Infosys Technologies Limited (Infosys), incorporated on July 2, 1981, is a global technology
services firm that defines, designs and delivers information technology (IT)-enabled business
solutions to its clients. The Company provides end-to-end business solutions that leverage
technology for its clients, including technical consulting, design, development, product
engineering, maintenance, systems integration, package-enabled consulting, and implementation
and infrastructure management services. Infosys also provides software products to the banking
industry. Infosys BPO is a majority owned subsidiary. Through Infosys BPO, it provides business
process management services, such as offsite customer relationship management, finance and
accounting, and administration and sales order processing. Infosys Australia, Infosys China and
Infosys Consulting are the Companys wholly owned subsidiaries. On October 1, 2007, Infosys
BPO acquired 100% interest in P-Financial Services Holding B.V.
The Company complements its service offerings with specialist support for clients. It also uses its
software engineering group and technology lab to create customized solutions for its clients. In
addition, it continually evaluates and trains its professionals in new technologies and
methodologies.
Custom Application Development
The Company provides customized software solutions for its clients. Infosys creates new
applications and enhances the functionality of its clients existing software applications. The
Companys projects vary in size and duration. Each project typically involves all aspects of the
software development process, including defining requirements, designing, prototyping,
programming, module integration, installation of the custom application, and maintenance and
support of systems. Infosys performs system design and software coding and runs pilots primarily
at its global development centers, while transition planning, user training and deployment
activities are performed at the clients site. The Companys application development services
span the entire range of mainframe, client server and Internet technologies. An increasing
proportion of Infosys applications development engagements are related to emerging platforms,
such as Microsofts .NET or open platforms, such as Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) and Linux.
Maintenance and Production Support
Infosys provides maintenance services for its clients software systems that cover a range of
technologies and businesses, and are typically critical to a clients business. The Company
focuses on long-term functionality, stability and preventive maintenance to avoid problems that
typically arise from incomplete or short-term solutions. While Infosys performs most of the
maintenance work at its global development centers using secure and redundant communication
links to its clients systems, it also maintain a team at the clients facility to coordinate certain key
interface and support functions.
Package Evaluation and Implementation
Infosys assists its clients in the evaluation and implementation of software packages developed
by third-party vendors. It also provides training and support services in the course of their
implementation. Its services offering also comprise package-enabled business process reengineering, re-designing application architecture, organization change management and ongoing support and maintenance.

The Company specializes in enterprise resource planning packages developed by vendors,


including Oracle, PeopleSoft, and SAP; supply chain management packages developed by
vendors, including i2, Manugistics; customer relationship management packages, including
Siebel and Clarify; business intelligence packages, such as Hyperion, Business Objects and
Cognos, and enterprise application integration packages, such as IBM, TIBCO and webMethods.
Infosys engagements cover a range of industries, such as airline, automotive, communication,
energy, healthcare, insurance, manufacturing, media, pharmaceuticals and retail.
Information Technology Consulting
The Companys IT consulting professionals assist its clients by providing technical advice in
developing and recommending appropriate IT architecture, hardware and software specifications
to deliver IT solutions designed to meet specific business and computing objectives. Infosys
offers IT consulting in the areas of migration planning, institution-wide implementation and overall
project management involving multiple vendors under a common architecture; IT infrastructure
assessment, which includes assessing its clients IT capabilities against existing and future
business requirements and recommending appropriate technology infrastructure, and technology
roadmap development, which allows clients to evaluate emerging technologies and develop the
standards and methodologies for applying those emerging technologies. To complement and
expand its IT consulting practice, Infosys has established Infosys Consulting to deliver its
operations and business process consulting services.
Other Solutions
Infosys service offerings include validation services, product engineering services, business
process management, systems integration, infrastructure management, and operational and
business process consulting. The Company offers end-to-end validation solutions and services,
including test strategy consulting, setting up dedicated test organizations, IT acceptance testing
services, enterprise test management, package assurance, performance benchmarking, test
automation and product certification. The Companys service professionals are trained in test
management tools, domains, testing processes, packages and technology.
Infosys provides engineering solutions to clients across diverse vertical industries, including the
automotive, aerospace, consumer electronics, energy, heavy engineering, medical devices and
process manufacturing. The Companys service offerings include product design and
development for mechanical systems, electronic systems, embedded software systems,
certification services plant design, digital manufacturing, lean engineering and automation
services, and product lifecycle management solutions.
Infosys offers business process management services and analysis through Infosys BPO. Infosys
BPO enables clients to outsource several process-intensive that relate to specific industry vertical
processes and specific functional horizontal processes. Infosys BPOs industry specific service
offerings include check processing, credit card operations, collections, customer account
management, mortgage and loan account servicing, payment services, transaction management
services and treasury operations management for banking and capital markets; billing and
revenue assurance, data cleansing and validation, service assurance and service/order fulfilment
for communications industry; claims management, enrolment, pension and annuities, policy
management, policy maintenance and claims administration, reinsurance accounting,
underwriting support for insurance, healthcare and life sciences industry; customer operations,
master data management, material planning, mid- office support, product data management,
quoting and demand fulfillment and supply chain and logistics support for manufacturing industry,
and advertisement analytics, content development, content management and desktop publishing
for media and entertainment industry.

Through its infrastructure management services, Infosys manages the operations of its clients
infrastructure. The service offerings include data center management, technical support services,
application management services and process implementation/enhancement services. These
services are delivered primarily through its global network and data operations centers in
Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad and Chandigarh, India; Brno in the Czech Republic, and several
client locations.
Through Infosys Consulting, the Company offers operations and business process consulting
services that leverage its business, domain and technology expertise utilizing its Global Delivery
Model. The Company offers consulting services in the areas of customer operations, customer
service, sales and pricing, marketing analytics and customer relationship management; product
operations, which includes research and development for new products, supply chain
transformation and working capital efficiency, and corporate operations, which includes
technology strategy, finance, legal and human resources operations.
Software-as-a-Service
During the fiscal year ended March 31, 2008, Infosys introduced an integrated service offering,
Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), that combines the supply of hardware and network infrastructure
bundled with their maintenance and support with the licensing of third-party or software, or the
development of software, bundled with their implementation, integration or maintenance. Its SaaS
offering intends to be available in an enterprise SaaS model. Its enterprise SaaS offerings have
been developed using Web 2.0 functionalities.
Banking Software Products
Infosys develops, markets and licenses banking solutions for the banking industry. The
Companys principal banking products and solutions are the Finacle suite of universal banking
solution products and professional services. Finacle suite of products includes Finacle Core
Banking, Finacle eChannels, Finacle eCorporate, Finacle CRM and Finacle Treasury. The Finacle
suite is a flexible, scalable and fully Web-enabled solution that addresses banks core banking,
treasury, wealth management, consumer and corporate e-banking, mobile banking and Webbased cash management requirements. Its professional services complement its product suite
and include implementation, customization, support, consulting, training and documentation.
