Resources/Collection Centre
NSKSS to establish a resource/collection centre supported with weighing system and fair
pricing mechanism and facility to ensure the keeping and reconditioning of the collected goats
prior to their despatch to the slaughter houses.
The objective resource/collection centre is to
Strengthen the cooperatives as a business enterprise and be a catalyst to the socioeconomic development of the farmers.
Eliminate the middlemen and share the middlemen profits among the cooperative
and/or the slaughter houses.
Establish and provide fair pricing system so as to provide the fair price the farmers.
Ensure collection quality and quantity driven by the market demand forces.
Provide awareness and guidance among the farmers in regard to the quality
production.
Establishment
The resource/collection is required to be established with a goat shed to accommodate 75-100 live
goats with supported facilities of feed and water, weighing machines and manpower. The
established can be supported 50% through the W1 VCF of the establishment cost and the
remaining contributed by the cooperative and/or the slaughter house/ agribusiness. The operation
cost is required to be borne by the cooperative themselves.
Modus Operandi
The resource/collection will collect live goats from the farmers at their convenience
weighing mechanism. The collected goats will be reconditioned to regain their lost
their despatch. The shall provide service and supply inputs to ensure quality
ensuring minimum weight of thirty kg prior to sales, vaccinated, good health,
castration before 6 months of age, insurance and micro-finance reach etc.

Revenue
In the present scenario the middlemen buy & sell live goats at Nrs 300/- per kg. The lack of any
proper weighing mechanism these middlemen tend to earn profits by the reduced weight on
purchase at the farmers level. The resource/collection can charge a commission of 10% (approx.)
on the sales proceed. Hence the revenue can be earned at two levels
1. Commission of 10% (approx.) on the sales proceed of Nrs 900/- on total goat price of Nrs
9000/- assuming the live goat weighs 30kg at Nrs 300 kg
2. Price of additional weight gain of 1-3 kg of another Nrs 300-900/- by the reconditioning of
the goats prior to their sales.
3. Revenue from any other services provided and inputs supplied
The resource/collection centre can generate revenue of Nrs 900-1800 (approx.) on each live goat
transacted. Annually on a transaction of 1000 goats can generate revenue of Nrs 0.9M to 1.8M,
sufficient to cover the operation cost and strengthening of the cooperative an entrepreneur.
The farmers shall receive the fair Nrs 300/- on the live weight of the goats purchased by the
cooperative. The cooperative shall also display on their notice board on prevailing prices.
MANAGEMENT
The board members of the cooperative shall be the decision makers to operating guidelines of the
resource/collection centre. A manager supported by the team shall be responsible live goats
transacted, bookkeeping, shed management and reconditioning of the goats and other regular
operations of the resource/collection centre.
