the right protective clothing depends on the type of environment you work in.
For an assessment contact your local BOC specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

The information above is provided as a general outline and is not intended to be a definitive statement on the subject matter. Professional
advice should be sought before any action is taken in relation to the matters described above.

Protective Footwear

Important Safety Information for Footwear

What are the chances of slipping, or hurting/banging
your feet at work?
Generally, you should choose to wear protective footwear
to avoid the following types of injuries to feet:
Contact with falling, rolling or cutting objects

Other features to look for when choosing footwear:

Fuel-resistant outsoles (recommended if the wearer has contact
with organic solvents).

Penetration-resistant midsoles to avoid foot injuries

(i.e. steel plate midsole insert)

Penetration through soles or uppers

Electricity conductive properties to minimise electrostatic build-up.

Degloving (epidermis pulled away from the feet)

Anti-static properties.

Antistatic and electrical hazards

Contact with chemicals, heat and molten metals

Slipping

All safety footwear in this catalogue is type 1, meaning heavy-duty

footwear. Exception to this are gumboots which are classified as
type 4 waterproof, and some ladies models.

Footwear protection in use in New Zealand workplaces should

meet the performance requirements of Australian/New Zealand
Standards AS/NZS 2210.3 Occupational protective footwear. Of
course, choosing the right foot protection depends on the type of
environment you work in. For an assessment contact your local
BOC specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

It is important to choose the correct safety footwear for the

work area. The following table will assist you in choosing the
correct soletype.

Safety Equipment

Industrial Workshop
Ventilation
Important Safety Information
for Fume Extraction and Ventitlation
Are dust and fumes present in your workplace?

When should respiratory equipment be worn?

Does any part of the processes at your site create a dust hazard to
personnel or the environment (e.g. manufacturing, sawing, grinding,
loading of tanks or vessels, filling of bags or containers etc)?

If the work to be done in the confined space is likely to

degrade the atmosphere further (e.g. welding, painting,
cleaning, sand blasting) then a combination of respiratory
equipment and ventilation should be used.

Is there risk of fume hazard to personnel or the environment

(e.g. welding, soldering, paint, solvents, cleaning, decanting,
CNC machinery, vehicle exhaust etc)?
Does any process or maintenance procedure require personnel
to enter a confined space (e.g. storage tanks, pits, process vessels,
containers, road tankers etc)?
Confined space entry accounts for more multiple fatalities than
any other type of industrial accident. The most common cause
of death is respiratory failure due to an unsafe atmosphere.
Working in a confined space exposes employees to
increased risk from hazards such as contaminated air or
oxygen deficiency. Before entering a confined space, steps
need to be taken to ensure the air quality is acceptable.

Also, if testing indicates the atmosphere is not safe for

entry, and no further control measures can be implemented,
then suitable respiratory equipment must be worn with
ventilation as a further precaution. For more information,
refer to AS 2865: 2001 Safe Working in Confined Spaces.
Of course, choosing the right fume extraction and detection
equipment depends on the type of environment you
work in. For more information, contact your local BOC
specialist or ring the BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

Where a risk assessment indicates it is necessary, employers

must ensure that employee exposure to hazardous substances is
either prevented or adequately controlled to minimise risks to
health Hazardous Substances Regulations, Worksafe Australia.
Ventilation is used to control the atmospheric hazards within
confined spaces by replacing or purging the unsafe air with clean,
breathable air.
While in some situations this can be done by natural means
(i.e. relying on air currents or the wind) it is normally considered
prudent to ventilate by mechanical means with purpose built
blowers and extractors.

BOC accepts no liability for the incorrect choice of personal protective equipment. This information is a guide only. It is the responsibility
ofthe purchaser to ensure they have sought professional advice in relation to the use of products in a particular environment.

Extractors and Confined Space Ventilation

Pollution Extractors

System Extractors

Non-filtered pollution extractors are also available. The all-enclosed

box shape design protects the motor from damage and increases
safety for the operator. Safety guards are fitted and wheels and
handle are included. The PX3 is typically used with a 5m long
Magnetic Hose Kit. The larger PX4 develops higher flows and
pressure and is suitable for much longer lengths of hose.

These are used in large installations with multiple outlets.

The range of versatile Extractors is designed specifically for high
pollutant loads. The first choice for any multi-inlet system. Each
extractor incorporates a range of unique, practical features.
Self-cleaning, backward-inclined impellers prevent pollutant buildup. High-pressure rotors allow small diameter ducting to be used,
with correspondingly lower costs and better pollutant transport
velocities. Small systems with three or four Flexi Arms are easily
designed using the Ozone Duct Kit. The Duct Kit can be connected
to either a Roof or Ducted System Extractor.

Fixed extractors are available for wall-mounted Flexi Arms. The

extractors unique design bolts directly to the mounting surface.

Important Safety Information
About First Aid

About Safety Signs

1. Why should I have a First Aid Kit?

Understanding AS/NZ 1319:1994 Safety

Signs for the Occupational Environment.

A first aid kit is necessary to assist in the saving of lives and to

prevent pain and suffering to workers in the workplace.
2. What if I choose not to have one but
keep a few items in a drawer?
Currently there is legislation in Australia and New Zealand that
places of work must have a First Aid Kit. There are fines for
companies who ignore these laws.
3. What sort of First Aid Kit do I need?
The best way to select a Kit or First Aid requirements according
to number of people.
4. How many First Aid Kits should I have
and where should they be placed?
In a workplace a First Aid Kit should be placed in a convenient
accessible position not further than 100 metres from all workers.
In a multi-storey building a kit should be located every second floor,
ideally near running water.
5. What if I have a large number of employees?
Is one First Aid Kit enough?
On a construction site where there are more than 100 employees
or other place of work where there are more than 200 employees
a medical room is a requirement. For more information refer to
AS2675:1983.

Australian/New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 1319:1994 sets forth

design and use standards for safety signs used in the occupational
environment. Safety signs are classified by function into groups.
Use these guidelines to determine which sign classification best
suits your applications:
Regulatory Signs contain instructions with which
failure to comply constitutes an offense under law, standing
orders, company policy, etc. Mandatory and Prohibition
Signs are the most commonly used regulatory signs.
Hazard Signs warn of hazards or hazardous conditions.
Warning and Danger signs warn of hazards according to
the severity of the threat. Warning signs alert the reader
to hazards that are not life-threatening, whilst Danger signs
warn of life-threatening hazards or hazardous conditions.
Fire Signs advise the location of fire alarms and
fire fighting equipment, e.g. fire extinguishers.
Emergency Information Signs indicate the
location or direction of emergency related facilities
such as emergency showers or basins.
Of course, choosing the right products for a safer workplace
depends on the type of environment you work in.
For an assessment contact your local BOC specialist or ring the
BOC hotline on 0800 723 378.

Bottlechock Cylinder Restraints

G2M

Safe, Quick and Easy

Bottlechock

Handling and storing cylinders can be difficult,

due to their awkward shape, size and weight.
They can be a threat to workers and their
workplace if not secured correctly. Current
legislation stipulates that cylinders must
be properly secured in transit and while
stationary.
Bottlechocks are specifically designed
and built to easily secure cylinders in
the workplace and while they are being
transported. Their design even provides
some security if the straps are accidentally
left unfastened.

Bottlechocks positively grip the cylinder.

Their unique design is in full contact with
the cylinders surface. This system holds the
cylinder firmly, in position and secure, unlike
others where the cylinder must remain
loose to allow unfastening. Bottlechocks
protect the cylinder, reduce damage to
valuable gauges, prevent movement, and
provide a safe, secure environment. The
quick release fastener allows cylinders to be
removed or secured quickly and easily.
No lifting is required, which reduces
possible back injury.

Easy to Install Kits

Kits to fit 1, 2, 3 or 4 medium cylinders

of 160mm to 230mm diameter

Each kit comes complete with Bottlechocks,

brackets and pins to secure each individual
cylinder in two places. Brackets are separate
to allow fixing at vertical heights to suit you.
Kits for multiple cylinders have extended
brackets to suit 2, 3 or 4 cylinders.

(e.g. Aluminium or steel D-E size and G steel)

Kits to fit 1, 2, 3 or 4 small cylinders

Welding Blankets
Application Heat and Retention and Insulation
A welding blanket is designed to encapsulate a metal object
that has been subjected to heat treatment either through stress
relieving or welding. The blanket retards the cooling rates

contributing towards the non hardening and possible subsequent

embrittlement in the Heat Effected Zone (HEZ). Elliotts offer
blankets manufactured from two fabrics, HeatShield and T1000.
All these welding blankets are NON ASBESTOS.

Heatshield
HeatShield is manufactured from E glass fibre which is a noncombustible, flexible, inorganic material that has been specifically
designed to provide retention of heat. HeatShield has a service
temperature of 500C with 100% duty cycle providing a wide scope,
fulfilling most applications.

How Does It Work?

ArcSafe welding screens are available in

two colours red and green.
Protect this most precious gift from the
painful and harmful effects of welding flash
with Elliott ArcSafe welding screens.

Benefits of ArcSafe
ArcSafe welding screens absorb the
dangerous ultra violet light that is emitted
from the arc welding process and also offers
these added benefits.

Surrounding your welding situations

with safety
Protecting your co-workers and other
people from the painful effects of
accidental welding flash

The luminance transmittance is the ratio

of the luminance of a source of light when
viewed through a curtain or screen to the
luminance of that source when viewed
directly.
ArcSafe Red and Green

The ArcSafe welding screen is

manufactured from vinyl film, processed
with a colour dye, a flame retardant and an
ultra violet absorber. The dye consumes and
filters the blue light brightness associated
with the electric arc welding process. The
material surface acts as a reflector, causing
the arc to appear larger and less bright, thus
reducing glare to the eyes. The light is also
scattered in different directions, creating
a fluorescent light, this causes the pupil to
constrict and shut out excess glare, thus
reducing light to the retina.

Welding Screens
Application Protection from Spatter and Dross
A welding drape is designed to be placed over or cover an
object that cannnot be moved and is positioned in such a way
that welding spatter and dross could cause damage.
The positioning of a drape is of utmost importance. It should be
arranged loosely over the object to enhance the run off of

welding spatter and dross. A welding drape can also be used

as a curtain where a more robust material is required.
Elliotts offer drapes made from three types of fabrics
Neoweld, SilicaGlass and leather.

Neoweld

SilicaGlass

Leather

Neoweld is Elliotts most popular fabric

used in welding drapes. Neoweld is an
E Glass fabric coated in flame retarded
neoprene which provides a slick surface
to enable the weld spatter and dross to
cascade away.

A SilicaGlass drape can be confidently used

for protection of sensitive areas. A premium
product with a Silica content of 96%,
producing a crystaline crust when exposed
to a neutral oxy acetylene flame as used in
the auto repair industry.

A Leather drape manufactured from

selected chrome split leather is Elliotts
economical robust, all purpose drape.
