Chorus
For all He's done for me,
Redeemed and set me free,
And because, just because He's God.

Verse 2
When I come into His presence
I humble myself,
Remembering what He's done,
The victories He's won,

Unison Scriptures
PSALM 34:1-10 (nRSV)

I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise

shall continually be in my mouth. 2My soul
makes its boast in the Lord; let the humble
hear and be glad. 3O magnify the Lord with
me, and let us exalt his name together. 4I
sought the Lord, and he answered me, and
delivered me from all my fears. 5Look to
him, and be radiant; so your[a] faces shall
never be ashamed. 6This poor soul cried,
and was heard by the Lord, and was saved
from every trouble. 7The angel of the Lord
encamps around those who fear him, and
delivers them. 8O taste and see that the
Lord is good; happy are those who take
refuge in him. 9O fear the Lord, you his holy
ones, for those who fear him have no want.
10
The young lions suffer want and hunger,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good
thing.
1

---------------------11:00 a.m.

PSALM 34:1-10 (nRSV)

I will always praise the Lord. 2With all my

heart, I will praise the Lord. Let all who are
helpless, listen and be glad. 3Honor the Lord
with me! Celebrate his great name. 4I asked
the Lord for help, and he saved me from all
my fears. 5Keep your eyes on the Lord! You
will shine like the sun and never blush with
shame. 6I was a nobody, but I prayed, and
the Lord saved me from all my troubles.
1

If you honor the Lord, his angel will protect

you. 8Discover for yourself that the Lord is
kind. Come to him for protection, and you
will be glad. 9Honor the Lord! You are his
special people. No one who honors the
Lord will ever be in need. 10Young lions[a]
may go hungry or even starve, but if you
trust the Lord, you will never miss out on
anything good.

7:30 a.m.

---------------------6:00 p.m.

PSALM 34:1-10 (MSG)

I bless God every chance I get; my lungs

expand with his praise. 2I live and breathe
God; if things arent going well, hear this
and be happy: 3Join me in spreading the
news; together lets get the word out. 4God
met me more than halfway, he freed me
from my anxious fears. 5Look at him; give
him your warmest smile. Never hide your
feelings from him. 6When I was desperate,
I called out, and God got me out of a
tight spot. 7Gods angel sets up a circle of
protection around us while we pray.
1

Open your mouth and taste, open your

eyes and seehow good God is. Blessed
are you who run to him. 9 Worship God if
you want the best; worship opens doors to
all his goodness. 10Young lions on the prowl
get hungry, but God-seekers are full of God.

Confession of Sins
Almighty and Most Merciful Father, we
come before You, acknowledging our sins,
our shortcomings, and our breaking of our
Covenant with You.

Not only are we guilty of that, O Lord; but we have also closed our eyes and
pretended not to see the injustices, the racism and the evil which pervade our
everyday lives.
We have shut our ears and pretended not to hear the cries for liberation which
come from the lips, lives and hearts of the oppressed even our own Black
brothers and sisters!
Forgive us, O Lord, renew our courage and faith, and keep us ever mindful of Thy
great sacrifice. Hear us, we beseech Thee, as we come to You in love and worship
giving Your Name the praise forevermore.
******
To All Our Visitors ... To all who mourn and need comforting ... To all who
are friendless and want friendship ... To all who are oppressed and need
liberation; and to whosoever will come, Trinity opens its doors. Thank you
for coming, and may God bless you.

Not only have we done things we ought not

to have done, said things we ought not to
have said, left undone so many things we
ought to have done and been silent when we
should have witnessed for You.

Raise the Roof Litany

Minister: We prayed, talked, studied, and learned what it means to be green,
care for creation, support returning citizens, and believe in cooperative
economics.
Congregation: So we rebuilt the wall, and all the wall was joined together to
half its height; for the people had a mind to work. (Nehemiah 4:6 NRSV)
Minister: We stand as a congregation, prepared to embark on a rebuilding
project to raise the roof, repair the breach, and renovate this temple.
Congregation: So we rebuilt the wall, and all the wall was joined together to
half its height; for the people had a mind to work.
Minister: Some stated it cannot be done; others questioned why it should be
done; but we are a Christ-centered people, rooted in an imaginative liberation
theology.
Congregation: We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.
Minister: Let the prisoner know we rebuild to rebuild their lives; let the
unemployed know we rebuild to restore their dignity; let the elders know we
rebuild to bless their homes.
Congregation: Your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of
many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets
to live in. (Isaiah 58:12)
ALL: We raise the roof of Trinity to honor our call from God, the legacy of our
ancestors, and for future generations not yet born. We raise the roof! We raise
the roof! We raise the roof! Amen!

An exhibit of the works of nationally

JESSE HOWARD

OPENING RECEPTION AND

ARTIST DISCUSSION
Sunday, October 18, 2015
2:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m.
This exhibit takes us into the working studio - the streets of Chicago - of Jesse Howard, nationally-renowned Chicagobased artist and winner of the 2015 Jurors Award at the Wright Museum of Beloit. Jesses work shows the gritty underside
of Chicagos disenfranchised men, women, and children, many of them of color, and captures how their very existence
puts into stark relief the hypocrisy of our national society, made personal here in Chicago.

About the 20th Annual Chicago Artists Month (CAM) - October 1 - November 15, 2015:

CAM is an initiative of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, showcasing the work of
Chicagos independent artists and arts organizations. As a platform for independently-produced events and programs
in all disciplines, CAM highlights creative activity in Chicago neighborhoods; encourages tourism and small business
development; fosters collaboration and opportunities for creative expression and learning.

CAM 2015 prioritizes:

Experimental, innovative projects demonstrating a strong and original artistic/creative

vision
New work (however, submissions will be accepted for both new and existing projects)
Projects seeking to increase public access to and participation in high-quality arts
activities/events (especially underrepresented populations
Collaboration (between neighborhoods, genres, demographically, or other)

Renew, Reclaim, Restore, Reconnect
Renew our Relationship with God

Restore Justice and Mercy

January (Worship)
Zechariah 1:3 (NIV)

July (Prophetic Mission of the Church)

Zechariah 7:9 (NIV)

Therefore tell the people: This is what The Lord

Almighty says: Return to me, declares the Lord
Almighty, and I will return to you, says the Lord.

This is what The Lord Almighty said: Administer

true justice; show mercy and compassion to one
another.

February (Prayer)
Deuteronomy 4:29 (NIV)

August (Black Liberation Theology)

Leviticus 19:34 (NIV)

But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you
will find him with all your heart and all your soul.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated

as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you
were foreigners in Egypt. I am The Lord your God.

March (Bible Study)

Psalm 119:105 (NIV)
Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my path. I
have taken an oath and confirmed it that I will follow
your righteous laws.

September (Social Justice/Activism)

Psalm 82:3 (NIV)
Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the
cause of the poor and the oppressed.

Reclaim our African heritage

Reconnect to our Community

April (African origins of Christianity)

Psalm 68:31 (NLT)

october (evangelism)
Acts 1:8 (NIV)

Let Egypt come with gifts of precious metals; let

Ethiopia bring tribute to God. Sing to the God you
kings of the earth. Sing praises to the Lord.

May (Black Religion)

Isaiah 19:19-21 (NLT)
In that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the
heart of Egypt, and a monument to the Lord at its
borders. It will be a sign and a witness that the
Lord of Heavens Armies is worshipped in the land
of Egypt. When the people cry to the Lord for help
against those who oppress them, he will send them
a savior who will rescue them.

June (African Diaspora)

Zephaniah 3:10 (NIV)
My scattered people who lived beyond the rivers of
Ethiopia will come to present their offerings. On that
day you will no longer need to be ashamed for you
will no longer be rebellious against me.

20

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit

comes on you; and you shall be my witnesses in
Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the
ends of the earth.

november (hospitality)
Hebrews 13:2-3 (NIV)
Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters.
Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers for
by so doing some people have shown hospitality to
angels without knowing it.

December (Servanthood)
II Corinthians 3:2-3 (NIV)
You yourselves are our letter, written on hearts,
known and read by everyone. You show that you
are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry,
written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living
God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human
hearts.
