-o0oNARRATIVE REPORT FOR THE ORIENTATION OF K TO 12 MATERIALS
UTILIZATION AND ASSESMENT
(July 3-4, 2015)
Assessment is an important tool in teaching and learning process.
This phase of education endeavor helps the teachers to gauge his/her
method, strategies, techniques used if it really cause learning. Thus, San
Roque Central Elementary School conducted the two-day orientation of K to
Materials and Assessment.
Dr. Esther O. Dela Cruz, the principal of San Roque Central
Elementary School leads the orientation last July 3 to 4, 2015.
The program started with a prayer and National Anthem through
power point presentation.
Then, it was followed by welcome remarks by
Mr. Eladio R. Fuentes, the SRCES Teachers Association President.
The
presentation of participants was done by Mrs. Solly T. Lutao, Grade One
Chair. The opening program ended by the message and statement of
purpose by the principal, Dr. Esther O. Dela Cruz.
After the opening program, orientation proper follows. At 9:00 am to
12:00 pm, the participants viewed the canned presentation on Teachers
Guide, Curriculum Guides, and Learners Materials utilization for Grade 1
to 4. In the afternoon, at 1:00 to 3:00 pm, the Principal discussed the K to
12 Materials Color-Coding and Daily Lesson Plan Implementation. This topic
was followed by clearing house, wherein various problems were aired by the
teachers. One of the problems came out was the standards in making lesson
plans for Kindergarten. The principal took notice of the problem, she said
that she will brought the matter to the higher authorities. Other problems
like the lack of Teachers Guide and Learners Materials were resolved by
the Principal by instructing the teachers to reproduce copies anyway it will
be paid through MOOE fund.
The second day of orientation stated with the Management of
Learning with the Grade Three Teachers as the facilitators. Mrs. Evelyn
Ducay, Grade Three Grade Chairman gave the recapitulation of first day
topic.

After the short opening program on the second day, the Teacherparticipants viewed again another canned presentation on Classroom
Assessment of K to 12 Basic Education Program. After the presentation
questions about the new assessment were answered by the Principal. Some
Mathematics teachers volunteered to show the computation using the new
assessment on K to 12.
The two-day orientation were ended with closing program which was
facilitated by the Grade Two teachers.
Teachers received their certificate
of participation during the closing program. By the impressions heard from
the participants, the orientation seems to meet its target. Teachers were
grateful because such activity was done. Doubts, questions, and
misconceptions were erased and new ideas, hope, and inspirations sink in.
Teachers were now ready face the challenges of the school year 2015-2016.
