Rationale
This subject is intended to teach the students about various aspects of construction ,
working principle ,testing and application of 3 phase Induction motor. This will also
enable them to learn the speed control and performance characteristics of the induction
motor.
OBJECTIVES

1.1.0 Understand the Principle of Induction Motors

Three phase induction motor - Principle of operation - production of rotating magnetic
filed in a three-phase induction motor speed of rotating magnetic field
Constructional details of squirrel cage and phase wound motors -TEFC/Flame proof -
skewing of rotor in squirrel cage motor advantages.
