1 Maya goes silent
An era might come to a close on December
21, 2012. This date is said to mark the
completion of the 5,125-year Great Cycle of
theAncient Maya calendar. Perhaps, it signals
the end of maya (or illusion) for humanity,
rather than the end of the world itself.
2 Dragon roars aloud
The Chinese Zodiac foresees 2012 as the
Year of Water Dragon. Balance might get
restored in the world, as compassion (water)
calms aggression (dragons fire). Symbolising

a mix of power and mystery, the dragon can give a

sense of unpredictability.
3 Increasingly swift changes
2012 adds up to 5 (=2+0+1+2), which is the number of
planet Mercury. Mercury signifies the energy of speed,
change, intelligence, and communication. No wonder
there are uprisings across the world pointing to a
socio-economic waking-up process.
4 Advent of Krishna
The Vedic Year Nandanam, as part of a 60-year cycle,
commences during 2012.

8 Sun flares up
In 2012, Earth could be in the midst of a solar maximum. During such a cycle, there is an incidence of
solar flares which can possibly disrupt electrical
