INTERVIEW SKILLS
DONT PIN YOUR HOPES ON HOPE I hope nobody asks
me that. Prepare answers to the worst three
questions you anticipate getting. Practice them
out loud.
1. Tell me something about yourself (Dont bore the other
person, make it sharp and specific and BE PREPARED)

PROJECT/INTERNSHIP
1. What was your last project/internship?
The best person for the job does not necessarily win itoften
its the person who gives the best interview.
Interviews are more than just giving technically correct
answers. Theyre also very much about building rapport.
Not all interviewers know what theyre doing; your job is to
know how to handle the good and bad interviewer.
Its better to be honest and admit ignorance than try to
pretend you know an answer and come across as
disingenuous and less than bright.
Good looking people win jobsmaybe in Hollywood movies,
but on the whole, employers are keen to hire talent over
superficial factors.
Striving to give the perfect answer can get you into trouble.
Its better to give a good answer thats to the point rather
than searching for perfection; besides, often theres no such
thing as the perfect answer.
Do not ask questions for the sake of it. Only ask a question if
you have a genuine query that has not been covered.
Interviews are formal occasions requiring relatively formal
behaviors.
Interviewers do not spend all their time looking for your flaws.
Theyre more interested in getting an overall picture of who you
are. Avoid answering questions defensively. Its much better to
see every question as an opportunity to highlight your best points
SELF REFLECTION-
WORDS OF WISDOM
The following extracts are from a discussion on ET Channel this
month where the top bosses of various companies were
answering questions of the winners of the Young Leadership
Program.
intelligence.
The biggest mistake you can make is lack the ability to learn from
others.
Comfort Zone-A rocket targeted for space has to get out of the
comfort of being on the ground. If you want to pitch higher get
out of your comfort zone .If you are not happy with your job get
out of. Have the courage and conviction to quit else shut up!
Happiness-I love what I am doing. I have been in the FMCG sector
for 6 years and I have enjoyed every bit of it. I realize I belong
here; its about being happy and feeling good. So, for this
happiness if I have to give up some part of my personal or
professional life I am willing to do it.
Values-Do have and Donts are not the same for every company.
They have to be created. But values will always be the same.
Have value systems in place
Cynics believe that values are a frill, an add on and Nice to
have. My experience has been that values are the bedrock on
which you build and sustain a business
Money-is important. Todays generation is more money minded
than the earlier one. However, if you want to be a holistic leader
then some element of you has to work towards a better society
a better nation. To be a respected leader you have to think of a
better society, you have to think of nation building. Maybe now,
maybe 5 years from now. Some amount of greed is good. To make
a difference and get recognized you need balance. A person with
a Broader Perspective is likely to succeed.
