MARCH 2010
Pastor’s Letter
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
We greet you with much joy during this season of Lent when we are preparing
our hearts to celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. "Christ is risen!
He is risen indeed!" This is the Easter greeting of our brothers and sisters around
the world!
My prayer for you is that you might live with resurrection power. Scripture
tells us, ``That I might know Him and the power of His resurrection!" Our prayer Dates to Remember:
for you is that indeed you will pray and fast, work and meditate during the month
of March so that our collective lives at TTBC will be an expression of JOY and
RESURRECTION POWER! Sunday, 3/7/10
There are so many wonderful things happening at TTBC by the power of the Fellowship Luncheon &
Spirit:
1. On February 21st, we had a wonderful Union Service with our brothers and Assessment Meeting
sisters from the Ethiopian and Spanish-speaking churches. It was a blessed time
of unity and joy. For some it was a little taste of heaven. Beyond languages and 12:30 pm - 2 pm Chipman
cultures, we are united in Jesus Christ.
2. Congregational Assessment: Dr. George Bullard has sent in his final report
and assessment. Members of TTBC agree that on the church spectrum chart Wednesdays ~
which shows infancy to old age, TTBC is defnitely in old age and on the verge of
dying. I think we all agreed on that. The good news, however, is that a significant Pre-Prayer Mtg. Fellowship
number of members agree that we can begin again and gain a new vision of
where God wants us to go. Chipman Hall
Therefore, in discussion with the Church Council, we have agreed that on
Sunday, March 7, 2010, at our monthly Fellowship Luncheon, we will review 5 : 30 pm - 6 :15 pm
the Recommendations made by Dr. Bullard. Therefore, please come to a
Fellowship Luncheon and Church meeting to hear about what we must do next to
Bible Study & Prayer -
gain a new vision. (See attachments!)
3. The Church Council meetings have been re-born and are now opportunities
for studying serious questions as to the future of our TTBC. I am pleased that we 6:30 pm - 7:30pm Chapel
are moving from incrimination to reconciliation. Many are well along on this
pilgrimage. Reconciliation is never a final achievement, but it is a pilgrimage, a Thursdays ~ 3/4, 11, 18 & 25
journey of faith and forgiveness!
4. Church Audit: Finally, after 7 years a compilation audit has begun. Many Organ Recital - 12:15 pm
thanks to Alfreta Barrett and the Audit Committee. We have hired the firm of
RSM McGladrey of Burlington, MA. Eventually we will have a full scale audit. “15 Minutes for God” -
This will help overcome many concerns.
5. Annual Meeting: Our next Annual Meeting date: Sunday, April 18, 2010.
6. The Process of Nomination of TTBC Church leaders: It is our goal and Sunday, 3/28/10
prayer that as Baptists we do everything "decently and in order", as well as with
transparency and openness. I am pleased that the Deacons and Church Council Palm Sunday Service -
have approved a plan which begins with every church member being called upon
to make suggestions and recommendations for positions in TTBC. Converse Hall ~ 11:00 am
The timeframe of this process is spelled out in the attached letter which I
have written to the congregation! 12:30 pm - ARISE Bible
7. Mission and Evangelism: I have reminded the congregation in most sermons
that we must become a missionary and evangelistic people. Indeed, as a great Study Class Luncheon
theologian said, "The Church exists by mission, as fire exists by burning!" Every
member must bring one! Who have you brought this year? This month? Quiet Room, 5th floor

Please continue to pray! Indeed, Scripture reminds us that "Prayer changes things!" Do you want change in your life and in this
church? Then you need to pray! You need to come to Prayer Meeting on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm. Wonderful things are
happening! Where have you been? Come and be blessed and be a blessing. Enjoy the fellowship of snacks at 5:30 pm (before Prayer
Meeting) !
Recently, Pastor Lotz visited Gordon Conwell Seminary where he will be conducting a class on Doctor
of Ministry in Missiology in early spring. While visiting the Seminary he was extremely encouraged by
some of the enthusiastic remarks he received concerning the future of Tremont Temple.
Pastor Lotz is encouraged by the increased attendance at the Wednesday evening Prayer Service.
“Prayer Changes Things”. It was noted that each Sunday we are having several visitors and have seen an
increase of people seeking membership in our church.
The Men’s Bible Class which began in January is now attended by 10-15 men each Sunday. They meet
on the first floor. The teachers are:. Geoffrey Hicks, Montgomery Fraser and Kenneth Overshown.
ALL MEN WELCOME!
The Adult Bible Class, taught by Sylvia Evans, continues to meet on the 7th floor in Friendship House
and is well attended. A new class for all young women, college & career and singles has been formed.
Yovanny Pulcini will be the teacher. Janice Lotz and Evangeline Jiminez will be part of the teaching
team. The first class will begin on Sunday, March 7th, in the Quiet Room, 5th floor, 9:30 am.
We received a Congregational Assessment and Learning Experience Review from Rev. George W.
Bullard, Jr. , a result of the week end Congregational Assessment in January. When we have received
the Recommendations and Next Steps from Rev. Bullard, they will be reviewed in entirety with the
congregation.
Communion Offering for the month of March will be designated to Teen Challenge and for April it will
be designated to Children’s Haven.
Respectfully submitted,
