Fabric Layouts:
Preparing:
Interfacing- Fuse interfacing to WRONG SIDE of each corresponding Main Fabric pieces.
Fuse the Piece A stabilizer centered overtop the interfaced Piece A Bottom Main Fabric.
2. Draw a diagonal line from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. Pin pieces together and sew across the line
making sure to backstitch at the beginning and end. Trim to 1/4 seam allowance on outside of stitched line. Press the
seam open.
3. Fuse the Piece G interfacing piece you cut to wrong side.
4. With the WRONG SIDES TOGETHER fold a strap piece in half lengthwise and press to create a crease then open.
5. Now fold each edge towards center crease and press. Fold in half and press again.
6. Top Stitch across both long sides about 1/8 from edge.
STRAP CONNECTOR:
7. Cut a 2 piece from the finished strap.
8. Slip the D ring onto 2 piece you just cut. Fold in half matching the raw edges and having the ring at the fold. Stitch
across the connector piece as close to the ring as possible.
3. Take the Piece B- Side Panel Main Fabric and place RIGHT SIDE UP. Place the finished Piece C Accent Band on top
RIGHT SIDE UP (folded in edges down) 2 above the bottom raw edge of the Side Panel. Pin in place.
4. Edge stitch with 1/8 seam allowance across the top and bottom of the Accent Band to attach.
3. Press the seam open, turn RIGHT SIDE OUT and press well to flatten the seam.
Your finished outside piece will now resemble a cylinder.
Baste the D-ring piece you just made to Piece A Main Fabric Bottom by matching the raw edges of the D-ring
piece with the raw edge of the Bottom piece and stitching in place.
6. Pin or clip the Bottom (Piece A) to the bottom of the Side Panel you just completed RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER, easing
the two pieces together to completely pin or clip the Bottom to the Exterior Side Panel all the way around. Align the dring with the seam on Piece B-Exterior Main panel.
NOTE: It is best to pin or clip every or so to help hold everything in place as you sew around the bottom.
7. Sew all the way around the bottom against the stabilizer piece with seam allowance to attach the Bottom Panel to
the Finished Exterior.
8. Trim the seam allowance down to and turn RIGHT SIDES OUT. Press well around the bottom seam to flatten.
Outside of the bag is done!
7
4. Lay the Piece F Pocket Vinyl piece with longest side facing up. Fold the finished Piece D bias over the edge of the vinyl,
encasing the top edge within the folded bias.
5. Stitch the Bias Tape in place with a 1/8 seam across the bottom edge.
4. Dividing the Pockets: Divide the pocket panel as you desire by sewing vertical lines down the pocket panel; through all
of the layers. Backstitch several times at the beginning and end of the line to reinforce.
Set Aside.
NOTE: The interior lining is assembled in the same manner as you completed the outside of the bag on pages 78 you can follow the same diagrams on these pages.
10
3. Fold the finished Interior Piece B in half matching the two short sides RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER. Clip short raw edges
together.
4. Sew down the clipped edge with seam allowance.
Adding the bottom Piece A Main Fabric
5. Keep your finished piece WRONG SIDE OUT.
6. Clip the Finished Bottom Piece to the bottom of the Side Panel you just completed RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER, easing the
two pieces together to completely clip the Bottom to the Interior Side Panel all the way around.
NOTE: It is best to clip every or so to help hold everything in place as you sew around the bottom.
7. Sew all the way around the bottom with seam allowance to attach the Bottom Panel to the Finished Interior.
8. Trim the seam allowance down to and keep the piece WRONG SIDE OUT.
Inside of the bag is done!
11
You should now have 4 marked lines on each side as shown in the above diagram.
4. Fold the piece in half lengthwise (short sides), RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER, matching the short raw edges and aligning the
marks you made on both sides and keeping the seam in the center.
From the top sew down to the first mark with a seam allowance backstitching when you start and when you reach
the mark.
Start stitching again at the second mark to the third mark, again backstitching at the beginning and when you reach the
mark.
Stitch again from the fourth mark to the bottom of the piece backstitching when you start at the mark and when you
reach the end.
Your top panel will now be a circle and you will have an opening to add the drawstring. Press open the seam you just
created and turn RIGHT SIDE OUT.
5. Fold the piece in half with the center long seam now at the top of the piece. WRONG SIDES TOGETHER.
You will now have a piece that measures 3 with long seam at the top and the raw edges at the bottom with RIGHT
SIDES of the fabric on both the front and back of the band.
Topstitch all the way around the Piece (circle) at the fold (raw edges are the bottom and seam at the top) away from
the top seam.
Now we will finish making the drawstring opening and make a stitch line to aid in folding up the raw edges to
on the bottom of the piece:
6. With a removable fabric pen mark a line all the way round the piece 1 up from the bottom.
Mark another line all the way around the piece 1 up from the bottom.
Mark a third line 2 up from the bottom.
7. Sew around the piece on each line you just created. You will now have 4 stitched lines around the Top Panel (this
includes the topstitching around the top of the piece you did in Step 5).
NOTE: Do not sew through the layers but rather around the circle piece you created.
12
8. Fold the raw edges on both sides of the band towards the bottom stitched line, all the way around and press.
This will allow you to not have any raw edges at on your finished bag.
After both raw edges on the front and back of the band are folded up you will now have an opening to attach to
the finished bottom pieces. Top Panel Piece is now finished.
13
You are enclosing the top raw edges of the bottom of the bag between the front and back folded edges at the
bottom of the top panel piece.
3. Pin in place; placing the pins horizontally across the piece close to the bottom stitched line on the top panel so that
you do not make holes in your clear vinyl piece.
4. Stitch around the assembled piece to attach the top panel to the bottom about above the bottom of the top panel.
For the Carry Strap:
1. Thread the drawstring though the drawstring opening making sure to keep both ends even.
14
2. Thread both pieces through the trigger snap side by side, making sure the pieces are not twisted and both lay flat
RIGHT SIDES UP after threading though the trigger snap.
Note: You can shorten the straps at this point for a custom length by simply pulling the raw ends up and cutting
excess off.
3. Make sure the end of the straps go past the D ring of the trigger snap by at least an inch. Fold back the ends of each
to enclose the raw edges.
4. Keep the strap pieces side by side and sew across both several times to secure to the trigger snap.
5. Connect the trigger snap to the d-ring on bottom of bag to finish the carry straps.
Your bag is now complete and ready for you to fill with all your ditties!
