Purok 5, Communal, Buhangin, Davao City May 22 24, 2014 STATEMENT OF THE 10th MARIST MISSION CONGRESS New Marists in Mission: Gathering Around the Fire Mindful of our call to Holiness and Mission, we, the participants of the Marist Mission Congress 2014 reaffirm our Marist identity and charism, as we share in the evangelizing mission of the church. In our reflections, we JOYFULLY proclaim JESUS CHRIST and witness the GOSPEL in our daily lives- in our family, workplaces and neighborhoods as we address issues and realities such as secularism, materialism, consumerism, individualism, relativism, careerism, spiritual worldliness. We humbly acknowledge the need to continuously revitalize our ROLE AS MARIST EVANGELIZERS in the implementation of our respective core programs as we journey together WITH OTHERS in living out our common CALL to be Missionary Disciples as New Marists in Mission Gathering Around the Fire. Discerning on the mission that our Lord, Jesus Christ, entrusted to us, we commit to: Organize creative catechetical activities that draw out personal encounter of Christ that leads to personal and societal conversion; Strengthen our participation in the various ministries of the local church; Work for the renewal and strengthening of our Lay Formation Program; Intensify the promotion of Catholic life that faithfully seeks to spread the joy, life and love of God in the classroom, family and community; Participate in the activities toward the total transformation of society by addressing cultural, religious, ecological, political, economic issues according to the teaching of the Church; Promote and defend the dignity of life and all systems that support it; Strengthen structures of collaboration and sense of volunteerism among Marist schools and non-school ministries, partner agencies, peoples organizations, local church and communities to continually address the needs of the poor; Pursue the initiatives of the K to 12 program; Pursue the initiatives undertaken on the following commitments to the 9 th Marist Mission Congress: Sustain and intensify the spirituality of dialogue with cultures, religious traditions and with the peoples of Asia especially the poor; and Continue our effort in addressing issues and concerns of the least favored in society, indigenous peoples, women, children and other marginalized groups. Experiencing the profound love of Jesus, burning within us, we constantly pray that may the Holy Spirit guide us always as we humbly translate our life of holiness and righteousness by embracing a loving, humble, and joyful missionary heart like that of the Blessed Mother and St. Marcellin.
