LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Definition of Film
The film is a potrait of a story of life described by an object which played in theaters
or television. The film also be called as a copyright work of art and culture that is one of the
mass media communication that was created based on the principle of audio and visual
cinematograph who recorded on tape of celluloid, video tape, record video or the other
technology.
The film also regarded as a medium of communication that applicable to the mass that
became the targets because, it is visual audio namely images and the voice that of the living.
With images and sound, film able to tell the story much in a short time. When watching a
movie the audience as if can penerate time and space that can be naratting the lives and even
can affect the audience.
Basically film can were brought into two basic division namely film category stories
and non stories. Opinion of another categorised into a film fictional and non fiction. The film
story is a movie that produced based on the story and played by actor and actress. Generally e
story is commercial, it means and exhibited in a movie theater with the price of certain. Film
non story is a film that takes the fact as the subject, namely record the fact from fiction about
on reality.
Film story in to keep popular audience should alert to the developments of the times,
it means the story have to be better. A maker of the story must applying a technique that
advanced so that the spectator not feel at lied to by tricks of certain tricks. In making a film
story, process required is process of thought and the process of technical and in the form of
the search any ideas a notion or the story that is being worked on, while the process in the
form of technical skill artistic to embody all this idea a notion or the story into a movie that is
ready to be seen.

2.2 Genre film

A genre of movie is the type of film or in the style of a film. Fil can be fiction or real,
or a mixture of both. Althought hundreds of movies made every year, there are some who
dont follow scenario.
Accroding to macmillan dictionary some here is a genre film:

1. Thriller is film with stories that often involving the crime

2. Horror is a movie that tries to make the audience very afraid
3. Comedy is a movie that tries to make an audience laugh
4. Romantic is a kind of movie that talks of romance
5. Drama is any serious film
6. Sci-fi film is the set in the future and related scientific progress imaginary

2.3 Positive Effect of The Movie For Student

1. The movie as a medium of exchange culture
Be it culture of society around us or culture outside a completely foreign to us. The
movie also is seen as the media socialization and publications culture that powerful and
persuasive. Remember the movie it is reflecting culture, in the community at the time or
the days of certain.
2. A movie as a means of public entertainment
One of the indisputable advantages of the film is, the ability to present the film in the
video and audio that can certainly be enjoyed by the entire community through
television. Currently the community is dependent on the medium of television. Where all
the entertainment is easy in the can and in the access to television. And the film remains
a major part of the products displayed or offered in television.
3. Increasing knowledge and insight
We can add insight or knowledge of the existence of the fim that tells the history, we will
know how life the past.

We can take inspiration from films that have qualities or meaningful
2.4 Negative Effect of The Movie For Student
Althought the movie have a positive effect, the movie also have negative effect, such
as:
1. Increasing the child aggressiveness
Cartoon spectacle beyond the many displays of violence, chatter rude, condescending
view of others and indecent very influential on the aggressiveness of the child.
2. Sex content

Sexual content (whether it porn or porn action) on the film very negative impact (on
behavior and mental) community. Especially in children and adolescents have that
curiosity is very high.
3. Requires special time
In addition to excess in displaying video and audio, this is also be a deficiency factor and
negative impact. Needed special time to watch a movies. And this is also a negative
impact on children, with many cartoon shows on television today, so children have the
less time to learn and play with his friends.
4. The loss of local cultural values
Today many outdoor movies consumed by the public of indonesia. And change the
mindset of society that culture beyond what they see/ consumption (that the same once
strange or were wrong) is considered good and enviable.
