Spring/Summer 2017 Lifestyle Trend Book

Introduction
As humans we occupy multiple spaces on a daily basis.
We operate in the physical spaces of our homes, offices and
favorite places. Digitally, we operate online through our
phones, computers and wearable technology.
In Spring/Summer 2017 the world will focus on the
separation of these spaces.
Lost In Spaces is about these different moments in our
lives. It represents moments of deep interaction with new
technologies that allow us to transcend the barriers of
reality. Moments that provide a sense of peace with nature
as our spiritual guide. And moments marked by a renewed
sense of purpose and exploration.

Key Influencers

Andrew McMahon has been

in the music industry for
nearly 14 years, viewing music
as his mirror to the adventure
of living. A somewhat new
venture, Andrew McMahon
in the Wilderness was created
when McMahon moved to a
cabin in the Topanga Canyon.
His debut album beckons
listeners to explore a connection
with nature as a method of
giving a deeper meaning to
the world around them.

In 1999 The Matrix introduced

the idea of virtual reality.
Thomas A. Anderson was a
man living between both a
real and an artificial world
run by robots, machines and
technology.

In the 1970s Dick Hayne

opened the first Free People
store in West Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. Haynes goal
was to assist young people
in expressing their freedom
through the clothes they wore.

Sofia Coppola is an actress,

producer, screenwriter and
director. Her most notable
works include 1993s The
Virgin Suicides and 2003s
Lost in Translation.

TomorrowLand is one of the

largest electronic music festivals
in the world. TomorrowLand
presents visitors with a very
surreal, psychedelic and futuristic
vibe.

As virtual reality gains

popularity there are predictions
that it could create a feeling
similar to The Matrix, where
people can live and experience
an entirely artificial world but
feel as though it is true reality.

Free People aims to reach

women in in all aspects of
who she is, from carefree and
adventurous to romantic and
tough. Free People embodies
the spirit of the Seventies and
its role in society today.

Lost in Translation tells the

story of two American strangers
struggling to understand each
other and their new home in
Tokyo. The film touches on the
themes of loneliness, isolation
and a search to find meaning
in life.

With themes like Alice in

Wonderland and a Church of
Love, TomorrowLand invites
people to not only enjoy music,
but also to be transported
into a different, more carefree
world for a weekend.

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes

in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow mature
in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward or fix us in the present. We are
made up of layers, cells, constellations.
-Anais Nin-

Translucence
In an age where technology and
information are ever present,
humans are seeking their own
truths by searching for meaning in
what lies beneath.

Breaking the
barriers
New technologies have
made creating nearly
limitless, embracing new
dimensions and techniques.

What is real? How do you define real? If youre talking about

what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and
see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.
-The Matrix-

Virtual reality
As virtual and augmented reality
become mainstream, reality has been
redefined by the ability to transcend
barriers of space and time.

Cosmic exploration
Curiosity with what lies beyond
Earth is heightened by the slow
introduction of space tourism and
continued space exploration.

Life has no meaning the moment you lose the illusion of being eternal.
-Jean Paul Sartre-

Existentialism
With commitment to organized
religion slowly falling to the wayside
people are finding spirituality through
a connection to the natural world.

Wayfarer
At times burdened by
technology, humans seek
to disconnect and create
memorable experiences
through travel.

Bohemian revival
Humans are becoming more
comfortable in their own skin
and reconnecting with elements
of fashion reminiscent of the
1960s and 1970s.

Christiania
Humans work to create a world
worth living in, taking time to care
for others and living in perfect unison
with Mother Nature. Disconnected
from traditional politics, people are
fighting for change on their own.

Purposeful intentions
Workforces are finding their passions
renewed as they strive to make their
work more meaningful. Big businesses
mimic this by using their companies to
achieve a greater mission.

Lost in
translation
Both connected and isolated by
technology, humans must make
an increased effort to have
genuine communication in all
aspects of their lives.
