opportunities, and that they feel they're having a meaningful impact and are
contributing to the good of society. As a world, we're doing a better job of that.
Larry Page
Managers are tasked to lead their organization to success. Good management
brings about order and consistency by drawing up formal plans, consistent layouts
and monitoring results against plans. While leaders exercise influence in a more
informal and unstructured manner, managers occupy formal decision-making
positions in the organization. We can take a look at the different success stories of
different CEO towards effective management within their company.
Principles to effective management
Leadership is a very important quality of being a manager. Leadership is not innate
towards every manager in an organization. Leaders direct people towards a goal or
an end result. Every organization has their own goals depending on the needs
within their industry. Every leader should always stick to the goal their organization
aims to achieve. Effective managers focus on their people, not the process. This
gives opportunities to reaching the employees full potential and the organizations
success.
A good leader should be adept in delegating the tasks and responsibilities to its
subordinates. In every organization, each worker has their specific role. One main
reason of why an employee leaves a company is that they dont feel like they
belong with the organization. Managers should point out that every employees
tasks and duties are important and meaningful. Managers should value the worth of
their employees and acknowledge that they are significant to the development of
the company.
Managers are tasked to motivate their employees in order to successfully achieve
the goals of the company. The purpose of giving rewards is to attract, retain and
motivate employees. Motivated employees are more likely to perform well.
Employees with repetitive work load are more likely to get frustrated or leave the

organization for other career opportunities and growth. As a manager in an

organization, their task is to retain top talents that can perform each job assigned to
them. Managers should set challenging but realistic goals, reinforce desired
behaviors, satisfy employees needs, provide performance-contingent rewards that
people value, design jobs that are interesting and provide opportunities for
incumbents to use their talents.1 Leaders within an organization should push their
employees to the best of their abilities in order to get the expected outcome.
Communication is an integral piece towards the development of any kind of
relationship whether personal, business or professional. Being a strong communicator is
a good way for managers to earn trust quickly between subordinates. This is not limited to
the employee and manager relationship but to all other levels of the organization
directly involved with the business unit.
As a manager, they should assert their emphasis towards its employees while
respecting their needs and rights. A good leader is also a good listener because
they develop employees and managers frame messages to meet the need of the
intended audience. Good communication breaks down barriers and creates interdependency
within people. This improves strong relationships and builds workplace alliance promoting
teamwork and consensus.

their workers, not over-manage them. He wants managers to understand the whole

the business better. Lastly, he learned from his experiences, that is why it is
important for him to reflect about past experiences. He stated that it is a life-long
process in which he can get the best out of every situation when he was able to pick
up something new from it.

Consequence in the Absence of Effective Management

In a stage of business cycle, there will always a potential threat that could affect the
flow of a business. Most of the cases that cause an organization or company to
close are because of poor management by its leaders.
Without strong character attributes encompassing ethics, a leader cannot
effectively lead without the trust, confidence, and loyalty required by
employees.2 Leaders within a company should have a strong character that would
reflect their will towards decision making. He should also be consistent with his
attitude towards his subordinates so that he can create trust and confidence with
them. It is important for a leader to win the trust, confidence and loyalty of your
employees in order for you to retain top talents available and execute your plan.
Every organization has a clear mission and vision towards the path of success that
they wish to achieve. If the leaders will not align its work character towards the path
that company wants, problems and chaos will arise. Poor communication of the
mission and vision of the company towards its employees and subordinates can
lead to confusion. The target and strategies will not be attained according to plan.
The job of a manager is to recruit, mentor, deploy and retain top management
talent within a company. If the management team is not getting the job done, it is
not a management problem rather it is the fault of executive leadership 3. It should
be noted that if leadership will fail, it follows that the company will follow as well.
