PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to follow proper activities of survey works for setting of grid lines
& recording of existing ground level to carry out excavation and other works in all buildings in the
BIAL project as per the technical specification and standards.

SCOPE
It includes survey works for setting of grid lines & recording of existing ground level to carry out
excavation for all types of foundations and other works in all buildings. The work shall be carried
out in accordance with the specifications and corresponding approved drawings.

Shall report to the Construction Manager.

Shall be responsible for control, supervision and direction
for implementation of this procedure.

Site Engineer / Surveyor

Shall report to the Site In Charge / Common services incharge

Shall carry out the work as per the drawings and
specifications.
Shall report to the QA/QC In-charge.
QC Engineer shall carry out Lab / Field test
QA Engineer shall carry out all field Inspection / Checking

METHODOLOGY
5.1 Equipments
Total Station, Theodolite, Leveling instrument, Measuring tape, etc.
5.2 Procedure
1. Clean the site & level it with minor cutting/filling.
2. Establish grid pillars at least 1m away from the actual excavation boundary.
3. Demarcation of the plot & marking the actual boundaries.
4. Setting up of grid lines in both the directions & locating centerline of column footings,
Retaining wall and compound wall
5. Establish temporary benchmark for level control with reference to the benchmark
provided by the client/customer.
6. Protect the benchmark with proper barricading to avoid any disturbance.
7. Before starting excavation all the pre levels to be recorded.
8. Record all the levels of the existing structure.
9. Check the required bottom level of PCC
10. Transfer the grid lines in both directions over the PCC
11. Check the top level of the footing & raft after casting.
12. Transfer the centerline for Columns on the raft for column kickers.
13. Check the line of column after de-shuttering
14. Transfer BMs on column to facilitate level control of floor slab.
