PROPOSAL FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE

RESEARCH NETWORK

OBJECTIVE
The Research Network is a mechanism for participation, cooperation and coordination
between regional research centers of the Countries, seeking to strengthen scientific
capacity around themes that are relevant from a regional perspective. This will promote
the interconnection between the abovementioned network and government institutions
responsible for the subject nationally.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
a) Generate knowledge for regional decision making;
b) Exchange scientific knowledge on natural resources to define policies to
promote sustainable development of the region, at the level;
c) Create opportunities for the promotion of information, to strengthen national and
regional initiatives to generate information;
d) Consolidate spaces to validate and update the production of knowledge through
different mechanisms;
e) Promote mechanisms for mobility and academic growth of the region, allowing
opportunities for students, teachers and researchers;
f)

Establish a network of researchers in studies, at the regional level.

FUNCTIONS
a) Promote the establishment, if possible, of a scientific, technological and
innovation policy, and in accordance with the objectives of the Cooperation;
b)

Implement joint regional research programs;

c) Manage knowledge and exchange of information for the identification of plant,

animal and microbial species to stimulate didactic knowledge and teaching
based on the observation and research of environmental resources, seeking the
creation of a live laboratory;
d)

Promote applied research aimed at the climate change adaptation ;

e) Stimulate research to identify and exchange technologies for generating and

consuming sustainable energies to the region;
f)

Promote the exchange of information on applied scientific development to

facilitate the expansion and diversification of research, knowledge and scientific
findings that provide solutions to identified common problems;

g) Facilitate the exchange of knowledge, information and best practices that

research institutions have developed in the Member Countries;
h) Facilitate the advance of integrated research on common themes through the
exchange of human talents;

Promote the exchange of scientific knowledge for sustainable development;

j)

Feed the Regional with scientific information and analysis on the region;

k) Promote from national offers the organization of training and short-term

specialization courses in issues related to the agreed topics, based on offers
from Member Countries;
l)

Promote mechanisms for mobility and academic growth of the region, allowing
exchange of opportunities for researchers, teachers and students taking in
consideration national capacity building offers.
