(d) EK line should be connected to the proposed Ambathale Ethulkotte express line
through new SF6 load break switch (remote operated) at K.
(e) Install a new surge arrester set at new Gothatuwa town (E) and connect KE 33kV
line to UG cable line coming from primary substation which is constructed by LECO.

1.2

CLIMATE
The climatic data given are for the standard period for 1961-1990. This data has
to be up dated with the latest available data.
The climate is that of a tropical region and the following meteorological
information is set out for guidance only.
(A) AIR TEMPERATURES
Records are available for the monthly mean daily maximum and minimum
temperatures with offset from average. The averages are taken for the standard
period 30 years and all shown in Table 1.2.1.

(iii)

Monthly means of the relative humidity obtained from dry and wet bulb
readings with offsets from average.

(iv) Monthly means of the relative humidity obtained from the minimum dry and
maximum wet bulb readings with offsets from average.
The averages are taken for the standard period of 1961-1990 and are
shown in Table 1.2.2 .

Records are available for monthly means of the air pressure taken at 08.30 and
17.30 hours as mean sea level pressure. The averages are taken for the
standard period of 1961-1990 and varies from 1007.1 mB to 1013.1mB.

The rainfall figures given in Table 1.2.3 are based on average rainfall.

STORMS

The frequency of thunder-storms is high, the isokeraunic level being


approximately 60 days per annum on average for the island.

Adherence to the Environmental Mitigation Measures

Bidders are requested to comply with the requirements stated in the Chapter 1 ,
clause 1.42 of Section 6, Part B-Technical Specification and also to the
environmental safeguard measures described in the following documents
attached in the Section 6, Employers requirements, Part D-Supplementary
Information.
The said documents prepared in accordance with the governing acts and /or
guidelines, which are particularly relevant to this project may be inspected and a
copy each obtained free of charge from the office of the Project Manager- Clean
Energy and Access Improvement Project, Part 3 Distribution Substation
