Mi Filosofa
Filipino

MY FILIPINO PHILOSOPHY, MY STAND

The quest for Filipino philosophy is not just a matter of nationalism and pride. In my
opinion, I think one of the most important values of finding a Filipino philosophy/ies is
that we are also looking for the psychology of the Filipinos. We are researching for our
soul. How we think? What do we think? What do we think about? Second, the
exploration is needed because we cannot institute a true Filipino philosophical discourses
and even philosophical dialogs with other philosophies if we do not have our own to
work from. Third is apprehensibility, a Filipino philosophy will naturally be graspable
and explorable by the Filipinos.

PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE AND HOW IT WILL AFFECT IN THE FUTURE

PHILOSOPHY may be defined as the study and pursuit of facts which deal with the
ultimate reality or causes of things as they affect life.
A true philosophy in humanistic or psychological context either Filipino or otherwise
is not by pride, patriotism, nationalism, but how life makes you a better person within
a society either in individual or collective, introversion or extroversion. It is
impermanent, forever changing. Filipinos cannot really have an authentic philosophies
because we are not pure by race, we are a part of other culture since we were colonized
and influenced by our past heritage, however in some degree, we have good values and
morals, and sense of governance individually and as a nation. We are a melting pot.
Sadly, we have to face reality, the positive side of whatever good version of Filipino
philosophy we have, in our modern time, it is in, in my opinion, being diminished and
tainted.
By epistemology, we do not really have a founder of Filipino philosophy like Socrates.
My Educational Aims, Curriculum, Teaching Methods are not indifferent with other
writers, philosophers, idealists

Educational
Aims
To promote
democratic ideals and
way of life.
Formation of good
citizens, including
the rights and
responsibilities of
people.

Curriculum
Schools should train
students in three degrees
in life:
- Morality
- Intellect
- Physical
Citizens should be
equipped with altruism
and citizenship to be
efficient in life in
service to God, self,
and country.

Methods of Teaching
Law of the Teacher
- As a teacher, you are a learner seek knowledge
- You cannot teach what you dont possess.
Law of Education
-

The way people learn determines how you teach.

As an effective teacher, you must not only know that

which you would teachthat is, your contentbut you
must also know those whom you wish to teach.

Law of Activity
-

Your task is not to impress people but to impact them; not

just to convince them, but to change them.

Find meaningful activities.

Maximum learning yields maximum involvement

Law of Communication
-

For us to better communicate, we must have commonness.

The greater commonality we have with our students gives
us greater potential for communication.

Law of the Heart

-

Teaching that impacts is not head to head, but heart to

heart.

In biblical sense, heart embraced the totality of human

personalityones intellect, ones emotions, ones will. So
the process of teaching is that of one total personality
transformed by the supernatural grace of God, reaching
out to transform other personalities by the same grace.
What a privilege!

Law of Encouragement
-

One of the problems in education today is failure of

motivate learners.
MQ is more important than ones IQ
Motivation Quotient vs. Intellectual Quotient

Find that enthusiasm and radiate so students see it.

Law of Readiness
Teaching-learning process will be most effective when both
student and teacher are adequately prepared.
Make time, give time, motivate, be creative.
