From the Pastor’s Desk - A Fallen World
“There once was a man named Job
who lived in the land of Uz. He was
blameless—a man of complete
integrity. He feared God and
stayed away from evil” (Job 1:1).
For those who have read
this book in the Bible, then
you know how it starts. In the
beginning, it sounds like a
great fairytale as we are told
of this man known as Job.
We are told that he was a
great man, blameless in
God’s sight. He trusted in the
One True God and knew that

Our Children need your
help!!!
As many of you know, VBS
is one of the greatest places
for the church to both teach
our children about God and
God’s love and also to reach
out into our community and
share that same love with
children who may or may not
have been exposed to the
God’s love.
As you look at your calen-
dars and start planning your
all that he had was truly a gift
from God. His life was great!
But then it happened. Just as
it did in Haiti last month and
in Chile only yesterday, dis-
aster hit. For Job, he lost all
he had as he lost his property,
his live stock and servants,
and even his family.
In Job’s case; just as in the
case of those affected by the
storms, the question is why?
Why does God allow this to
happen to them; to me?
And it continues to be the
most asked question in hu-
manity: Why? … If there is a
God; Why?
I am not here today to give
you all the answers, but I will
give you the peace which Job
summers, it is my prayer that
you will pencil in the week of
July 18th and help share the
love of God with our chil-
dren.
This year Bright Hope Lau-
rel will be taking a “Holy
Land Adventure” as we host
“Egypt: Joseph’s Journey
from Prison to Palace.”
Vacation Bible School will
be the week of July 18th. The
