D3!OMFS!Seminars!
Rotation starts promptly at 8:30 am in the OMS Clinic (2nd floor). Orientation is
given on the first day at 8:30 am. Check your personal schedule for your rotation date.
Some may have them in the Fall, some in the Spring.
For those students who are rotating in oral surgery this week and are having difficulties
accessing the Instrumentation Module, you may submit the certificate of completion
before the end of your rotation this upcoming week.
Before your rotation you must complete the following:
The Dentoalveolar Surgery and Instrumentation online quiz and printed certificate
of completion
The Medical Emergencies online quiz and printed certificate of completion
Currently, we can't retake the Medical Emergency quiz. Please wait till
access has been reset. Only if you are scheduled for your OMFS Clinic
rotation during the first week of the Fall semester: the Medical Emergencies
module and certificate is due by the end of your rotations.
Review and have available at your rotation (on an electronic device or printed
hard copy) the Manual For Extractions.

Complete the dental management quiz before class on 9/9/15. The quiz is not graded.
Answers will be discussed in lecture.
Oral!Diagnosis!and!Radiology!
Rotations begin as of tomorrow morning and you will be assigned to Admissions Clinic 2
or 3 times this semester. The majority of your rotations occur after January 1, 2016.
Your assigned rotation in the Admissions Clinic will either be the two morning sessions or
the afternoon and evening session. Please note there is no break between the 8:30 AM
and 10:45 AM sessions. PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE CLINIC WITHOUT SPEAKING
WITH FACULTY FIRST.
Students assigned to Oral Diagnosis and Radiology Clinic rotation will be in attendance for
ALL sessions assigned on the indicated date. Attendance is MANDATORY. No other
rotation supersedes your rotation in Admissions.
Any excused sessions must be cleared at least 24 hours in advance with the course
director, for illness/emergency, the day of is acceptable. There are penalties for
UNEXCUSED sessions.

IMPORTANT: It is absolutely crucial to read the syllabus for all departments. There
are MANY details that cannot be explicitly outlined by clinical affair reps and it is your
responsibility to make sure you understand all requirements. Although it may seem

overwhelming, being able to understand the syllabus is crucial to ensuring your success
in clinic. This was a BIG tip from all faculty and upperclassmen because last year many
students struggled at the end of the year to complete requirements they were not aware
of. At this time, exams pile up so its not the best time to spend off sessions trying to
complete requirements.
ALL formatives are now to be done on axium. Anything that was done over the summer
can be submitted directly to your GPD. Remember, you need to complete one class II
and one class III formatives this year.
Axium will now automatically confirm all patients with the correct email/phone number.
Make sure to update your patient information during appointments.
You can start clinic off-session starting September 1st. Heres the protocol:

When booking off-sessions, make sure you have filled out both the approval form that you
get from your AC and have scheduled the patient appropriately in AxiUm. You'll know if you
are in the right screen because only 6 chairs will be available for scheduling and is under the
GPD who is present during your off-session.
