Chapter 1
INTRODUCTION
Rationale of the Study
Gives the overview of the chosen study topic
Provides a situationer
Explains the reason for choosing the research topic
Creates the need for the study
THE PROBLEM
Statement of the problem
Contains the main problem or general objectives
States the sub-problems or specific objectives
Statement of Assumptions
Optional
States prepositions whch the researcher asserts based on his/her own intuition,
experiences, and observations
Statement of Hypothesis
Optional
States the null hypothesis that require statistical testing
Significance of the Study
Mentions who are to benefit from the study and how each may be benefitted
Discusses the value of the study to individuals, groups, institutions, and to the discipline.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
This section presents the important terms included in the Statement of the Problem that
needs to be made operationa. The terms should be defined s it is used in this study.

Chapter 2
THEORETICAL BACKGROUND
Review of Related Literature
You are expected to build on what has already been done on you area of study. In this
section, you are to present what other scholars have already written or researched about.
Theoretical Framework
You can make sense of the review of related literate when you can put everything
together in a framework. You should be able to present the interconnectedness of the theories
already written about.
Conceptual Framework
In this section, you should be able to present the research variables under study and what
to do with them.

Chapter 3
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
This introductory paragraph specifies and qualifies the type of research used. The
research process or flow of research may be presented here in a schematic diagram.
Research Environment
Describes the locale/venue of the research
Includes a map, if necessary
Research Respondent
Describes the population and the sample to be surveyed
Provides reason for the selection of the population and sample
Describes the sampling method to be used and shows how the sample was derived
Research Instruments
Describes the instruments to be used in gathering data
Describes how the instruments were designed
Describes how the insturments will be pre-tested for validity and reliability
Research Procedures
Gathering of Date. Describes how primary and secondary data were collected.
Treatment of Data. Describes how the date were teated for meaning. Presents the
statistical tools used in treating the data.

Chapter 4
PRESENTATION OF DATA
Client
Describe your client
Describe what they want to happen in your proposal (desired behaviour)
User
Describe your users
Show demographics (how many users for your facility)
Describe activity flow (or how you expect users will use your facility)
Site

Show physical characteristics (boundaries, topography, hydrology, vegetation, existing

structures, etc)

Chapter 5
ANALYSIS OF DATA
Space Program
Show how you came up with your list of spaces
Show how you came up with your space sizes (dimensions)
Space Relationship Diagram
Show how you came up with your space relationships (bubble diagrams)
Note:
If space program sheets are made these should be placed at the end of the book as part of
the appendices.
Site Analysis
Evaluate your site
Development of Design Concept
Explain your concept of form.
Show the design strategies you want to adopt.

Chapter 6
SOLUTION
Design Development
This explains the step by step process in coming up with your design
Final Presentation
These are basically the drawing boards you presented in your thesis defence.
