A rough texture has to be obtained to provide a mechanical key for the subsequent coat. The applied BRC should be water cured for a
period of 2 days (3-4 times daily). A spatter dash/key coat of Conmix CP2 or site mixed cement sand (1:4) is to be applied to a thickness
of 6-8 mm over the entire area (block work & prepared concrete areas). A minimum of 48 hours has to elapse prior to the application of
ERP. Water curing is an absolute must during this period. Conmix AUTEX Fibre Glass Mesh /Expanded metal Lath (As approved by
the consultant) to be fixed at all junctions of dissimilar backgrounds (i.e. fair faced concrete and block work) or a groove has to be formed
at the junction while the plaster is still soft.
MIXING
ERP supplied in 50 kg bags has to be mixed with potable water only, in a clean plastic bucket or clean non-corrosive, uncontaminated
metal tub. To ensure a homogeneous and uniform mix, an electric agitator must be used. The amount of water to be added is 8.5 ltrs
per 50 kg bag (i.e. approximately 17% by weight) . Add ERP to water, turn the contents of the bag carefully and stir frequently.
The amount of water added and mixing time should be constant for every batch to avoid colour variations in the finished product. Once
mixed, allow to stand for 5 minutes and mix again before applying. No further water should be added to the mix. Hard and set plaster
should not be re-mixed or used.
APPLICATION
Mixed ERP can be applied, in a single coat, onto the prepared background to a thickness of 18 mm, levelled and finished to achieve
the required design. Various types of finishes can be achieved by using different techniques during final finishing stage (approximately
1.5 hours after application depending on ambient conditions).
Suggested finishes are as follows:
1. Sponge float to achieve a wavy, semi rough, traditional finish.
2. Wood or plastic float to achieve an even and rough texture.
SPECIAL NOTES
ERP has to be protected from direct wind, sunlight and rain during application. ERP should be applied in one continuous operation up
to angles, features or in panels measuring not more than 15 m2. Cold joints should be avoided. ERP has to be water cured for at least
2 days (3-4 times daily) by applying a fine mist spray of potable water on the entire surface.
Conmix Technical Service Department will assist in these procedures upon request.
For application procedure in case of light weight blocks, concrete containing micro silica, GGBS, curing compound or any special additive
or special building material, kindly contact Conmix Technical Service Department for assistance. In areas of high pollution or other
contaminations, the cleaning of the surface of Scratch Coat can be made easy by the application of Conmix CONTXTRA range of
products.
STORAGE
Conmix ERP must be stored in a dry place, off the ground and well covered. Hard or lumpy material must be rejected.
