Dear Sir/Madam,

People say one does not get to choose his/her profession, but he/she is chosen by it. However, my case
was particular, since, starting with my years in primary school, I seemed to have a clear idea in mind
of what my future was going to look like. Therefore, the answer I gave to the generic "What do you
want to do when you grow up?" was a firm "I want to be a teacher!". And things did not change later
on, not even in college. Having studied in an English-bilingual Philology class in high school, it
seemed only logical to continue my education with the courses offered by the Faculty of Letters, the
English-Romanian Language and Literature department, which I graduated as a Valedictorian. From
this point to a career as a teacher there was just a small step, some further examinations that I was
extremely successful in, and here I am, a woman with a dream came true.
My first two years as a teacher were very challenging. First of all, I had to commute from a city to a
village 40 km away due to the shortage of open positions in the area. Secondly, I had to follow in
parallel my MA courses at the University in the afternoon, where I learned about translation studies, a
field I have always been passionate about. However, I will always remember this period as the
brightest and most fulfilling in my life, the one in which I really felt I was making a difference for my
students. Although having to focus on two things at the same time meant a great deal of effort and
energy invested, the satisfaction felt was unparalleled. At this school I got to teach both English and
Romanian to students aged 6 to 15, and I was also a form tutor. Meanwhile, I also got my Permanent
Teacher Certification which is the most important diploma that ensures a teachers status for a lifetime.
After finishing my MA studies, I moved to a different city and took another exam for a teaching
position. Once again, the results were great, I had the biggest grade, and I could opt for which school I
wanted in the area. Even though it was something different, starting with the city, the school, the
colleagues and the students, I soon felt like I belonged there. My students were once again of various
ages, from kindergarten to secondary school, and my job here was to teach English and also be a form
tutor. I have been working in this school since September 2014.
As time passed by and I gained experience, three years of teaching more precisely, I became more
aware of the fact that I was meant to do this, I was meant to teach, to inspire children, to enlighten
their minds. Every time, class after class, I saw smiles on their faces as they were enjoying studying
under my guidance. Songs, dances, videos, images, worksheets, all these made our English or
Romanian classes fun, exciting, interesting. I taught my students, but I also learned from them. I

learned to be spontaneous, creative, energetic, playful, open-minded, I learned to keep the child inside
me alive.
Next step in my career would be teaching in a school in the UK, the motherland of the English
language. I feel I am qualified to be working in such a motivating environment and I am convinced I
would make a difference wherever I am to live and teach, as I will never leave aside my passion for
the job, my love for children and my ambition to evolve.
Having been contacted in the view of becoming a member of your institutions educational staff, I
believe this position would bring generous benefits to both me and the Romanian students. Firstly,
teaching English in your school would mean gaining valuable experience in terms of UK curriculum,
improving and perfecting my professional skills and testing my ability to adapt my teaching style to
meet the needs of a different learning environment. Secondly, the Romanian students would definitely
find it a lot easier to cope with the new language and all the school requirements as long as they will
be guided by a teacher who speaks their mother tongue. Being so well accustomed to the Romanian
school system and teaching methods, having 3 years of experience in teaching, having always found it
particularly enjoyable to work with children, I am fully convinced that I would be extremely helpful in
the process of integrating these Romanian children in the school community.
Last but not least, I am convinced I possess some of the most valuable qualities a teacher and mentor
should give proof of. My conduct beyond reproach, my professionalism in approaching the learning
process, the students and their parents as well, my enthusiasm and ambition, doubled by the energy
and creativity specific for my age, all these recommend me for the position I am applying for. In
addition, the instant connection based on mutual sympathy and affection that I and my students
develop should only pinpoint once more that you have already found what you were looking for in my
person.
Thank you for your time spent considering this application and I look forward to giving you all the
details necessary in a future interview.
Yours sincerely,
