Castles

During wartimes they acted as strong holds and the heart of its nations defence.
When in peace, they were simply destroyed as unwanted relics or they were
homes to the warlords as an administration and military base along with a bonus
symbol off authority. These stunning structures are called castles. Whether they
are European, Japanese or any other countries, one could simply not agree that
they were magnificent and an extremely complex engineering process that is
admired even today when tanks and jets exist. However, some countrys castles
are better than other countries castles, whether it is significantly or just by a bit.
Here, I will be explaining the difference between European and Japanese castles
and which is better than the other. (122 words)
Most importantly of all, a castle isnt a castle if it isnt defensive, and the
materials used are certainly one of the most important factors in deciding the
impregnability of the castle. While
European castles are almost completely
made from stone, Japanese castles have
an elevated stone base but they were
mainly made out of wood. Wood is strong
when used in abundance, while stone
simply
shatters out wards, when hit with
considerable force such as a battering
ram. Even though stone can be easily
damaged by siege machines, stone shatters outwards, this may cause closely
standing enemies to take collateral damage that will easily put five or so
opponents out of battle. While wood does not shatter or break easily when used
in abundance, it does not cause collateral damage that is enough to put an
enemy out of battle. Stone still can last a long time against siege machines,
while dealing collateral damage, while wood is purely to last longer. Therefore,
European castles have the better construction material. (169 words)
The shape of a castle is very significant. They can make a miners job harder,
give archers a wider field of view and a shape that may thwart the enemys
plans. An European castle is largely a circular shape, while a Japanese castle is
largely rectangular. Circular castles have larger bases and no corners, so the
pressure is better spread around than rectangular castles. This makes miners
job a lot harder, as they have to dig a lot more in order to dislocate a castles
foundations. A circular base also gives an archer a wider FOV as their FOV is now
wider than the 180 degree view that a typical rectangular base can offer. These
two important factors could very well thwart the enemys plans. (125 words)
Ramparts and towers of a tower provide most of the firepower dealt to the
enemy, and so an effective rampart is greatly needed. European ramparts and
towers do not have a roof, while the Japanese ramparts and turrets do. While an
open rampart an have more projectiles shooting out of it at a time along with a
few siege machines stored on the ramparts, an enclosed rampart provides
protection from certain projectiles, such as the arrow that may come hails and

devastate a whole army. Limited firepower can come from cut out windows and
slits. As it is important to keep an army alive in order for them to deal more
damage, Japanese styled enclosed rampart are more effective than the exposed
European ramparts, due to a potential hail of projectiles. (131 words)
Even though European castles have a better base and a better construction
material along with better firepower, the advantage of not having you army
taken out by a single hail of arrows is huge. For this reason, both castles are
almost evenly matched, however European castles have much more advantages
than Japanese castles as a stronghold. Magnificent as they are, Japanese castles
are no match for extremely high firepower, stronger walls and wider FOV for
archers along with a higher immunity to miners, European castles turn out to be
the better castle. So next time when time is reversed back, be sure to invest into
European type castles than Japanese types (that I if you are a warlord/ general)

PART B:
Key:#sjhhjahdfjk#= point of weakness.

The fortified city of Carcassonne in France would be a better target, o king, as I

have an excellent way to capture this castle and have it to ours.
For this mission, I will need

4500 infantry troops,

500 cavalry
2000 archers,
500 extremely skilled fighters with a few expert lock pickers and
extremely strong men
Five siege towers, two mangonels, a battering ram, a hundred ladders
and a hundred carts worth of food.
100 wet animal hides along with 400 bearers,
#As our target is a fortified city, sending men into the city disguised as
medium classed French men (but give them lots of money so the officials would
let the live in the city)would be possible.# Slowly let the five hundred skilled
fighters along with a general, lets say five every two days, with smuggled

weapons and extremely light, barely visible armour. Do not gather the army yet,
or else the enemy would be alerted of our aim. After all have gone into the
fortified city, gather the army and send out a thousand men towards any odd hill
fit for an ambush nearby the fortified city, in our lands. Make sure their actions
are subtle and their movement is not known. Now gather the entire army with a
moderate amount of food and pretend to besiege them. Before the city runs out
of food, pretend to run out of food yourself and retreat the main army back close
to where the thousand men has planted an ambush. Release a hundred carts of
food and let them hover within 30 miles of the enemys castle before driving
them slowly towards your base. #As the enemy must be hungry as you have
besieged them and they have an entire city to feed#, they will most certainly
dispatch an army for the food. As the enemys forces near the food, the
deliverers for the food pretend to panic and drive the cart straight into the
previously planted ambush. At this
instant, diverge a force of two thousand
and leave them where they are now (at
the front of the castle). Now drive your
army towards the back of city with all
siege engines, since they are not
expecting you to attack from the castle
gate, since it is very heavily defended
and designed to be a slaughter house. At
this moment, fly a pigeon into the castle
telling your general inside when the attack is going to happen, make sure its day
time so very little of the army would be inside the walls, but on it. Drive the
diverged 2000 army extremely close to the castle but make sure they are out of
sight. The back of the fortified city will be attacked, but first only with mangonels
and all archers (all 2000) under the animal hides. This is only done to reduce the
opponent's numbers on the wall so they would seek reinforcements from the
other battlements. After a long while, attack them with the full for of the main
army; however this is only a diversion. The skilled fighters inside the castle will
now guide the lock pickers to the front of the castle, unlocking all three layers of
gates. The strong men will push open the doors. The 500 fighter must try to stay
under walls. This way, defenders cannot shoot at them and they have to hold of
any enemies coming from inside the castle# (there will not be many as most of
the defenders are on the far side of the CITY)#. As cavalry arrive from the
hidden army, the main army has to continue assault on the back wall, while the
cavalry and the skilled warriors try to take down the main keep. 1500 infantry
would also arrive shortly later via the open gate. This way, if the opponent
decides to go to the keep, the main army would easily demolish the citys
remaining defenders on the city wall and they will have to face the whole army
at the keep with many archers picking them off many at a time. If they decide to
defend the wall, they would soon find that they will have to be defending from
both sides and cohesion will be lost as the main control centre is destroyed.
I believe this strategy has a very high chance of capturing the city, as this
strategy splits the enemys force and effectively draws the enemys army to the

opposite side of the city. The gate is also easily opened and effectively splits the
enemy forces up again. Their wall thickness and structure along with enemy
number does not matter a lot in this attack as most of the attack does not come
from force, but from effective divergment of the enemy army. If the enemy does
not go for the food, it does not matter either as they would be drawn to the
divergent and not be able to return due to the citys massive scale. This attack is
carefully planned and effective plays on the generals mind and common sense
to send his forces to where forces are needed. Only an extremely smart general
could see through the trap and such generals are hard to come by. I predict that
this attack has a 99.95% chance of succeeding.
Weaknesses of our target that we are taking advantage of1. It is a city so entering the city disguised as Frenchmen is an available
option.
2. It has a whole city it needs to feed along with a large army, so food is a
must for them
3. A city is quite large and traveling from one end to another would take an
extremely long time.
4. The ramparts do not have roofs so it is possible for them to be sniped by
archers
