Part-time JEDI Human Resource Specialist

JEDI is looking to hire a part-time Human Resources Specialist. Reporting to the CEO, s/he
will be part of JEDIs operational team. JEDIs vision and goals are achieved through the highest

Key Responsibilities include:

Knowledge and monitoring of JEDIs HR Policies and Procedures with all staff

Establish and oversee a Performance Review process for JEDI managers and staff

Identify an HR Management information system (HRMIS) as required

Work with CEO and other staff on succession plans for the JEDI organization

Organize and maintain all JEDI personnel files, including vacation days, sick leave, and other
leaves, and personnel contracts (i.e. Letters of Offer and other contracts)

Coordinate recruitment, selection, interview and hiring processes with the JED management
committee

Deal effectively with Human Resource issues such as disciplinary issues, performance,
absenteeism, conduct, etc. as per the direction of the Management committee

Coordination of a JEDI Health and Safety committee including tracking and


scheduling meetings, training sessions, etc.

Providing direction in the recruitment of JEDI staff positions including sourcing of


candidates, behavioural based interviewing, conducting reference and criminal record
checks and new hire orientations

Identify and coordinate staff information sessions (i.e. brown bag lunch sessions, etc.)

Project management and other human resources related activities

Other duties as directed by the CEO and/or the management committee.

The ideal candidates will possess:

Completion of BBA or College diploma with a concentration in Human Resources or


an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

A Human Resources Designation (CHRP) would be considered an asset

Knowledge of applicable Human Resources law (Provincial and Federal) and strategies for
compliance

Experience with payroll, benefits and/or recruitment

Strong interpersonal skills

Proven analytical and problem solving skills

Expert knowledge with MS Office products

Ability to coordinate daily tasks and ongoing projects effectively and efficiently within
specified timeframes

Ability to work independently and within a team environment

Ability to work with confidential and personal information discretely and professionally.

Experience working in a non-profit environment as an HR Specialist

Knowledge of or experience working with an Aboriginal organization and/or working with


Aboriginal people
