Labour leadership election and the possibility that left wing MP Jeremy Corbyn will win the race. Jeremy has made clear his opposition to Tory austerity and his message has received massive support. Hes been speaking to enthusiastic audiences across Britain, arguing that we need to resist the Tories, the cuts, racism and war. Everyone on the left should hope that he wins, and that we reject the toxic Blair years. If Jeremy leads a fight against the cuts he will continue to see his support grow.
Wider
Some have already said he should
compromise to gain wider support over issues like membership of NATO and the defence of migrants. This would be a huge mistake. In Greece the radical Syriza party was elected to end years of austerity. Sadly, under pressure from the banks and the EU, its leaders buckled and went back on their promises to fight. more refugees into Britain.
But as people see the horror of people dying in their thousands as they try to escape war and poverty, even this debate is shifting. It isnt refugees that have cut our pay and slashed our public services. Its the Tories and the bosses. Lets hope Jeremy Corbyn is elected and sticks to his plan to tackle austerity.

The result is support for Syriza has
plummeted and the party has split ahead of new elections. Whether as Labour leader or as a future prime minister, Corbyn will always be under pressure to be reasonable and back some version of austerity.
Lesson
But the lesson from Greece is clear.
Jeremy Corbyn should stick to his guns, on every issue. The Tories and their friends in the media have spent months scapegoating migrants. They even argue against taking
Years
But even if he wins, its almost five
years until the next general election. We cant wait until then to fight. On 4 October the TUC has called for a mass protest at the Tories conference in Manchester. Everyone who can should join the march. And on 2 November the TUC has called another protest against the new anti union laws. We have to mobilise to make that a massive event. We cant let the Tories limit our right to strike even further. To shatter the Tories and austerity we will need mass strike action thats where the power lies to stop the cuts for good.
