c. Presentation
Class since we have learned what nouns are,
we will go deep into nouns. We will now learn
about the classification of nouns.
d. Discussion
As what you can see on the board, there are
two columns which are composed of the
different nouns that we got from the paragraph
we have read. Does anyone have any idea why There are two columns because
they are grouped according to
are they in two columns and not one?
Very good. This means that nouns are classification.
classified into two groups. What can you
observe from the first column that is different
from the second column?

Correct. In the first column the words begin

with a small letter. And this is the first
classification of nouns, we call them, common
nouns.
Common nouns name persons, animals,
places, or things in general. Like the words in
the first column. Can you give some examples
of your own?
What can you say about the second column?
Good observation. Yes, in the second column
the words begin with a capital letter, this
second classification of nouns is known as
proper nouns. Proper nouns name particular
persons, animals, places, or things. Like the
words in the second column. Can anyone give
some examples?
For instance, the word shoes, is a common
noun, since it does not give a specific name of
what shoes. But, if we say, Gibi or Vans, we
now call those words as proper nouns.
Do you have any question before I continue?
Very well. I have here more examples of
proper nouns, give your examples.
