Truth in plain sight

The channel system is the core of
chinese medicine.
It is not a real thing but it clearly
depicts / describes our physiological
reality.
How to look at the channels from a
different angle to actually see the
truth ?

What is the most difficult part in the

clinic ?
Diagnosis
Guessing vs knowing

The need for a meta-method

Is acupuncture a dogma ?
Understanding the rules vs Following some rules
Macrocosmos and microcosmos : is it for real ?
Occult Anatomy ? What is the missing link ?

A contemporary method based on the

classical foundations of Chinese Medicine
The Channels Test was invented by a
Japanese physician acupuncturist.
It is based on a detailed study of the paths
of acupuncture channels and their
relationship to muscle chains.

A contemporary method based on the

classical foundations of Chinese Medicine

A contemporary method based on the

classical foundations of Chinese medicine

This approach combines the modern concepts of biomechanics and classical themes of traditional
acupuncture.
The selection of channels for treatment is based both
on the teachings of the Nan Jing (Classic of
difficulties) and a series of classic osteopathic tests.
The method aims, through a series of precise
movements to determine the channels involved in the
actual cause of pain.

When the channels involved in the chief complaint are

identified, selection of points is based on the teachings
of the Nan Jing (Classic of the difficulties) and that of
the Nei Jing (Classic of the Internal).
This choice is made from simple rules, according to a
precise protocol.

Check the validity of the diagnosis before

treatment

Determine the severity of the injury

Remarkably enough, this method can test the effects

of selected points immediately, before needling, to
ensure their effectiveness.
It is the patient's body that tells us which are the
best points to restore normal channel functions
and to relieve pain.

The protocol of The Channels Testing, can

immediately determine the severity of the disorder.
It ensures/evaluates the relevance of acupuncture to
treat the injury.
One of the great features of this method is that it
can expose imbalances in the channels which are
the source of pain.

Determine the severity of the injury

Various pain-free methods of treatment

Pain can be found on the pathway of a channel

without being caused by any imbalance in this
channel.

The treatment of channels and points can be done in

several ways inluding massage, acupressure,
stretching, moxibustion, acupuncture.
Between sessions, treatment can be enhanced by
placing semi-permanent needles.

Shoulder pain could be located on the LI channel, for

example, but could be caused by the imbalance of other
channels !

This is one of the great strengths of this method.

The characteristics of this method are :

In summary

Easy to share with MDs and other
health profesionnals

This remarkable method allows you :

To determine the true channel(s) involved in pain.
To select the points of treatment.
To immediately control the effectiveness of selected points.
To determine whether an injury is serious or is not suitable for this
method.
To work proactively on all fatigue related efforts/activities and to avoid
injuries.
To improve psychomotor performance (ROM: Range Of Motion, force,
power, speed, coordination, precision)

A practical training for immediate use

Jean-Sylvain Prot

All students will be able to immediately apply this

method at the end of the seminar.
The Channels Test is a fantastic tool that delivers
quick results or that tells us whether the injury is
severe or does not fall under this approach.
It is an essential therapeutic tool for all those who treat
musculoskeletal pain and appreciate the channelmeridian style of acupuncture.
