Dear Friend,
Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and from everyone at
our church. We give thanks to God for all the wonderful things He has done!
There is a beautiful passage of Scripture in John 1: 10-13 that says, "He was
in the world, and the world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He
came unto His own, but His own received Him not. But to as many as received
Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God." As I read this portion of Scripture today, many
thoughts flooded my mind about our Lord Jesus. In a society that continually pushes
God away and then blames God for abandoning us when trouble comes, we read
here that God did not abandon us at all! Our heavenly Father, who created the world
and formed man from the dust of the ground, actually came into our world and dwelt
among us, though we didn't recognize Him at the time. He came to His own but they
didn't receive Him."But as many as received Him..." Not a different religion or
ministry, not a fresh face or special personality, not a new type of worship that isn't
worship at all: it says, "But to as many as received Him..." Jewish, Gentile,
Catholic, Protestant: it is not what system of faith you choose, but it is receiving
Jesus Christ, the author and finisher of our faith! Only Jesus died for our sins on the
cross. When God looks at us, He sees us through His Son Jesus Christ. Will you
received Him? If you do, He will give you power, or authority, to become a son or
daughter of God! He becomes "Our Father, which art in heaven" (Matthew 6:9).
My parents did an amazing job of raising us five children. They both worked is
order to provide for us (over 50 years later we're still kicking and twitching!). They
made sure we were in church (and involved) every Sunday. But one day I had to
come to a personal decision on receiving Christ the Savior on my own. I may have
faltered and stumbled a few times along the way, but the fact remains, I received
"Him." He has shown me the path of life, which has no darkness or shadiness in it at
all. I was born into a wonderful family, but I needed to be born again, "not of blood,
nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." And now that I am
a father, I had to teach my children make that same decision. I was their hero for a

long time until they matured and they became born again. Now Jesus is their hero
and I couldn't be happier. Of all their successes, I am most pleased with their
decision to serve the Lord. That choice has been tried. They have gone through a lot
of changes, but the Lord has never changed! He is the Rock of their salvation, just as
He has been the Rock of my salvation. He has been their burden-bearer, just as He
has been my burden-bearer. When they have felt all alone, He has been their best
friend, just as He has been my best friend. My wife always told them that no matter
what, always choose Jesus and you will never go wrong! And that is true.
You may think He isn't interested in being in your life. With all due respect,
that simply is not true. He died on the cross for all of us, to take away all our sins.
The Bible says that by the grace of God He tasted death for every man. He has a
vested interest in every person who has ever lived: including you! Is salvation only
for a select group of people? Yes: to as many as received Him. The choice is yours
alone. He provides but we choose. My parents provided the food, but I had to choose
to eat it. If I didn't eat it I went hungry. Was it gourmet? Sometimes. Was it always
good for me? Yes. Was it extravagant? Not always. But it was always what I needed
and it was the best they could do. Do I have any regrets? Absolutely not! I gladly
received their provisions and am alive to tell the story! If you receive Jesus Christ
into your spirit, into your innermost being, you shall live. It's as simple as that. He is
full of grace and truth. Truth transcends belief and personal opinions. You could
believe a lie and be wrong and not even know it. But I know Jesus is the way, the
truth, and the life because He rose from the dead. He confirmed that everything He
taught was true when He rose from the dead. That settled any question there was! I
know He rose from the dead because the moment I received Him as my Lord and
Savior He forgave me of my sins and lifted that burden off my life. The guilt of all
my sins and transgressions and the wrong way I responded to some situations was
wiped clean and I became a new creature: just like Jesus said it would happen! If
you haven't received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the Scriptures ask one
question, "And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away
thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord" (Acts 22:16).
We extend an invitation to you to come to church and worship the Lord with
us. We are located at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT. Our schedule of
services is Sunday at 10 AM and 7 PM and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. May God bless
you "more abundantly" today and always!
Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
