Prayer Points

Peace in South
Sudan!

God to equip board/

staff

My health

Our students to grow

in the knowledge of
His will for their lives

Continued seeking God

and growth in our
hearts for the things of
God in 2015!

It seems I have kept my sense of

humor during this battle.
Chemotherapy is finished and I start
daily radiation the 2nd week in
October.
Im ready for it to be over so I can
gain my strength back.
Chris, my best friend since 7th
grade, and her family took me with
them on their Disney World
vacation. I am able to do 1/2 days
and rest a lot.
So I am writing this from the Magic
Kingdom. I am having fun!

The 20 weeks of chemo was

actually 23 weeks because
some side effects caused me to
skip 3 weeks and rest my body.

I expect the next 3 surgeries to be

in Fall of 2016. The first will be
the second mastectomy and the
beginning of reconstruction.

I am feeling encouraged about

treatment. I dont know what
the doctors say about the prognosis, I just know that God has
given me hope for a future back
in South Sudan.

I hope to make 3 trips to South

Sudan before the surgeries next
fall. This will increase our
expenses, so please consider some
extra giving.

Once treatment is done, I am

hoping to rest a month then take
a 6 week trip to WoH South
Sudan. I can only travel for six
weeks at a time because the
port under the skin in my chest
- access for chemo and surgeries, needs to be flushed.
While the advisory board is
doing a great job keeping current programs going with the
help of my twice weekly phone
calls, it is important for me to
be there. I need to meet with
many local officials to ensure
that the ministry is viable and
making a difference in lives
around us.
We are expecting 3 groups of
visitors in January and my
prayer is to be there to host
them!

HOW TO HELP!
I personally need your
love! You have been so
great at this so far.
Keep it up!!!

Give me a call or plan a

visit if you are in Spokane. Seeing your faces
makes me happy! You
are not bothering me.

Pray for the staff and

board of WoH to make
wise and God-directed
decisions.

Pray for my healing,

quick recovery and that I
glorify His name!

Increase your monthly

giving!

Current Needs!

Prayer for quick recovery

from radiation
I want to be able to travel well.

Thank you all, once again for

your faithful prayers and for
giving to WoH and me. I tend
to not worry because our God
can do all things through all of
you, and He does.

Even on this recent trip, I took

the bump off an over-booked
flight and received a $700
voucher toward my next trip.

This is about 1/2 to 1/3 of the

ticket to Africa, depending on
current prices.
Thank you in advance for your
continued encouragement and
support. Your prayers carry me!
With all my heart I thank you!

Love, Amanda

Food Distribution to Elderly!

Happy to receive assistance!

It has been a pleasure to

distribute the container of food
donated by World Emergency
Relief (WER).
The last distribution has been to
the underserved population of
rural elderly living alone or
raising grandchildren.
As WoH has been helping those
in need of extra food it has been
a real blessing to the WoH staff
to help the most underserved
populations in our area.

Grandfathers grateful for food!

Updates on Mercy!!
Mercy has had her biopsy, the tumor is not malignant! Praise God!
She has a cavernous hemangioma,
a type of blood vessel malformation where a collection of dilated
blood vessels form a tumor. The
risk with this tumor is excessive
bleeding when operated on.
She has had 3 surgeries and will
soon have her 4th. The doctors are
removing the tumor conservatively.
Pray for young Mercy to remain
strong, she has been very brave so
far.

Buildings are Roof-ready!

While I am Stateside, activity continues at the Wings
of Healing compound. As I reported in our last newsletter bricks were made and the construction is
happening as Johnson balances between children
needing surgery, food distributions and construction.
The shipping container of relief food was delivered
last October and we purchased the container, through
generous donations, to give us much needed secure
storage.
Our original garage was made from teak poles. Over
the last few years the weather and termites have
caused weakening of the structure. A new more
stable and long-lasting structure made of bricks is the
current project.

Multipurpose building

The Multipurpose building will be a place for teaching, praise and worship, assembling for meetings and
even serve as a dining hall when needed.
What we do need now is the ability to buy the solar
equipment necessary to run projectors, computers, a
television for displays and fans for our hot days.
The quote to buy the solar equipment is $5231.62.
This is just the purchase price. We have to pay 18%
tax in Uganda and 10% to bring the equipment into
South Sudan, about $1,465.
This brings the equipment total near $6,700.
We must also raise funds for cement, plastering,
paint, doors, windows and furniture. This will
mean an additional $5000 at the least.
We are asking you all to join us to raise this money
and to be a part of Building a New Nation.

Garage, sitting area and container awaiting a roof!

Would you fundraise to help us meet these goals!

Florence to Have 3rd Surgery

Florence started medical treatment of the osteomyelitis
(infected bones) in her right foot almost 2 years ago.
She has had 2 surgeries to correct the infection in her foot
and now she will have her foot straightened so she can walk.

We pray that after the surgery

and recovery, Florence may
become one of our scholarship
students.

Continue to pray for her and the grandmother that is raising

her!

She is a bright and delightful

girl and I know she will become
an amazing woman if given the
chance to grow and be directed.

Johnson will take them In October to CorSU hospital in

Uganda. They have done the previous operations and are
encouraged that she will soon walk normally!

This has been the hardest thing I have ever done, leaving what I had known as
home to return to the USA to fight cancer.
In so many ways I have been blessed during this struggle. One of the biggest
blessings has been the cards, letters and gifts sent by all of you. This helps me
know I am not in this alone. Thank you for demonstrating Christ to me.

Finally, all of you, have unity of mind, sympathy,

brotherly love, a tender heart and a humble mind.
1 Peter 3:8

I have grown more dependent on Him as I move through this time. He is my rock
and my strong tower, my refuge in times of need. Psalm 61 and Psalm 91 have
given me comfort during times of doubt and fear.

Sponsored School Children!!

Board members and staff; Johnson Musisi, Scopus, Pastor

Amo, Pastor Abraham, Sunday Betty and 10 of 12 students.
For over 2 years you have
been Helping to Build a
Nation through student
sponsorship. Three of these
students have entered their
3rd year of sponsorship.
They are committed and we
are excited to see them
grow into adults with
knowledge and wisdom.
There are 3 boys and 9 girls.
All come from families
where the father and/or the mother are not involved. Without you and WoH these
children, especially the older girls, would find it impossible to pay for their education. Pray for our kids, they are the future of South Sudan!!!
