1. K-map shown is supposed to be VEM for the Boolean function;

f ( w, x, y, z) 0, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13 1

i) Check if the entries are correct if not correct them

ii) Simplify the K-map
iii) Implement the Boolean function using NAND gates alone.

2. There are three sensors S/W, D/N, H/N which will automatically perform the task shown below.
These sensor output are used as select lines of an active low output, 3 to 8 decoder. The decoder
output and additional gates are used to control four home appliances: Heater, AC, Light and TV.
When the control signal generated is High (i.e. =1); the respective home appliance will be switched
ON. Design a suitable digital circuit with the given data to perform the following task.
AC should be switched ON in summer and person is at home
Heater should be turned ON in winter and person is at home
Light should be switched ON in the night and person is at home
TV should be turned ON when person is at home

3. Design a 4 bit multiplier to multiply a2a1a0 with b2b1b0 resulting in an 8 bit product p5p4p3p2p1p0. If
required, you can assume that sufficient number of Full adder and half adder blocks are available.
-44. i) Figure on the right is realization of a 4 variable Boolean
function using 4to1 multiplexer. Obtain the Boolean
expression which is being realized this circuit.
ii) Implement the Boolean function given below using three, 2 to1 multiplexers and one OR gate.
