REPORT ON CEMENT FACTORY VISIT

Dear Sir,
Eighty five Students of B-Tech III Yr (Civil Engineering), Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of
Engineering and Technology (GRIET) along with 4 faculty members (Dr. V Srinivasa Reddy,
Mr T Srinivas, Mr Naresh Kumar and Mr Sinkanth) have visited My Home Industries limiteds
MahaShakti cement plant at Mellacheruvu, Nalgonda district for 2 days as a part of Industrial
Visit under ICI student chapter activity on 5 September 2015. All students assembled at 05:00
A.M. and reached the destination by 11:00 A.M.
First session was an address note by Uttam Kumar Roy (V.P.) and then followed by power point
presentation on manufacturing process of Cement, Emergency and Safety measures and their
quality control /assurance by Y.Srinivas (Manager-QA).Then there was a visit to limestone
quarrying area and their mining lands. Later lunch was served at VIP Guest house.
Over the next few hours, there was a visit to Stacking-Reclaiming plant hoppers, Kiln, Silos, XRay analyzer laboratory, Quality testing lab, Control rooms(CCR), Packaging unit. This was
accompanied by V.Purushottam (Asst.Manager-QA), Kalyan (Asst.Manager-Safety
department), J.Venkat Kumar (Process-Engineer), B.Mohan (Process-Sr.Engineer). Finally
there was an end note and student interaction by M M Patil (Joint President -Works).This was
followed by a Vote of Thanks by students and faculty members.
The visit drew to an end at around 05:30 P.M. and reached our college by around 12:30 A.M.
We must say that we are thoroughly impressed with the most efficient, 24 x7 automated
operations of the plant and had unique experience by watching the cement manufacturing
process from very near, particularly the procedures implemented to monitor quality control. All
of your personnel were extremely courteous and went out of their way to explain various
functions and answer queries of us regarding cement manufacturing process. Sir, On behalf of

(Mahashakti Cement Plant management) for giving us an opportunity to learn about cement

manufacturing process every courtesy and we extend special appreciation to you and your
personnel for warm reception including a delightful lunch at the VIP Guest house. We thank Mr
Suryanarayana of My Home Industries for arranging this wonderful visit.
