This is the transcript from the interview held by Angela Treat Lyon
with Special Guest, Mellen-Thomas Benedict.
Mellen had a terminal case of brain cancer, died for an hour and a half,
went to the Light, and came back. Now he goes to the light many
times a day for more information and learning. The cancer is gone.
Angela: Welcome! This is Angela Treat Lyon with

EFTBooks.com and IDareYouRadio.comwelcome and thank
you for coming. And welcome Mellen, I am so glad you are here.
Im so honored to have you as my guest today.
Mellen: Yeah, its great.

Angela: I am really excited about this. You have got so much
information to give us and Ive been bubbling over since we
talked this morning.
So, a little intro: Mellen-Thomas Benedict is just an amazing

person, and as you know from my myriad of emails to you, he
died for and hour and a half and went to the light and came
back.
Hes got a big background in being a big doubter about life.

He was thinking that humanity was a cancer on the face of the
earth. And he believes that the cancer he developed was part of
that. Hell talk about that later. I am just fascinated by his whole
story, and I know that you will be, too. And that youll just gain

so much inspiration and lots of hope about life and the things
that you aspire to. So again, I welcome you so much Mellen.
Thank you so much for being with us today.
Mellen: Its a pleasure.

Angela: I am just so delighted. Do you want to go into some
of your background or do you want to go right into the story,
what do you want to do?
Mellen: Well maybe a little of both. Really, before I had my

near-death experience, I was not a spiritual seeker, I was not
interested in religion or spirituality. I had never heard the word
near-death before.
Id also never heard the word hospice before in my life, and I
really had no interest in the subject. Now that may be because
early on, the first five years or so of my life, my parents put me
into a Catholic boarding school, andforgive me for saying
thisbut that is not a great start on spirituality.
We were constantly told we were going to hell! I couldnt figure
out why we were going to hell forever, but it may be the reason
why later on I got into deeper subjects like eternity, what is life
and death, and that kind of thing.
So when I got out of Catholic boarding school finally, I started
travelling with my step-father, who my Mother had married when
I was eleven. We were a military family then and I lived around
the world in Japan and other places, and I never thought about
spirituality again. It never crossed my mind again.

I just wasnt interested. I wasnt an atheist or and agnostic

or anything like thatat least they show some interest in the
subjectand so when my time came to this critical phase, I had
no spiritual background really to fall back on. I didnt believe in
God, or that there was a God, or that there could be one. It was
just not part of my thinking or belief system.
What I was interested in, though, was the ecology, and I was
always interested in the drama of mankind.
I was raised during the height of the cold war, and people were
building bomb shelters in their backyards and all those kind of
fun things were going on. At school we were being shown films
about what was going to happen when the nuclear bomb was
dropped on us and that probably only cockroaches would be
the survivors.
This is what they told us children, and some people, other
baby-boomers like myself, may remember those fun days. All
the best minds of our time came up with a policy which was
called Mutual Assured Destruction Plan. This was the great
plan they came up with in case we were attackedwhich was
to annihilate the rest of the world.
Angela: Mutual, huhlike everybody agreed.

Mellen: Yeah, and if this is what the best minds on earth can
come up with then were in a lot of trouble. Those were very
dicey times.
I was very much into ecology. I thought mankind was seriously hurting the planet, and I believed all the experts at the
timeeven back then in the sixties they were saying that even

if we stopped all human activity then, there was no chance for

the earth to recoverand that really hurt my heart. Because I
watched the films and I saw all the documentaries on TV and
I read books on ecology, and I thought that this is whats really
going to get us. Thensome people say it was the straw that
broke the camels back, but for me it was a single photograph
I was reminded of this in my life review that I had [during my
NDE].
There was a photo I saw by an ecology group (I think it was a
well-meaning group) at the timethese photos are still floating
around out there in different publicationsI saw this photo of an
arial photograph of the city of Los Angeles, California.
Right next to it they had put a micro-photograph of a human
cancer cell, and they were so similar it knocked me out. It was
at that moment that I began to think that nature had gone wrong
and created a living cancer on planet earth called humanity. I
realise now that that began my spiral downward into developing
brain cancer, in 1981.
Angela: Interesting that it was brain cancer and not colon

cancer or heart cancer or something else, it was brain cancer
right there where you think, right?
Mellen: Yeah. And I tell people to be really careful what you

think about everything. Harbouring these thoughts didnt do
me any good at all.
I was thinking all the time that humanity was going to
probably take out the entire planet before I would die and
in my lifetime.

And that thinking was predominant in my mind. It was always

there. It was like the background music of my mind. Why
start a family, why have a career, why do anything, really. And
it was that thinking over a long period of time that, for me,
developed into incurable and inoperable brain cancer.
Angela: Incurable, inoperable?

Mellen: At the time, yes. I remember having, over about a
years period, a series of these strange headaches, and a few
blackout episodeswhich really gets your attentionand I
ended up going to a string of doctors.
First they started telling me that I might have an abscessed
tooth, so I started out, actually, visiting a dentist. I was passed
along until, finally, I ended up in a neurologists office, the best
neuro-surgeon in the area.
I remember sitting in his office, andlife is quite ironic
because for fifteen years or more of my life, I was a professional
stained glass artist doing architectural work and commissioned
pieces, and I taught stained glass lessons. Life really is so
ironic. I sat in this mans office and I looked up at his window
and there was a piece of stained glass. I realised that this
man, years before, had taken a stained glass class with me.
Angela : Oh, for Gods sake!

Mellen: Then I remembered who he was, and I remember,
that I would watch him in class. He was chain smoker and his
hand shook a lot and he seemed not to have a lot of focus.

And I remember saying to somebody at the time, I hope that

this man is never my brain surgeon!
Angela : (laughing) Oh no!

Mellen: And look whose office I was sitting in! And I thought
Oh my god, oh boy, I tell ya!
I went through some more testing, and then I was called in
for the diagnosis. I remember when he walked in to the exam
roomI was a wise-cracker at the time
I said,
Hey, Doc, am I going to live?
Just the look on his faceIve
never seen a look like that before.
It really caught my breath.
Then he began to explain that the scans showed that I had a
form of brain cancer that was inoperable and incurable.
About that time, I just felt like I was having an out-of-body
experience. I couldnt even pay attention to what he was saying.
Brain cancer, inoperable, incurable and all that hitting me. If
anybody listening, or knows anybody who has gone through
that experience, they would know it was quite an awesome
revelation and shock. I cant even explain the feeling you go
through.

He immediately suggested that I go into aggressive

chemotherapy and radiation. And that surgery would probably
not do any good, but they could probably slow it down a bit.
I kept asking how much time this was going to give me and
he said, no guarantees.
It was shortly thereafter that he had me talk to the chemo
radiation guy and specialist. I think he was from India or
someplace like that, and he was telling me that this is going
to be an aggressive treatment.
Then he said, you know this is all optional. I asked, what
do you mean?
And he said, well, and he closed the door when he said
this, he closed the door, and he said, Listen, with the kind
of cancer you have, if we do this aggressive chemo and
radiation you, you will be a vegetable before you die.
Then I asked how much time is this going to give me before
Im a vegetable, and he said, there are no guarantees.
There is no telling. And I asked, What should I do?
The doctor said, I would just go

home and make my peace.
So, that dayI dont even remember how I got home. I just
suddenly found myself parked in my backyard and just dealing
with the whole thing.
I was also someone who, when the doctor said go home to

your family and make peace with the world, I thought, this
guy doesnt have a clue, because he doesnt know what my
lifes been like.
Im someone who was raised in a military family. I was
raised to serve my country, and my father was a green
beret, highly decorated in Vietnam and the whole thing.
When I got out of high school, it was at the peak of the
waryou were given your 1A draft with your diploma. So
I was drafted immediately upon graduation. My father was
actually serving in Vietnam at the time.
I wasnt in favour of the war at all. I wasnt in favour of the

policy, I wasnt in favour of anything that we were doing
over there. But my father was a good soldier and always did
what he was ordered to do. So when I got the draft, I had
the funniest thoughts.
I kept thinking, I am going to be ordered to go kill people,

that I dont want to kill, and that really bothered me.
My thought was, this may be

the only time in my entire life that
I have to face who I really am.
I decided to resist the war. I decided not to leave my country.
I wasnt going to leave my country because I believe the
country need all kinds of patriots, including those who wont
go and kill for silly policies.

At that time, they were threatening either two years in the

military or two years in prison, and that seemed to be the
only options. So I announced to my family that I was going
to resist the war and I wasnt going to be drafted.
And everybody turned on me. My Mother, my brother, my

fatherI was immediately disowned. I pretty much found
myself on the streets. So I didnt talk to my parents for
many, many, many years after that. I didnt like them. I didnt
let them know if I was alive or dead.
Angela: So I take it you didnt go to jail?

Mellen: No. I had never heard the word pacifist before,
conscious objector, all those were new words to me. I just
kept telling them I dont believe in this, I will never kill
people on orders. If I ever kill anybody, ever in my life, that
will be between me and my conscious.
Oddly enough, I got a letter weeks laterthis was after I

had been disowned and all thatI got a letter saying that
they had checked my medical historybecause I did fill out
all the forms and everything in the beginning of the draft
processand they found that in the fifth grade Id had a leg
injury that precluded me from military service.
At the time, I was skydiving, I was a pole vaulter and I heard

this voice, clear as dayI was going to say, But wait, Im
an athlete, and this voice as clear as day said shut up!

Maybe that was my higher self, I dont know, but I heard this
voice, clear as day, say shut up. So to this day Im the only
one in my family who hasnt gone into the military. My brother,
his children, my grand nephewthey have all served in Iraq
and everything.
Angela: So lets fast forward to what happened when you

had this brain cancer and you knew you were going to die
and you arranged for hospicewhat all happened then?
Mellen: That was a pure, pure miracle. I was clueless,

I was as thick as a brick in those days. I didnt have any
goals and I hadnt told anybody. In fact, I didnt even tell my
parents until it was all over.
I felt isolated, I felt alone. I was a self-employed artist with
no medical insurance and all my money was gone. And it
was just by pure chance that a dear friend of mine called
me one day and said that he had a friend and they were
going to drive down to the beach, which was about an hour
and a half away, and did I want to come with them?
I said, Sure, Ill go.
But it was when we got to the beach and were sitting on the
beach, the two of them got to talking about what they were
going to do with the rest of their lives. Both of them were
at an interesting point in their lives where they could really
start something new and do things.
I listened to this and it just broke me up. Thats the first time
I ever told anybody that I had no future, that I was terminal.

So it was a very quiet ride on the way home.

But I had met, through a friend, a woman named Susan. A
few days later she called me. And she explained she had
hospice training and that she was going to be in a situation
for the next year to be my hospice caretaker.
This was a window of opportunity; and she explained to me
what hospice was, and where we could go, and where she
could do this. And within two weeks I was packed up and
living in a completely different location and moved in to the
home that we turned into a hospice. And thats where I lived
out my days.
Susan was an absolute angel who just appeared suddenly
in my life. There was only one problem with that though,
once I got there. And that was that, I didnt realise that
she was a Christian, and I was not. She was a very nice
Christian girl. She wasnt preachy or anything, but she was
very concerned about me.
She took very good care of me but she would ask me to
occasionally pray with her. And I wouldnt do it. It would
make me angry. So I was not a happy camper.
I was probably not the best person to have in a hospice
situation.
I blamed everybody, including a

God I didnt believe in.

I had started withering away and lasted till February 1982.

I was withering away steadily, following doctors orders that
you will be dead.
Then a crisis moment came when she saidshe just from
the bottom of her heart one dayshe just tried and tried to
get me to pray for my soul, and I completely lost it on her. I
completely let her have both barrels, one end to the other,
about her stupid God, stupid religion, stupid prayers.
And I musted up enough strength to storm out and slam the
front door and I got as far as the end of the sidewalk and it
dawned on me, where are you going? This is the end of the
road.
Thats the longest walk I ever took. Turning back around
and going back to that door. I just knocked on it once and
she opened it. She was right there, and she said come in,
do you want some milk? because at that time, milk was
about the only thing that I could take in.
And she took care of me, but she never asked me to pray
again. She respected my wishes. Despite the tough case I
was, and the bad attitude I had, she took care of me.
Angela: How on earth did you get her to agree to what

you got her to do about your body?
Mellen: Well, it was very interestingI was clueless. It

was mostly her idea. Because she knew about these things.
The first thing we did was create a living will. Because I
didnt want to be resuscitated. I didnt want to be hooked up

to machines. And I knew for a fact that if my parents found

out that I was sick, and I went into a coma or something my
mother would never let me go. She would have me hooked
up to every machine there was. So they were not to be notified
until after it was over.
We had an agreement to monitor my vital signs with some
very good equipment to monitor my vital signs for up to six
hours. Because
I really did want to be dead.

I really did want to leave.
So when the day came, she found me in my room. I probably
died a bit earlier. She found me in my room and she began
immediately monitoring my vital signs.
She monitored my vital signs

for over an hour and a half, in
which I had no vital signs at all.
In fact, the bodyI dont know if you have ever been with
someone who has died, but theyre not passed outtheir
body changes. And so after about and hour and a half, she
was convinced I was dead.
So she went into the other room and prayed for a while, and
then at some point in thereand I will get to my near-death
experienceI had had my trip to the light and back, and I
actually fell back into my body and I fell off the bed.

She came in and found me

on the floor.
That was a rather strange experience for her and me! So,
my visit with the light, this most transforming visit in my
lifewhich was one of the most studied cases in the world
at this point, and all these years latergo figure.
I began a process in which I literally felt like Id woken up. I
was looking at my body. There was, like, a vapour leaving
my body.
And I had some notionbecause this was more vivid than a
dreamthat maybe I was dying, or already dead. I thought
I had, and of course I panicked. I tried to go down to her
room and wake her up. I couldnt wake her up and I found
myself back in the room.
It all had feelings, it had dimensions to it. Some of the
dimensions were feelings, some of the dimensions were
Oh, I get it now, suddenly all the dots are connected, I
understand what happened.
My story is interesting in that, and I will preface this with a
bookmark right herethat as far as we know I am the only
tested near-deather who goes back to the light at will, and
retrieves useful information. And I thought that was normal.
I didnt know other near-deathers werent doing that until I
asked for new dimensions of it. What did this mean, what did
that mean?
Im someone now who really understands the full dimension

of my experience. And I can explain it from all the way to a

quantum physics level, by this time. Depending to whom I am
talking.
Angela: So when you started this life review, you say it

went backwards in time to, lets say, before you were born?
Mellen: Yes, and what was interesting was, it ticked all the
way back till I was in my mothers I womb and she was getting
pregnant.
Angela: Oh, thats right. You told me about that, you

realised about the anger you had.... OK.
Mellen: And one of the things is, I got to see that some of
the small things in my life actually were quite heroic. I never
thought I had done anything good. I was never anyone to hurt
anybody or was a mean person but I thought I had wasted my
life.
I saw because of the way that I had been born and the way
that I was raised that I had never been able to receive love.
And that also meant that I could not give love. And I had lived
my life that way.
I saw that many people had tried to

love me and I couldnt receive it.
So I had a rather shallow life. One thing that was amazing
though, is, that as I was a baby of less than a year old or so, I
saw an incident.

My mother had never talked about these things. I talked with

her later and she confirmed all these stories, but she still
didnt understand how I could know all these things because I
wasnt even there, or wasnt old enough.
One of the things that I saw was that I had experienced what
you would call a crib death, sudden infant death, within the
first year of my life. I got to see what that was about. And that
is about a new spirit and a new life coming into this life with
so much karma and so much family stuff going on that you
say, I cant take this, I want to return.
Angela: Oh, wow.

Mellen: My mother came in and found me stiff. They rushed
us to the nearby hospital, with my father. The doctors took the
baby and said, well try to resuscitate the baby. This looks
bad. Literally they thought I was dead.
And my mother was told to go back to the waiting room where
she saw my father, my biological fatherfor the first time in
her lifepraying with all his heart. And I remember, from the
near-death experience, I was a little baby on this gurney.
I remember hands made of light,

lifting me to the light.
And I got almost to the light and then I woke up crying as a
baby again. And it was at that very time that my father was
praying.

Angela: So you died twice in one lifetime!

Mellen: I call that a close encounter.
But it got even more shocking. Because after that, my life
review continued to tick all the way backwards till I was a
baby in my mothers womb.
As a baby in my mothers womb,

I realised that babies, foetuses,
are completely aware of
whats going on.
You are plugged up to your mothers emotions, her hormones,
her hearing, everything. Youre plugged in, youre wired.
And my mother, although she left my father when I was quite
young, was never one of the divorced mothers to put down
the father. She never talked bad about the guy, ever. So I
didnt know that any of this had happened, at the time.
And so what I saw was that my father was an alcoholic, and
that he beat my mother repeatedly when she was pregnant.
In fact, she had had five miscarriages before, because of this.
She had never told me any of that.
Being a foetus in her belly with my father beating her, I could
feel everything. It was like red thunder going on. I could hear
her pain. And that she really did believe that she was going to
die.

And I believed it. And he beat her and threw her around and
everything.
I saw that our life can be

almost set by experiences we have
even before we are born.
And so my programming for the rest of my life was that this
life is going to be dangerous. There is going to be a lot of pain
in it. And that men are dangerous and untrustworthy.
I guess it affects different beings in different ways, but for me,
it really made me angry. I was born angry. And I had remained
angry until the day I died. That had affected my entire life.
Angela: So when you saw that, when you were in the light,
what changes did you feel happen to you, if any?
Mellen: Well, the life review is quite emotional, quite mind

blowing. It was when the life review ended, thatand you
can read about this on my websitethen, with grace, and the
help of what I guess you would call a guardian angel, which
surprised me, because I didnt believe any of that, I made my
way to the light.
It was when I was with the

light that I really learned
everything else.
The life review was like a download where you can connect
the dots. Like, OK, now I understand why I ended up the way
I did, but what does all that mean?
When I was with the light, which is what everybody tells you
it is, it feels like love, its euphoric. And one of the things I can
tell you is, part of that is the experience of dropping the karma
of the world, the karma of the survival world behind you. If
you could just drop all that, you would be euphoric at this
moment.
Part of the euphoria about being with the light and about
being out of body and out of the survival world is the releasing
of the incredible weight that we carry every day, to live. And
the heroic things we do every day to get through our day.
So when I was with the light, the first thought that came to
me, like any good atheistand I really wasnt an atheistwas:
Are you God?

And the light speaks to you, TO YOU. The light speaks to
you, the individual, in a way that you will understand it. Thats
what I can report and I think thats what many near-deathers
can report. It is a unique experience for each individual. Yes,
there are a lot of things that are similar, but the understanding
of things, of what you see, is really unique to you and your
experience.
I thought I was in a lot of trouble. (laughter) Oh boy, here I
am. After all these bad things Ive said about God.

Angela: Get ready, buddy. (More laughter.)

Mellen: So when I said, Are you God? the light said to
mein a way that I perfectly understood
Who and what is not God?

And at that moment I understood that there is nothing that is
not what we call God. Nothing. The good, the bad, the imagined,
the unimagined, the real, the unreal.
There is nothing that is not part

of what we call God.
And we are as direct a part of that as anything else in the
Universe is. So, if I had to answer the question of who is God,
I would literally have to name everything in the Universe and
that would take a long time.
So the proper answer to Who and what is not Godthats
any easy one to answer: Nothing. Its all God.
And there are going to be many more layers of what we call
God revealed to us now. Especially now in these times and
in the future. Many, many more levels of what we call life and
death, there is something even bigger going on.
There is much more than life and death going on in this
universe, in fact. So that was my first major revelation.

Angela: Now wait, just hold it a minute. When you say that
there is much more than life and death going on, open up our
minds here. Whats going on?
Mellen: Thats one of the most interesting and joyful things

that I have learnedthat:
What we consider life and death

is a continuum.
Its a continuum that we have been through from the beginning.
In the beginningand there was no beginning, there is no
end to this experience that we are having.
We have evolved from the densest of the dense energies to

the most subtle of subtle energies, and even beyond that into
what you might call void or zero point consciousness. Whats
so important about the near-death experience now, at this
time in history, is that we need to get past the fear of death
because that is an illusion.
I guarantee you, every time

you think that you die, you just
wake up again.

Every time you close your eyes, you wake up again.
Angela: In this body, or in another body, orI mean, how

does that work?
Mellen: Well, it can be in this bodyfor me it happened

that way. You could begin a new incarnationtherere a lot
of things that could go on there. Probably one of the greatest
things I learned on the other sidewas information thats
really not that much on the website right nowId really love
to do workshops on it in the future.
Angela: Lets tell people what your website is: you can find

Mellen: Yes. Its very important for us in our evolution right

now, both as material beings and as spiritual beings, to get
past this heaven and hell, to get past this life and death illusion
scenario.
Basically, we are maturing as spiritual beings. Were maturing
all the time as physical material beings.
And its always getting

better and better!
No matter what anybody tells you. That was what was the big
shock to me, because I thought it was all over. I thought we
had come to the end of things.

I was shown that creation

has just begun.
This is just the beginning, if you could put any kind of
measurement on it whatsoever.
Angela: When you say better and better, what does that
mean? There are people who emailed questions like, My life
is so hard and I am so tired, whats the point of all of this.
How is it going to get better?
Mellen: Well, this is the beauty of it all, from the Gaia point
of view, which is what I was plugged into on the other side.
We are evolving out of darkness

into light. We are becoming
more and more light beings.
There is nothing but light.
I want you to understand that biology is light. Atoms are light.
There are just very dense levels and very subtle levels of
these realms.
Angela: You said that things were going to get better?

Mellen: Oh, Yes, and they have. This shocks people. It

would have shocked me way back then to. But actually, if you
really think about things, things are better now than they have
ever been, for so many of us. There is so much going on, on
the planet.
Sure there are big problems and there always have been for
humanity and physical beings. There have always been problems.
But every human that is human right now, has been through
the entire evolutionary chain of everything that has happened.
No only on this planet but since the big bang.
As we acquire more
consciousness, what we call
negativitydarkness or evil
tends to vaporise.
Because the truth is that most human beings on earth are
the most graceful things you have ever met. Humans are the
most graceful vibration on planet earth.
And I go into that in my Gaia talk. Ill give you an example.
Right under your feet, right now, on your carpet, there is a
war going on, with no rules whatsoever. Humans are very
chauvinistic. We think only of the kind of life we live, but
there is so much life in the universelike microbial, bacterial.
These are conscious life forms also.
Now just outside your window in you yard, there are wars
going on that are unimaginable to you on your human scale.

The truth is that humans hunt

and prey on each other less than
anything else in the system.
Just last year the National Geographic had a front cover on its
July issue which showed the greatest killer of mankind in all
the history of the world. Do you know what it was?
It was not mankind. It was the mosquito. Is the mosquito evil?
Mosquitos have killed more humans and caused more human
misery on plan earth than any other activity put together, so
far.
So what you have got to do is realise that we are part of this
nature, part of the Gaia. We are part of a living system and a
living universe. We are part of it. We are not separate from it
at all.
Humans have come up with concepts like retirement. That
doesnt exist in any other system in our realm. Charity.Charity
has been getting bigger and bigger since the 1850s. The
amount of charity on planet earth is enormous right now.
What a concept, charity. Granted, some of it is inefficient and
doesnt get where we want it to go, but it is just the beginning
of that vibration.
Every time humans have had gigantic problems, they have
always found an answer, historically. That is our pattern.
Our pattern is not the

world ending.
Our pattern is not becoming extinct, our pattern is not the end
of things.
Our pattern has always been the

beginning of things.
For example, today, in this worldyes, OK, there are a lot
of problemsbut people have a very short attention span
for historical matters. There have been much worse times
on planet earth than what is going on right now. There have
been ninety percent extinctions on planet earth before we
even showed up. There have been some serious things that
have gone on to challenge mankind in history. Just in our brief
history, it is amazing what we have been through to even be
here now.
But historically, the pattern has been that we have always
worked things out. We have always come to solutions. Were
in a world now that is totally hooked up so all the problems
are soul-sized now. All the problems we have are planet-size
now. And this is appropriate for the times we are living in.
Because we are one being.
There is only one of us here.

But we are a multi-faceted, multi-dimensional being that is
hard for us to imagine at this point. At this time in history, why
do we need big answers? Why do we need answers on every
level?
There are more scientists alive, there are more healers, there

are more modalities of healing, there is more healing technology,

there is more grace on the planet, right now, than there was in
the dark ages or in the caveman days.
We are designed for success.

This is what I want people to start believing. We are, in fact,
designed for success.
And in fact, ecological speaking, the biggest polluter on planet
earth still to this day is still nature itself! Undersea volcanoes,
volcanoes.
Also, you know, one of the things I learned, which I will get
into later or in my Gaia talk that that we can do sometime, is
that, one of the things that we have to realize is, we should be
good stewards.
We should be certainly wiser and wiser as time goes on. And
we are. I could go on in infinite descriptions of how we are,
actually. In the end we either see the good in the world or we
dont.
I could not see any

of the good before I died.
And now I see so much good.
In fact, it is mostly good. In my workshops, I have challenged
people. I say, What if it was legal karmicly and legally to hurt
and kill anybody you wanted. And that was the way it was

here? How many people would hurt anybody? And I tell you,
even if it was legal, and there was no karma to it, most people
on earth would never hurt you.
Angela: Well, you know, thats been my experience....

Mellen: Most people would help you. Strangers will give
you a kidney. I mean how many times has that happened? So
we have to see what is really going on.
Part of our enlightenment has got to be more than spiritual
enlightenment. We have to become empowered through selfinitiation.
Because if you are waiting for the Della Lama, or if you are
waiting for Jesus or if youre waiting for the Pope to do it, it
is not going to happen, because they cant do it for you. You
know, even if they want to. They cannot do this step for you.
As we become enlightened, we become self-initiated, we
get over the fear of death. Then it is less and less easy to
manipulate us, which is beginning to happen now, big-time.
And we need to start interfacing with our systems here on
earth. Like, I meet so many spiritual people who never vote!
I meet so many brilliant people who never vote or participate.
In fact, most Americans, dont. If you look at the statistics.
Just think, if we all woke up and started putting our bias in the
systemI couldnt possibly tell you what to believe inbut I
do tell you this. Whatever you believe in, now is the time to
believe in it.

You have more power now than

you have ever had in history.
One thing that I suggest people to do is to open up your
phone book and go to the Government pages. These have
been provided to you for freeeverybody from your local to
your federal officials is listed there with addresses and phone
numbers. You dont even have to leave your house. You can
do it in your pyjamas.
I suggest that everyone, once a week, fax, email or call
everybody on that list. And give them your bias. If you did
that, if that happened, that would be the biggest revolution on
planet earth.
Angela: Wow. What an amazing thought. Why didnt we

ever think of doing that?
Mellen: I dont know. People ask me a lot of things that Ive

done, and I say, I dont know why we havent thought of this.
The other thing we could do, the most important thing we
could do for the ecology right now, would be to go to electric
cars. Thats something we could do right now.
It can be profitable. The biggest offender that humans do to
the environment is automobiles. So here is what I suggest to
people: whatever car you have, if its a good car, keep it for
ten or twenty years and repair it.
Or if you need to buy a new are now, tell your car company

that this is the last internal combustion car I will buy from you.
I am going to keep my car and keep it in good condition until
we have the electric cars that Im looking for.
Angela: Ive read that electric cars arent any better

because of the electricity that it take to generate the electricity
they run on.
Mellen: Well see, youre thinking of a system that might use

the old type of batteries.
Think out of the box. An electric car runs on electrons. The
universe is full of electrons.
Very soon, because our consciousness is getting there, we
are going to have things that resemble batteries that arent
batteries, that generate more than enough electricity for your
whole home and your cars and any thing you want.
Part of the future that I saw when I was on the other side is
that we are even going to have electric jets. Jet airplanes will
be electric.
So what we have to doI call it the pyjama revolutionyou
dont even have to leave your home, or even get out of your
pyjamas to be a revolutionary.
Angela: So you just call these people up and tell them what
you think.
Mellen: Call them, email them, fax them or whatever. See,

heres the other thing. You have got to be consistent. You

have got to do it on a regular basis, forever, not just once.

The biggest problem with marching in the street and all this
other stuff is the march goes away.
But if people did that once a week or once a month, we would
have a different government than we have now. And the good
news is that, and you may have heard this, I know its true,
that the people in Washington get very little feedback from us,
unless it is negative when they have screwed up.
But they are up there on their own and its like the head
doesnt know what the tail is doing. It is a dinosaur system.
You have to bring the wisdom to Washington. You have to
bring the wisdom into the system.
Forgive me for saying this. I know it may rub some people the
wrong way, but most politicians are real people-lovers. They
love people. They really do. They have families, they have
agendas.
Everybody has an agenda or a conspiracy. I am actively
working on my conspiracy as we talk. My conspiracy is to
bring heaven to earth. This is true empowerment.
You cant wait for all the saints in the universe to come and do
this for you.
You are already empowered to do

all that you want to do.

You cant die, you will never die. You will only wake up smarter
and smarter.
Angela: There is a question here somebody emailed in:

What is the point of it all?
Mellen: I get asked that, and actually I asked that question

of the other side. Heres the beauty of it all. Because when
you really get it you are going to love it: there is no point.
There never was. There never was a plan. The universe
wasnt created as a plan. It doesnt have a beginning and an
end goal.
The light said we were given the Universe to make of it what
we will. And that is the greatest gift you are ever going to
receive. Its a life that cannot be taken away from you.
Angela: Thats a pretty big gift.

Mellen: So what kind of world do you want? What kind of
life do you want? That is ultimately up to you and that is what
all our teachers are trying to teach us.
Angela: So what about suffering? Is it really necessary?

Or is it something that we put ourselves through? And can we
get rid of our karma? You were talking about if you could shed
your karma right now, we would be euphoric. How do you do
that?
Mellen: Well, we are living in the time of the end of karma.

Karma really is, technically, cause and effect. This is a basic
principle of the Universe, cause and effect.

I asked the light about this whole topic. Because people

believe there are no accidents.
From the Gaia perspective, the Light educated me that that is
a form of hindsight wisdom. Hindsight. Its not foresight.
In a free and open universe,

there has to be room for accidents
and free radical activity.
...or this would be a closed loop universe.
The human mind is a very interesting form of consciousness. I
have tested people in workshops on this. Our mind can make
sense of anything. But that doesnt mean it makes sense.
There was a bumper sticker I saw recently that said dont
believe everything you think. In my book that I am about to
finish in the next couple of months, there is a whole chapter
called the Rorschach Universe.
You know what Rorschach isthe ink blot test. Everybody
can look at the same ink blot and get a different story. Thats
the universe, thats the stars you are looking at.
Ive tested people with this, Ive created these grids on poster
boardsrandom dots. I had them all copied. The dots are all
the same. I had them all copied on a big board and gave it
out to five different groups.
I had them connect the dots without looking at anybody else.

The same dots, in the same positionsand it is infinite how

many different ways people can connect the dots. Does the
dot make a picture?
You know, its a fascinating form of consciousness we have
its creative, brilliant. Thats why we live more in our metaphors.
More in our imagination, right now, as children do. And so
sometimes you create scary things, sometimes you create
painful things.
Angela: We really do have the ultimate choice, dont we?

Mellen: Animals suffer, plants suffer; in the physical world
there is radiation, there are natural accidents, there is thunder
and lightening, there are rocks that fall on you. Somebody has
a bad mood one day and mows you down by accident or just
mentally ill and hurts you.
As we raise our consciousness,

suffering becomes less and
less for humans.
We are really entering into a period in which we are going to
have foresight, not hindsight.
And thats why children are very different today than they
were when I was a kid. Children are very different. And thats
because there is more wisdom on the planet now. You know
the average child today, just born today, this day, has more
knowledge at their fingertips than Einstein could even imagine.

So thats why we must support our children. America needs to

have the finest education system. In America, teachers need
to be treated with the ultimate respect and treated very well
and prestigiously.
You know, we say we love

children, but we have one of the
worst education systems in the
world at this time.
And who suffers? Our children.
And then the old people who have worked all their lives and
paid their bills and their taxesthey are not being treated with
respect at the end of the day. Which is ridiculous, isnt it, in a
conscious, enlightened society.
In the future that I saw, the industrial military complexes are
winding down and whats going to replace it, is that America
will become one of the great education centres for the whole
worldit will make more money than the entire industrial military complex.
Angela: Wow, thats a thought.

Mellen: If we invest in our schools and we invest in our
teachers and we invest in our children, the entire world will
come here and it will be very profitable. Because a military
industrial complex really doesnt make that much money for a
lot of people. Just a few.

Angela: And it hurts a lot of people.

Mellen: Yeah, but you have to also look at this from a Gaia
perspective. Because, you know, there are some people who
eat meat and some dont. There are some who, you know,
go get their own food and raise their own food, and there are
some people who just go to whole foods.
In the Gaia perspective, what the military represents is our
immune system. Those we call patriots or soldiers, the people
who volunteer or give their life to go fight our enemies are
really like our T cells, our white cells, our immune system.
We should respect our immune system. We shouldnt misuse
it on misadventures. Our immune system needs be focused
on what it needs to beI saw the military turning into a service
organization. Which it should be. I mean Katrina should be
over by now. New Orleans should be rebuilt.
Angela: Well, thats the truth. I love the idea of the military
becoming a service system, where they help people get back
on their feet again.
Mellen: Youre going to see this worldwide. A metaphor I

saw on the other side was talking about the American West.
There was a time in the American west when anybody could
pull out a gun and shoot anybody. There was no law. And in
fact, because of the way the guns were designed back then
without any rifle barrels, by-standers got killed more than the
combatants! Which is true in every war in history.
There have been more civilians and children killed than ever

in combatsand that includes Iraq.... I get a little emotional

about that. It still gets me. What were paying forevery
American is paying for this right now.
We have to become enlightened and say that we are not
going to pay for this kind of thing.
Law finally came to the west and now it is illegal to have a
gunfight in any street in America. Isnt it? It is illegal.
In the not too distant future, its

going to be illegal to have a war no
matter who you are on the planet.
Illegal to have warthat is coming. Law is going to come to
the west. And youre not going to just be able to start a war
because you are some President or youre some King, you
know what I mean?
Angela: Well, I hope so.

Mellen: Thats what I saw coming.
Angela: Well, lets talk about something thats related to
that, which is forgiveness. I mean, we have questions here
from people who have done bad things in their life and they
cant forgive themselves.
Where does forgiveness come in, and how do people do that
for themselves?

Mellen: The end of karma is forgiveness. Thats how you

end karma. You have to forgive and forget.
Love and forgiveness are two

of the most important things we
could ever come to.
You have to be able to forgive those who did things to you,
and yourself for what you did to others during the particular
stage of life that you were in. I was a really dense character.
I never took very good care of pets when I was younger. But
now my pets are like kings and queens, because I see them
as sensitive beings.
To end karma, you must forgive and forget. And for some people
that may seem like the most impossible thing right now, and it
also may seem like the hardest thing in the world to do, is to
forgive yourself.
Angela: Yes. I think that is the hardest, yeah.

Mellen: But it is the end of karma. We must come to this
on our own path and realize that today is today and yesterday
was yesterday.
We must forgive and forget

and forget means dont repeat.

Angela: It doesnt mean forget the thing, it means dont do

it again?
Mellen: Nature never forgets anything. Thats why our

cellular memory can never be cleared, you can only change
the charge on it, neutralize the charge to the negative.
Nature loves memory. You cannot lose memory. Its an
incredible part of the universe.
But we can change the charge on memory. You can be
enlightened. You can put light to it. And that means, even
with people. If there are some people who you feel you can
never forgivewell, if you cant forgive them, you are going to
repeat incarnations with them.
Angela: Oh, joy forever!

Mellen: For your own good, if for no other good, you must
forgive others. But the forget part means: dont hang out with
them anymore. Because they are liable to do this again to
you. So, you know, once fooled, twice, shame on you. Thats
what we have got to learn. All these emotional things with
people, with most of them we should just get away from them.
Angela: Either that, or become more self-empowered.

Mellen: And thats part of love and forgiveness. They are
the most empowering things you can embody.
Angela: Well, Mellen, I am going to skip completely to the

left herewe had a question about crop circles and you gave

me a really interesting answer when we spoke before when

you told me what you found out in the light about crop circles.
Mellen: Yes, Ive been asked to look into things like that, and
every time I have gone to the light and asked for an answer
and I have gotten answers to genetic diseases and stuff like
that and questions for other think tanksbut every time I go to
the light and I ask about the crop circles they just laugh.
Angela: Like its a cosmic joke or something.

Mellen: Yeah, its like there is something so obvious about
the whole thing.
Angela: I think that the crop circles are manifestations of the

earth just making art.
Mellen: Could be. Could be. Now, many times people say,
Mellen, you have the ability to know everything now, but Im
telling you, you dont want to know everything. I actually love
a mystery. If you could read most peoples minds, believe me,
after a while, you wouldnt want to read them.
Angela: Yeah, its fun having a mystery.

Mellen: It is. Its a thoughtinto how that mystery evolves
and unravels. I tell people that I crossed the line years ago. I
know way to much. But I tell you this, whatever ignorance you
have left, cherish it. You will miss it when its gone.
Angela: Mmmm. What a thought. Now somebody asked,

can we really use the ideas behind quantum Physics to create

the life that we really want, and how do we do that?
Mellen: The answer is yes. Its whats going on anyway. Its

the most natural thing in the universe. Remember that Gods
magic is physics.
Too many people go supernatural before they have even
explored the natural magic of the universe.
Its childish to always want the

super magic without even seeing
the magic in front of you.
Yes, Quantum Physics is real.
One simple explanation or example of it is what they call in
physics the butterfly effect.
Angela: Thats real huh?

Mellen: Its real, absolutely real. They know that one breath
you breathe about a year later circles the whole earth and
comes back again. See what I mean? So what I like to do is
prayer.
Praying out loud

goes around the world.

I have a Native American drum. I love to drum. Its a radionic

vibrational instrument that you use to create and de-create.
If I have a bad dream, I get up with my drum and just de-create
with my drum and vibration. When I pray, I pray with my drum
and I add that radionic vibration to my prayer, and it goes
around the whole earth, it really does.
Angela: Around the whole earth?

Mellen: Absolutely. So what really keeps the world going is,
inside almost every humans heart, is the desire to go on and
see tomorrow. And thats so powerful.
Angela: Well now, speaking of which, we have a class

have spent the rest of my life since my near-death experience

lot of these technology things will probably be coming out this
year, 2008.

Mellen: So most of your best life is still ahead of you. You
still have a whole life ahead of you.
Angela: So for people who say, Im too tired, whats the

point and all thatthe point is just to be here and love and
live and have a good time.
Mellen: Yes. Make of it what we will. Most humans tend to

want to make this a joyful, curious, regenerative experience.
And that is called heaven on earth, bringing heaven to earth,
which we will accomplish, sooner than we think.
Angela: We have got about 2 minutes more, Mellen, can

you think of anything else you want to add to this information?
Mellen: Well, I would encourage everybody to remember

this: prayer is so important. It doesnt have to be religious, but
if you do vocalize your prayer, like at the beach, or at home,
or on the deck, it will go across the world.
One of the most important

things that you can do is to hold a
good thought for the world.
Hold a good thought in your
heart every day.

Thats an important job, thats an important piece that only

you can do.
Angela: Now, when you say it goes across the world, what
effect does that have? Does it ripple out?
Mellen: Oh, yes, it spreads out, and there is actually so little

evil in the world that the more of us who become enlightened,
the sooner the better, the sooner we will create this heaven
on earth. It is the most important thing that you can do, no
matter what is going on in you life.
I was in the worst shape a human can be in when I was
sick, and I know that even at my sickest moment, I would
have traded any one of you for the worst day of your life.
Because even that day has more potential than you can
imagine.
Angela: Oh Mellen. I hear you. That is really wonderful.
