Last Wednesday the Education Assistants attended a workshop on Autism. This has proved to be
extremely valuable professional learning which is aimed at ensuring all staff across the school have
the skills and knowledge to work effectively with all children.
As many of you would have been aware our school was selected by the Director General for an
Expert Review Study. This is one of the ways the department recognises exemplary school practice.
The Study was conducted Week 9 Term 2 over five days. A report has been written and submitted
to the Director General, Ms Sharyn ONeill, and the Minister for Education, Hon. Mr Peter Collier,
outlining the Expert Review Groups findings. On the 2 September, 9.30 in the school hall, the
Director General will visit Mount Lockyer Primary School to present a certificate, recognising Mount
Lockyer Primary Schools performance being of a consistently high standard. All are welcome to
attend. The final report will be available to the public on Schools online.
As I walked around the school, on my first day back, I was thrilled to see the excellent work students
have been producing. For example the wonderful Post Office the year 1 students have set up on the
veranda outside their classrooms. The standard of your childrens work is very high and I would urge
all families to take the time to walk around the verandas and visit classes, you too will be amazed
and very proud.
Ex-students from Mount Lockyer, Jaxon McLean, Mitchell Meade, Uluka Luscombe Jessica Stals,
Carla Rey and James Westle have had a fantastic start to high school. Their achievements in
Semester One places them in the top ten students at NASHS in their year group. Congratulations to
all of them on a mighty achievement that has shown maturity and extreme dedication to their
learning.
This Thursday the School choir will provide the entertainment at the assembly, look forward to
seeing many of you there.
