About Customs Charges in India for TV

Hi All,
I am planning to buy a TV and take it to India next month.
Could any one please advise the customs charges for taking a TV to India.
I heard for TV upto a particular size are exempted from customs charges. Please clarify.
Please let me know where we can obtain the latest information.

All LED's are charged duty @30% + some cess to be paid. I took one 42" LED which was
assessed as worth 30,000 Rs and I had to pay a duty of 10,850 Rs. This was on 12th June
2015.

i took a "SHARP" 39 inch LED from Q8. at the Bombay customs i was asked to produce the
receipt of purchase from Q8. I paid 100 kd for the TV here, and was charged 8000 INR as
customs duty.

@GC- TV s larger than 32" require special permission from airport authorities because these
TV's are sent to the Aircraft directly without sending through the conveyor. You require two
stickers and one police clearance paper to do this. Take your TV alone to the DGCA office
(which is on your right side of emigration/security que- behind Al Jazeera counters, terminal
4) If you need help, hire one Bengali, with 1KD he will get it done. After pasting sticker from
DGCA office, you will be guided to another counter at terminal 4 itself, where a police
clearance paper in Arabic will be given with your aircraft no, date etc; and another sticker will
be pasted on the carton. Take it to the airlines counter and they will send it to special
services counter, from where it will be sent to the aircraft directly. All this procedure you can
complete hours before you go to check in.

Why don't you buy it online in India (such as snapdeal, flipcart, ebay...). Sometimes you get
discounted price online and item will be delivered to your home free of shipping charge.

I took Sharp 40 Inch LED to Mumbay airport in May this year, the customs charged Rs. 7,250
as duty. Procedure is easy. In Kuwait, a Bangladeshi porter accompanied me to do all civil
aviation procedure without any hassle .

Better to buy from ebay... there you will get with same price and dealer warranty. if you are
taking from here to india , you wont get warranty.

Thanks for the suggestion, I found few deals on ebay and flipkart, which are nearly 4000
rupees cheaper compared to Kuwait.
But, does anybody have experience claiming warranty for these online purchases. Is it
trustworthy? How does it actually work?

@GJ, last year i bought a LG 3D TV in snapdeal with good offer.

Up to delivery only its snapdeal, rest of the installation, training done by LG guys. The
warranty is from the company for the specified period with the offer.
Its same for other online shopping portals like ebay, flipkart, etc

I took 32" Panasonic LED to trivandrum on last week of May 2015 without any custums duty.
No one asked me to pay custums duty at Trivandrum Airport. I saw many people have TVs
and no one paid. I heard that rule is already withdrawn. Please make sure the rule is still
there or not. This is my experience.
